Pennsy Paving and Concrete Reviews (%countItem)

I had my driveway redone by Zack H from Pennsy Paving and Concrete LLC. The driveway was in for approximately 2 months and near the entrance to the garage, the top surface started to come loose. We had little black stones sticking to our shoes and getting all over the house. I contacted Zack via sending a message on the website, numerous phone calls, with no response. I then sent him an email. Finally, after approximately 2 months, Zack H did respond to another email I sent on August 9, 2019. On August 10, Zack responded that he would be out ASAP to look at the issue. I assumed ASAP meant within a few days. On August 12, I sent an email asking when he thought he would be able to stop in to rectify the problem. Again, no response was received. I sent another note on August 14, indicating that Social Media could be bad for his business, if there are negative comments. After that, he showed up, on August 20, all smiles, saying he could fix the issue and would be back, within a week to fix it. On August 26, I sent another note asking why he wasn’t here last week, as promised, and asked again, when he expected that he could resolve the problem. No answer to that. Then on September 4, I again followed and his response, that day was “I told you As Soon As Possible, I would be by to fix it!”
Since I was getting the run around, I added something to Facebook. He sent me an email with the Facebook comments in it, nothing else. I told him I would delete the negative comments, one he fixed the problem with the driveway. Since then, I have sent many follow ups, the last one being October 10. To date, no response and the problem wasn’t fixed.
With the weather getting colder, wee needed to have this repaired, before the first snow. As a result, I had to hire someone to repair Pennsy’s poor workmanship. It’s really sad, when you try to give a small business, work, and then they ignore the issue and think nothing of it.

Our 34 year old 600-ft driveway was recently replaced by Pennsy Paving & Concrete in Hatfield, PA. Pennsy came to view existing driveway to provide quote. They stated driveway base looks great with no sunken spots, just top layer wear cracks. Our driveway has never had any problems with water runoff. Suggested we top coat (cheaper) or could dig out existing & replace entire asphalt (more expensive). We stated wanted a nice looking long lasting driveway so asked for complete driveway dig out & new asphalt. Pennsy completed the job end a few weeks ago, end June 2019. Pennsy put a swale/gully on the right side of the driveway a foot in from the grass, the entire length of the driveway. The swale/gully runs front to back & appears to be a driveway addition (looks like a “line” where rougher meets finer grade asphalt). This “line” grabs everyone’s attention when looking at the driveway. Also, our basketball court net is on the right side & now we have a swale/gully making playing not as great as once was worrying about turning ankle. Also, the pitch of the new driveway from our front steps onto the driveway is steep & feels like your falling forward when stepping onto driveway. We immediately contacted Pennsy about our dissatisfactions. Pennsy came back a week later & we met with them at our house & showed the areas of our dissatisfaction with the swale/gully & the steepness of the step down. Pennsy explained both were for water runoff so not to have water go into sides of driveway. We reiterated that our 34 year old driveway never had any water runoff problems & we never asked for these “features”. Also told Pennsy we have looked at countless other driveways in ours & other neighborhoods & do not see any of these “water runoff features”. My driveway looks ridiculous & neighbors ask “what happened”. Pennsy stated they would put on a free sealant in 12+ months & that would ‘erase’ the swale/gully “line”. Said nothing about fixing the steep step down. When Pennsy asked what will it take to get their money, we stated put on the sealant & if were still dissatisfied (another words still see the “line”) what were they going to do. Pennsy replied they would replace it. To that we replied they need to put those terms in a letter to us & we would pay the bill. One week later, no letter yet received, we received an email from Pennsy that they had not received our payment. Reiterated our verbal discussions about the letter they owe us. Pennsy replied they will not replace our driveway & it is structurally sound.
