Penn Title Company

I am a home buyer. I closed on a home and Penn Title was the title / closing company. All proper settlement forms and Hud sheets were reviewed prior to closing with ALL parties and deemed correct by Penn Title. Three days after closing, a representative at Penn Title, emails me directly. She bypassed by paid real estate agent by emailing myself. She said she has committed errors on the HUD sheet and I need to call her immediately. She stated she made an error on the taxes I owed, which mind you were indeed listed on the settlement sheet. I refused to pay for the nearly $3,000 error as it was not my mistake and their errors and omissions could cover the cost. Also, they claim I was unjustly enriched which is comical. I was already at my max budget in purchasing this house. I would not have purchased the house if I owed another $3,000 at closing. Instead I owed $675 which was known for weeks until she saw her error AFTER closing. A HUD sheet is a federal and legal document and it was signed by all parties at the closing table.
Penn Title decided to sue me for the cost. I spoke to two different title companies both saying they are astounded Penn Title would do such a thing as this does happen from time to time and all Title companies, except for Penn Title, just cover their own errors. On the case filing they even admitted their mistake.
As you would assume, I won the case at the DJ level in less than 5 minutes. They can still appeal; however, they would lose once more. The level of unprofessional-ism and ineptitude shown by Penn Title is nearly unbelievable. I will never again close there and neither is my Real Estate Agent. I implore anyone closing on a property or needing a Title Company to not use Penn Title. Who knows how many times they have made errors costing consumers hundreds and thousands of dollars. In turn, they will blame you for THEIR mistake.
