Pelican Lawn Care Reviews (1)

I have a property located just inside the town limits of Surf City, is located property is between Sago and Driftwood, the driveway spans two streets and is about 1/3 of an acre with several small trees. This company recently changed ownership, under the previous owner, a neighbor named [redacted], took care of the yard for several years before I bought the property. We continued with Pelican out of convenience and helping a local business. Under the new owner, we have had several problems and when my wife called after getting the latest invoice (mowed and payment due on 12 Sept) she called and asked if it was mowed because if it was he missed about 20 spots in my small yard where a weed-eater would have done the job. When the owner answered the business line, it was not Pelican Lawn Care or Good evening, Pelican. It was What? On Saturday morning I was by my car when a guy was walking in my yard (I figured he was looking for a lost dog or something) walking up my driveway. A few minutes later he comes around the other side of my yard (at this point my wife is on the back porch and he starts arguing with her) neither of us know who he is or why he is yelling about what our problem is with him. Shortly after he says he is the lawn guy and he is cancelling our contract. At no point did he lower his voice which meant we had to raise ours. The contract (we never saw a hard copy as it was an agreement with the [redacted]), my father-in-law (living with us due to health reasons) comes out and the argument gets worse and almost gets physical between them. The lawn guy is yelling while going to his truck that if we do not pay he will send us to collections. When he continued arguing with my father-in-law, I asked to see our contract, he went back to his truck, but could not produce one. Now our neighbor [redacted] (previous owner) comes out to see why the lawn guy is arguing with a customer. Is this the kind of service the residents of Surf City has to deal with? What happened to customer service and the customer is always right? Even if we were wrong, we are still the customer. If a property with 1/3 acre is too difficult, can you imagine how stressful a larger property is going to be for this company? This could have been avoided if he calmly introduced himself as a company representative. What courses of action can I take to ensure the residents of Surf City are aware of this guy and the company? Thank you for your time and attention in this matter.Product_Or_Service: Lwan Care Order_Number: Ongoing problemsDesired SettlementThe way this transaction transpired was outside the realm of being reasonable. A business owner or employee should never have to start a conversation in a yelling. This almost became a physical altercation between the owner and my father in law who was helping me outside when this event started. If a lawn business cannot handle a property with roughly 1/3 of an acre, they should not be able to operate. Let alone treat customers the way this guy treated us. Business Response I am baffled by the complaint that states the[redacted] have never met me before (I've met Mrs. [redacted] several times with the prior owner of Pelican Lawn Care, even chatted on her porch), that I did't answer my phone properly (its always answered "Pelican Lawn Care", never "What" as this complaint claims), and that this almost came to a physical altercation (unless Mr. [redacted] was planning to attack me because I had zero intentions of getting physical). Regarding their unhappiness with their lawn, I agree that there were places that were not mowed. However, there was debris, garbage and furniture that was on the lawn which made it impossible for me to do my job 100%. After speaking with Mrs. [redacted] on Friday night, my intention of going to their house on Saturday morning was to correct the spots if the lawn had been cleared. When I arrived at the property Saturday morning, I greeted Mr. [redacted] as he was putting belongings in his truck. I told him I was taking a walk around the property to see what had been missed. He said "OK", so I went back to my truck to get my equipment. I was going to fix a couple of spots that were cleared, but he wanted me to clean others. I said I wouldn't weed eat around the furniture and fixtures because I didn't want to be liable for any damage that may occur. [redacted] then told me to move the furniture to which I declined as that is not my job, and again, I do not want to be held liable for any damages. Unfortunately, after that his father came outside yelling at me saying "well why don't you call before coming"? I explained that they are on an every other week schedule as they had been all summer. That is when I went to my truck, to show them the schedule (not a contract as all of my contracts are verbal agreements). This situation could have been avoided if the property was clear of debris prior to me servicing it. At this time, I have decided to no longer service this residence and I am sure we all agree this is for the best.
