Review: My attorney engaged this attorney against my better judgement. Low and behold they gouged me with their fees. They committed verbally to providing a service and after I paid them claimed top no longer offer the service. Furthermore, they wanted to charge me $1 per page to return my documents to me. MY DOCUMENTS! These people are thieves. Return my documents and the $250 I paid for a service you did not provide.Desired Settlement: Return my documents and $250 for a service they verbally committed to but did not provide.

I am responding to your letter dated October 24,2013 regarding a complaint you received from one of our customers. In the complaint the customer asserts that she paid for a service and product that was not provided.

Our company offers several products and services to family law attorneys and their divorcing clients. As you may imagine, the circumstances under which we operate are not always ideal and divorcing parties can often be unhappy and dissatisfied with their life situation. We are often a "whipping boy" when customers are unable to channel their feelings more appropriately.

One service we offer is a QDRO Analysis. This is a mathematical calculation performed to assist parties in determining a dollar amount to be inserted into a qualified domestic relations order. A qualified domestic relations order (QDRO) is a complex legal instrument that is used to finalize the division or distribution of a pension or retirement plan pursuant to a divorce. QDROs are required by law to divide retirement benefits.

We performed a QDRO Analysis for this customer based on the information she provided. At her request, we performed a revised QDRO Analysis based on additional information. The requests were transmitted to us by her attorney copies of both reports are attached for your review.

All support documentation used in our analyses was provided to us by fax. We did not receive any original documents. We retain this information as part of our file. We are uncertain as to why the customer requested the return of these documents as we assume that she kept the originals. The nominal fee we charge to acquiesce with such a request is customary and covers our costs for file retrieval, copies and return service, if she is still interested in receiving the documents, we would be happy to comply with the request upon receipt of the fee.

I hope this clarifies the circumstances surrounding the denial of the customer's request for a refund and return of her documents. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I am rejecting this response because I paid for a service I did not receive. Period. This company is unnecessarily dramatic as you can see in their response. Their response is unacceptable and remediation is still expected by me. Bait and switch should never be tolerated.
