Peninsula Energy Services Reviews (%countItem)

I have paid this company $1894 for parts to repair my fireplace in October 2018 and have not received the repairs as promised.
I received a quote, no *** dated 10/1/2018 from ***, to repair my fireplace. Quote was for $2306 of which $400 was for labor. On 10/31/18 a credit card pmt of $1894 was paid so he could order parts. I have been trying to get this man out to my home ever since to make the repairs. His reasons for not coming included he had medical issues to take care of, too much snow on roof to safely get on roof, vehicle needed repairs company sent wrong parts. These reasons I could understand and gave him the benefit of the doubt. In May 2019 I started calling him again with no responses. When I left a message 6/18/19 that I was going to call the *** office if he did not come by end of the week he finally called me back. He came to my home on 6/20/19 with parts that appeared to be the wrong size and put a patch on the inside pipes we already had. He worked for a few hours on some of the existing pieces of the fireplace and told us he had to order another part that would take about a week to receive & he would contact me to reschedule. After 3 more phone inquiries he called back on 7/11/19 stating he had other work in area & could be here maybe end of next week. Called him back 7/17 stating I needed to know which day he was coming but heard nothing. I have called on 7/29 and 8/6 with no response.

Desired Outcome

I want this man to repair fireplace as promised and refund any money that was paid the he did not use in the repair.

We desire the same resolution for the gas fireplace venting system repairs and gas conversion requirements as quoted. The vent system repair has been completed, and the gas conversion is in progress. New parts for the unit were required, as age and condition of the complete pilot assembly rendered it unusable. This part was originally received and identified as incompatible for the fireplace model as ordered, and required return and replacement with the correct parts. Return service scheduling for installation and completion remains, and is planned for and coordinated with the home access and additional services in the area as communicated with the homeowner.
A relapse of health issues has limited aggressive scheduling temporarily as recovery requirements are met. This fireplace repair will be completed before the end of August, with all services, materials, parts, supplies, and enhancements to the unit completed within the current collected charge only.
Thank-you for the opportunity to work together.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
If the repairs are actually completed by the end of the month I will be happy.

Did not receive a full refund.
On July 14th, 2018 I was promised an installation date of a new boiler for the week of August 20th. After repeated broken promises I asked for a refund of my $5000 deposit in early October. On November 6th I received only a partial refund of my deposit in the amount of $4214.29.

Desired Outcome

A check for the balance of the deposit refunded in the amount of 785.71.

We were able to resolve this issue and I request that you close this complaint.

We hired *** of Peninsula Homes and Energy Services to install a new central forced air and furnace system in our home. This was on 7/31/17, job was scheduled for last week of September 8/23/17-8/27/17. We hired this company so we could have an energy efficient system for our home to save on extremely high electric bills in fall and winter, over $500 a month. It is now 12/14/17 and still have no furnace or hvac system finished to keep our house warm and save on energy bills. We have tried many times to have the system finished within an acceptable time frame, after excuse and excuse from the owner. He may show up once a week for a couple of hours and not hear from him for another week or two. Our quoted agreement asked for $6500 to use as a deposit and to order all materials and supplies necessary to do the job, with the remainder due on completion. When there is the rare occasion we get a hold of ***, or he decides to call back after several attempts to call him, he is always at another service call or appointment. This being said, he has offered to run a gas line for a new appliance we bought, to try and make things right. Like standard fashion, no call no show and I had to do it it myself. Please note, my wife and I work second shift and work late, so we agreed to have the house open and have the dogs put in a separate room so he can work, we also left a house key for him to come work while we were away for thanksgiving. Again it is now mid December and still, now furnace heat. Upon speaking with 2 other hvac companies, it was stated that our house1300 sq ft, with all material on site should take no more than 5 days in worst case situations.
Product_Or_Service: Hvac system and install

Desired Outcome

Billing Adjustment We need to have the job finished, before December 20 2017. We need our final bill significantly discounted or added refund to compensate our costly electric bills from September, October, November, December and as Long as it takes to finish the job. We are also waiting for ac system completion, if that is not finished by the time it is warmer weather, that will also need to be compensated for energy costs of using portable ac units. All warranties will be honored at no cost or deductible.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
This is the beginning of what looks to be a he said she said game. The facts are in the complaint.Additional installation services and materials provided to homeowner as pledged for gas service piping to connection outlets at kitchen range and utility/bath clothes dryer locations. Hook-up to the gas main piping completed but delayed due to homeowner removal of the access fitting as originally installed for future appliance use.
The whole decision for this was to save on energy cost. If the contractor showed up we could have worked together to complete this aspect. This was not in the original contract of service to be done, his excuse is invalid for this delay. At all times, the home was fully heated and comfortable for the homeowner, with service from their existing heating package uninterrupted.
Heating package and completed air distribution system operational and performing for homeowner prior to the holidays as pledged. Again although this was not stated in the contract on a completion date, it was my fault to assume this job would be done in a timely manner, within a week or two of agreed start date. I would not recommend anyone use services from peninsula homes and energy with out adding a clause for penalty for job not being completed in an agreed time frame. Quotation and billing, with flexible scheduling and access as required for completion, accepted by homeowner. This is also not documented in the original agreement or signed off on. If there is a way do verify his whereabouts on days my job was to be done, my appointment, and we can over look hurricane and truck problem. A good service tech or company would keep their customers in contact. I had to take several days off of work for this project, for *** to not call or show up, and waste my days off and loss of pay. In the work world, a no call no show turns into disciplinary action. Selection of our company (sole proprietor, one-man operation) based on earned reputation and service to additional family members is greatly appreciated. It's been our privilege to serve this family within the context of our company size and structure and scheduling abilities.
This was a deciding factor to use this company. Unfortunately this was a big mistake. We can go back and forth of what was agreed upon and what was or wasn't done, but this complaint is solely on the signed and agreed contract/quote of expected material work and cost. Which was not and still not done to satisfaction. Good business is customer satisfaction, I do believe I have been more than reasonable.

Our effort is to always provide a high quality HVAC product and installation service lasting a lifetime for each of the customers we serve - the results for which there is no dispute here. The time and attention to achieve these results, the coordination with new energy providers, the balancing of work onsite here with service clients and homeowners without heat at all, the communication of these needs throughout the project, the extension of additional services and materials in acknowledgement of scheduling flexibility, the limitations as a sole proprietor providing 100% of all services to every client - these have been communicated in our responses.
We will extend this priority for emergency and necessary HVAC service always, and include the *** family as part of this commitment.
The air conditioning package completion and check-test-start is scheduled following the end of winter. All system equipment and components are onsite and ready for final hook-up, at which time the project balance will be due and payable in full as agreed.
Appreciate very much the opportunity to serve, and to engage with Steve with regard to this project and these issues.
