Peninsular House Reviews (2)

My family and I spent the past two weeks at the Peninsular/Mangrove Treehouse Early in our visit it became more and more clear that the property is not as described online Although the views and the location are as described, it is abundantly clear once you've spent much time inside the home itself, that it lacks proper and regular cleaning, maintenance, and upkeep In choosing words to describe the home and it's interior, I would choose worn, tired, and old Inside the house many items are in need of updating and repair, as well as multiple operational deficiencies Some, but not all, examples are 1) improperly operating security locks on doors, 2) multiple locations throughout home, especially kitchen shows evidence of minimal, or no cleaning at all, 3) severe cockroach infestation problem prevented our use of kitchen after purchasing $400+ of food for our stay, 4) obvious longterm leaky kitchen sink had been resolved with use of a bucket and white bathtowels leading to a perfect biosphere, 5) bed linens old, mismatched, and the only bed with a complete set of sheets on it upon our arrival was the master bedroom Guest bedrroms were both made with a fitted sheet, mismatched pillowcases, and worn out comforttop sheet at all, 6) multiple light fixtures, interior and exterior were found in various states of disrepair, 7) balcony door off of master bedroom did not lock properly, open/close properly, and when attempting to use the balcony to enjoy the views the sliding screen door fell off, 8) ice dispenser on refrigerator does not work at all, 9) kitchen cabinets and drawers containing dishes and utensils were grimy and had not been cleaned thoroughly in what seemed like a long time - same goes for pots and pans, 10) closet doors throughout the home do not open or close properly, 11) pest control exterminator had to treat home with main focus on kitchen area three times during our two week stay-causing significant disruption and chemical odor that lingered for several days, 12) we endured three visits from exterminator, one visit from pool heater repairman, two visits from maintenance man, and one visit from appliance company to replace leaky garbage disposal that my husband helped troubleshoot Interestingly enough, we never saw the property owner during these interruptions--all occuring during our two week stay, and at no time, even now after we've left the property has he ever taken responsibility or apologized in any way On the outside of the house the boatdock had structural issues with the support members for the deck, and we were somewhat concerned about walking on it with too many people, and especially concerned about tying a boat up along side it The "beach" as described is relatively non-existant Believe it or not, even after three pest treatments cockroaches still visible as we packed up to head home All food was lost because we could absolutely not prepare food in the kitchen without the roaches making their presence known, up to and including running out of the toaster several times, and even out of the oven

My family and I spent the past two weeks at the Peninsular/Mangrove Treehouse. Early in our visit it became more and more clear that the property is not as described online. Although the views and the location are as described, it is abundantly clear once you've spent much time inside the home itself, that it lacks proper and regular cleaning, maintenance, and upkeep. In choosing words to describe the home and it's interior, I would choose worn, tired, and old. Inside the house many items are in need of updating and repair, as well as multiple operational deficiencies. Some, but not all, examples are 1) improperly operating security locks on doors, 2) multiple locations throughout home, especially kitchen shows evidence of minimal, or no cleaning at all, 3) severe cockroach infestation problem prevented our use of kitchen after purchasing $400+ of food for our stay, 4) obvious longterm leaky kitchen sink had been resolved with use of a bucket and white bathtowels leading to a perfect biosphere, 5) bed linens old, mismatched, and the only bed with a complete set of sheets on it upon our arrival was the master bedroom. Guest bedrroms were both made with a fitted sheet, mismatched pillowcases, and worn out comforter-no top sheet at all, 6) multiple light fixtures, interior and exterior were found in various states of disrepair, 7) balcony door off of master bedroom did not lock properly, open/close properly, and when attempting to use the balcony to enjoy the views the sliding screen door fell off, 8) ice dispenser on refrigerator does not work at all, 9) kitchen cabinets and drawers containing dishes and utensils were grimy and had not been cleaned thoroughly in what seemed like a long time - same goes for pots and pans, 10) closet doors throughout the home do not open or close properly, 11) pest control exterminator had to treat home with main focus on kitchen area three times during our two week stay-causing significant disruption and chemical odor that lingered for several days, 12) we endured three visits from exterminator, one visit from pool heater repairman, two visits from maintenance man, and one visit from appliance company to replace leaky garbage disposal that my husband helped troubleshoot. Interestingly enough, we never saw the property owner during these interruptions--all occuring during our two week stay, and at no time, even now after we've left the property has he ever taken responsibility or apologized in any way. On the outside of the house the boatdock had structural issues with the support members for the deck, and we were somewhat concerned about walking on it with too many people, and especially concerned about tying a boat up along side it. The "beach" as described is relatively non-existant. Believe it or not, even after three pest treatments cockroaches still visible as we packed up to head home. All food was lost because we could absolutely not prepare food in the kitchen without the roaches making their presence known, up to and including running out of the toaster several times, and even out of the oven.
