Penn State World Campus Reviews (3)

Review: Last summer I was looking to transfer schools. When I came across Penn State World Campus I was beside myself. After speaking to the enrollment counselor I felt the transfer was a good move. The counselor said I would probably only need to complete 24 credits I was ok with that. After enrolling I was told I would need 34 credits. I was upset but I figured I can still do this in 3 semesters. Finally feeling I am on track and will finally be done. I had spoke to my advisor not on the matter of how many credits but what classes I needed she was rambling on and on and I did not feel comfortable so I said well that sounds like a lot of classes and she goes on telling me I need 40 credits plus another 25. I responded that has to be wrong that is not what I signed up for . She emails me a list and tells me she is wrong I only need 41. I go on counting these credits according to her email and it still added up to 41 but still is not what I signed up for. So I request a new advisor because I have already finished 21 credits and they want me to finish 41 more. I am 75,000 in debt in student loans and I do not even have my BA yet. I am not going to continue working with dishonest people that just scam.Desired Settlement: Refund for any classes that do not transfer, refund for any applications fees expenses for books for classes that will not transfer, and for transcripts that I had to send to them and to the new school I will transfer to.

Review: I recently completed (April 26, 2013) Certificate Program thru Pennsylvania State University World Wide Campus in Organizational Communication. My intention was to see how on-line experience was and then continue my education and pursue Associate Science Degree in Business Administration. I recently enrolled for the Associate program based on Promotional Information on Pennsylvania State University World-Wide Campus web-site (http://www.worldcampus.psu.edu/degrees-and-certificates/organizational-communic... indicating .. Earn Credits Toward a DegreeIf you are interested in continuing your education, you can apply all 12 credits earned in this program toward an Associate in Science in Business Administration or even a bachelor's degree, such as the Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership.Since I enrolled in Summer 2013 for Associate in Science in Business Administration, I checked with my academic advisor on the 12 credits earned to be applied to this program. I received a reply from Advisor indicating this is an error on the website and is INACCURATE ..[redacted]: Question - Pertaining to courses transferredDateThu, May 23, 2013 11:07 AMSafe ViewOn [Turn Off] What is "Safe View"?Good Morning [redacted],Thank you for bringing the information on the website for the Certificate in Organizational Communication to my attention. My team and I were unaware that this information was posted and it is not a true statement. I cannot speak for the B.S. in Organizational Leadership; however 12.0 credits from the course list for the Certificate in Organizational Communication do not fit properly into the A.S. in Business Administration. One course that you took, CAS 352, is being used in your option area to fulfill degree requirements, the other courses that you have taken have fallen into your elective category. The courses outlined in your Academic Plan dictate what you will need to compDesired Settlement: I would like some sort of compensation, since I spent "my" "MONEY" and "my" "TIME" with the understanding that I could apply ALL 12 credits earned in this program toward an Associate in Science in Business Administration.Since I am already enrolled pursuing this degree, I would really like for Pennsylvania State University World-Wide Campus to ACCEPT and APPLY these 12 credits earned in to my program.

Review: Prior to attending this university, I was on the high honor roll. I had a 3.9 GPA and was several semesters in with almost enough credits to get my Associate's Degree. Initially, the Penn State World Campus seemed like a good fit. Penn State had a great reputation and I anticipated that it would be a great experience. I transferred to Penn State and was extremely disappointed. The support from my instructor's was not good. It took forever to get responses to questions and usually the responses were from the professor's assistant who often failed to even answer my questions. By the second semester I was beyond frustrated. I was racking up ridiculous student loans and was basically teaching myself. By the end of the second semester I was falling behind despite paying a private tutor and spending extremely long days trying to teach myself the curriculum. So after not being able to get adequate help from my C++ instructor repeatedly, I decided that it would be better to withdraw from classes than risk damaging my GPA. Now appx. 5 years later, I am finally trying to go back to school and finish and Penn State will not release my transcript. My new college says that they can not accept me with out this. When I withdrew I ended up with a bill. I could not pay this bill and it has gone to collections. I have been making regular payments on this to the collection agency and have paid it down by more than half. I even send them a years worth of post dated checks to ensure that they always have these payments on time. I have called Penn State several times and they refuse to release this transcript.Desired Settlement: I want Penn State at the very least to release the hold that they have on my transcript and allow me to order a transcript so that I may finally finish college.

Penn State University policy

stipulates that unpaid financial charges preclude the issuance of official

University transcripts. https://[redacted]In this case Ms. [redacted] has

an unpaid tuition balance with Penn State University for two courses that she

was registered for, participated in and subsequently dropped. We

understand that this prevents Ms. [redacted] from enrolling in another

institution of higher education and sympathize with the hardship this situation

may present. We have thoroughly checked all University information and resources to see if

some exception could be made but this is not the case. The official transcript will not

be provided until the outstanding balance due is paid in full.Ms. [redacted] should be able to obtain an academic verificaiton as

a “former student”. Instructions are listed here: http://[redacted]
