Penn Ohio Roof Cleaning Reviews (2)

We had Penn Ohio seal all the seams of the gutters and all of the flashing. The gutters leaked after a few weeks; the flashing job was not complete. The are unprofessional and do not honor the guarantees on their work. Be aware.

Review: I hired penn ohio roofing and [redacted] to install a new rubber roof on a commercial building I own in [redacted] . It also involved removing the existing tar and chip roof. Before hiring them I asked about their insurance and mr [redacted] stated that he is also a licensed insurance agent and has the best insurance available for a roofer. Something called roofers insurance. He then gave me a certificate of insurance from a local insurance agent. After completing the job we had a big rainstorm the next afternoon and found out the drain on the roof was clogged allowing a large amount of water to enter both floors of the building doing close to $8000 worth of damage to the premises I lease to [redacted] . I believe the drain was clogged during the removal of the old roof when loose tar and gravel was swept into the drain. I never had a problem with the drain being clogged before the new roof was installed. Mr [redacted] refused to accept any responsibilty for the problem but said he would turn it over to his insurance stating I would hear from an adjuster in 48 hours. I couldn't wait and called my insurance agent who put me in touch with a company that would get the water removed and the damage cleaned up immediately allowing [redacted] to stay open. I called the agent on certificate [redacted] gave me and was told his policy lapsed in 2013. I also contacted the state of pa and was told the company on file as being the insurer for [redacted] was [redacted] . I called them and was told he isn't insured with them either. My agent called [redacted] and asked for the name of his insurance company and was told by [redacted] that he would call him back. He never did leaving us to assume he is operating without any liability insurance. He also never replaced spouting that he took down and said he would replace. Mr [redacted] also never applied for a building permit for this job as he was required to do. If he indeed was operating without insurance he is guilty of fraud by claiming verbally and on his website that he does have insurance. Desired settlement: I want mr [redacted] to either turn this claim into his insurance, if he indeed does have insurance (allowing my insurer and his to work out the details) or pay the almost $8000 in damage caused by his negligience and any other costs incurred by me.

Business

response:

hi [redacted] I am responding to a roof that mr [redacted] filed against me. These are total false!! I do have current business insurance, mr [redacted] told me her was turning a claim under his own insurance which he did! His company is auto owner. He said it was okay because he only had a 500 deductible. Mr [redacted] had tar and chip roofing on his current roof. He claims that I but chip and tar in his drain hahaha. Number one I remove everything around the drains and boot covers to make sure nothing gets in them. Number2 the little bit of chips that would go in wouldnt clog a pipe if it was flowing smooth. So I installed the rubber roof which was a cover over. Yes it did rain and yes it did leak. Mr [redacted] forgot to mention that the roof was already leaking and I have proof from my subs that he had buckets up there already to me installing roof as well as ceiling tiles already damaged. I am just a roofer, I am not a plumber, no where in my contract states that I replace drains or snake drains or unclog drains!!!. When the roof leaked he waited over 4 hours to call me. I believe he did this on purpose in order to get free money. The walls were also already damaged. So I went up there and took pictures. I cut out the drain for mr [redacted] to show him that it was filled up with tar and chip and debri for over years!!!, his other 2 drains were also clogged on the middle portion of his roof! Once again I am not a plumber but I cut out the old drain and installed new pvs pipping and furnco... Once I did this the water started to drain and he hasnt had a leak since!!! So whats that tell you!!! It was the drain!!! I also took a picture of the old drain to show the leaking and debri build up... Mr [redacted] is trying to get free money and the whole town knows it, I have been told he has been trying to scam people for years to get free money and a free roof! I also knocked off 200 for ceiling tiles that were already damaged. I didnt replace down spouting because mr [redacted] still owes me 1200.. I dont need to pull a builiding permit in [redacted] unless we are installing a metal roof! Please remove this report becauase these are false reports you can even call my sub contractor who has been doign rubber roofing for 20 years and will also explain, I will also send you photos and a copy of the contract
