Pennzoil 10-Minute Oil Change Reviews (3)

Review: I had my oil changed at PENNZOIL on 2/21/2013.They stripped my oil pan plug. They claimed that they didn't strip it, but they didn't tell me it was striped the last they changed it there. So I suggested to the manager that he fixes it and he says that they cant, they only change oil. So they put in a temporary, unprofessional plug, and told me that I would have to go get it fixed and cover the cost, because it wasn't their fault. So on may 11 when my next oil change was due, I took it to [redacted]. I told them that there was a temporary plug on it, and that it needed fixed. I told them to just remove the temp plug and tap the hole to fit in a bigger plug, that way it would be a cheap repair. As they was working on it an associate came to talk to me and told me that the Temp plug that PENNZOIL put in snapped and the back half was trapped in my oil pan and that the whole oil pan needed replaced or the metal piece would damage my engine. They said that it would cost $900 plus!! I was shocked and disgusted. I told them to try to get the metal piece out so that I wouldn't have to pay that amount. So they had the Mechanic show me what was wrong and they pretended that they was trying to get the metal piece out with a hanger. As they were trying to get out the metal piece which I found out later was never their. The mechanic said that they were slow. So then the manager came out and told me that the only way to fix it was change the whole thing. I told him I could have it fixed for cheaper and that I only had $650. He said that they would do it for that. So I felt that they was just looking for work and I chose to have it fixed at [redacted]. I had it towed there for $85 and they fixed it for $662.65 and they told me that they found no metal peice,so pepboys lied plus I had to borrow my brothers car for 3 days and he charged me $50 plus a full tank when I returned it. Grand total of $797.65 ALL THIS MONEY OVER A STRIPPED PLUG THAT PENNZOIL DAMAGED!PLEASE HELP ME GET JUSTICE!Desired Settlement: I feel that Both company's should pay for this costly repair. I know if I stripped or broke something I would be held accountable. And I don't Appreciate being lied to and taken advantage of by [redacted].[redacted] could have fixed it for way less, but they chose to lie and deceive me, not thinking that I would be wise enough to take it some where else!

Review: On August 20th, 2014 I took both my car and my wife's car to have our oil changed at the Pennzoil 10 minute oil change located in Pleasant Hills. My car (2011 Subaru Impreza) used standard oil and my wifes car (2014 Subaru forester) used synthetic oil. After approximately 2 weeks of driving my Impreza around I noticed a very large puddle of oil appear under my car over one night. The oil loss was so significant that I had the car towed to my local Subaru dealer ([redacted], pleasant hills). [redacted] informed me that the wrong oil filter was used so they changed the oil for me and this resolved the oil leak. I went back to Pennzoil and informed the owner ([redacted]) of the issue. He asked what I wanted and I replied that I wanted reimbursed for the oil change and the tow cost. He said this wasn't going to happen and gave me a cash refund of $34(cost of [redacted] oil change, cheaper than Pennzoil original price of $39).I left unhappy but felt that there was nothing I could do. About one week later I was driving my wife's forester and the low oil pressure light came on. Immediately reminded of the issue with my Impreza I pulled off the road and checked the oil. The oil filter is a top mount and oil was spewing out of the filter leaving a puddle on the engine. As mentioned earlier the car uses synthetic oil and it had only been driven 500 miles since the change. This was about 7pm when I noticed the oil problem and tried to contact Pennzoil. They were closed for the day so I drove to the nearest auto parts store to purchase synthetic oil ($8 per quart, added 3). I added the oil to the car so it was safe to drive and took it to [redacted] which luckily were open. They changed the oil and stated the same thing that the oil filter was incorrect.I called Pennzoil several times over the next week to get in touch with the owner. He was not there and the manager said he couldn't be reached unless he was at the store. I finally stopped by a few more times and ran into him. I informed him of the problem.Desired Settlement: (continued from above). the owner ([redacted]) said I would not be given a refund and should have instead came to him when the oil was leaking. I told him that it was after hours and that I needed the car fixed ASAP.His response was "I will not give you a refund. You should have came to use and we would have fixed it."I am looking for reimbursement / a refund as follows.Subaru Impreza: Tow - $70 Subaru Forester: Oil (3 x $8) - $24, Oil change(synthetic) - $70 Total = $164

Review: On thursday 18th of february I took my 2011 Jeep wrangler with 39 thousand miles on odometer in for an oil change at this pennzoil.

On monday on my way to work the engine light came on so I took it to [redacted] dealership in [redacted]. where [redacted] in formed me that the plug for the oil was not put in correctly and that the engine is shot. And that it would be approximately 6,000.00 to put in a new engine.

I called Mike J the business owner at pennzoil and explained what happened, he said he would get back to me, He has not, I have left numerous messages and he will neither pick up the phone to me or return my calls.

My wife called on her phone and Mike J said he wanted the contact info of [redacted] cars and that he wanted to call them, We have since contacted [redacted] at [redacted] cars and that he has not heard or spoke to anyone from pennzoil.

My wife has since tried calling mike J back and left many messages and has not heard back from them.

Can you Help us?Desired Settlement: To pay for the brand new engine that has to be installed.
