I am rejecting this response because:We initially trusted Penn ContractorsTheir inability, though, to produce an itemize invoice and their staff and owner's rude treatment of us is shocking and very poor business practiceThankfully we did not build with them; spending too much and receiving too littleThey give contractors a bad name

We were approached by Mrs. & Mr. [redacted] to design and renovate their kitchen and adjoining 1st floor spaces. In accordance with our standard procedures, after initial conversations we entered into a planning agreement with the [redacted]s,...

which they reviewed and signed. Initially the kitchen design focused on simply replacing the kitchen in its existing location. Our representative visited the [redacted] home and detailed the existing conditions. After reviewing the existing conditions with our team it was determined that a more in depth investigation of the existing conditions was warranted. This site visit included our project developer, our sales representative, our production manager, our electrician and myself.                 Based on this visit our team developed two or three possible directions for this renovation to head. We enlisted the help of our architect to draft various floor plans, we developed specifications for these various floor plans and we created cost summaries based on these various floor plans. Our sales representative visited the [redacted]s at their home to review our proposed floor plans, specifications and cost summaries.                 I am not entirely sure of the time line; however, at some point the [redacted]’s decided that they would be better served by buying land and building a new home.  We were consulted on this new home. At the time I was happy to help and this was done at no charge to the client.                 At some time while discussing the new home we were asked if there was a refund due on the original planning agreement since they no longer intended to renovate their existing home. I did not know where we were with regard to monies spent developing the information we shared to date. Through the investigation of time sheets and architectural invoices we developed a total cost to date for time spent on the planning agreement and refunded the balance to the [redacted]’s.                 To be clear, typically when someone enters into a binding agreement with us and backs it up with a sizable check we assume they are serious. In turn, we are serious and commit the necessary resources to provide the client with what we promised and to the highest level possible. It is very rare for someone to end the planning agreement.                 My team and I have invested considerable time into a very well thought out renovation project. The monies we refunded to the [redacted]’s is fair. My understanding of the situation is that one of the reasons for Mr. [redacted]’s unhappiness stems from my refusal to invest more time in this project and provide him with an itemized accounting of all time spent on his project. This is very confusing to me. The [redacted]’s trusted my team and me enough to develop plans/specifications/budgets for what is more than likely their most valuable asset. They trusted us enough to allow us into their home with his wife and some of his children present. They trusted us enough to take my advice on their proposed new home. Yet there is not enough trust to take my word on resources and time spent helping them. Thank you for your consideration-   Bruce S[redacted] Penn Contractors Inc.
