I recently rented a one way truck from Middletown Delaware to Boca Raton Florida My truck was not cleaned before we leftTruck windshield and inside the trailer were filthy
The truck was old and had all the dashboard lights flashing on more than one occasion during the drive
Once in Florida the return office was closed on Saturday, I had to call the main number to talk to someone to find if it was back in a commercial business Park, which not easy to find or access with the large truck
The first call I was routed via the voice response sysyem was transfer to someone who said I had the wrong number They hung up on me The second call was to check why no one was in the location during the posted business hours the next day and what to do with the keys This representactive said there was a drop box at the location Then hung up abruptly I found a blue unmarked box hidden on the side of the building behind a shrub This is where I placed the keys The third call was to check to see if that was the appropriate place to put the keys This representative stated she thought it was fine
All of these transactions were not handled in a professional manner expected by this name brand company

I was given the run around for a week. I was told I would be contacted by a certain date and was not. I asked if they had a particular truck for rent, they said theywould find one then told me they didn't have any at all with no intention of looking for one. Didn't seem like they were even trying to work with me. No alternative or options were given and I was pretty much told, sorry, we can't help you. Go somewhere else if you're looking for good service, this place is a joke.

Review: At around noon on 12/3/14 I made a reservation online at www.penske.com for a business rental of a 16' truck one way from [redacted], CA to [redacted], CA. The price I was quoted online was $236.81 plus tax, environmental fee, and insurance. The web site and reservation said that this included "Free Unlimited Mileage". After making the reservation I called the pickup location and confirmed that they had my reservation and that I could pick it up at 8AM the following day. They said that everything was a go.Shortly after 8PM (conveniently after their close time) I got a message on my phone from a representative at the drop off location in [redacted] named [redacted]. He stated that Penske suspects that I will "abuse" the unlimited mileage and that he has converted my rental to an in town at a higher rate. I tried to immediately call him back but his location was closed. I then called the main Penske number and they would not explain why they changed my pricing. Their business division was closed for the evening. After pushing hard and being transfered through many people I got [redacted] on the line and he explained that because they think that I might drive 700 miles, that they will not allow me to do a one way with unlimited miles. I explained to him that his site quotes unlimited miles, and allows me to book a one way from [redacted] to [redacted], thus he should honor the prices that their site is advertising. In addition, because they called me at 8PM and I needed the truck first thing in the morning, they left me no time to find an alternative. He still refused to honor the advertised quote.At 5:30 AM on 12/4 - the morning of my pickup. I called Penske again, and through several hours of being transferred I got a manager named [redacted] in Stockton. She told me that they will not do unlimited miles if the start and end location is less than 200 miles and refused to honor their quote. I was forced to rent the truck at the higher rate because I had no time to find an alternativeDesired Settlement: Penske's web site needs to be changed to reflect their actual policies if they are not going to actually let you have a reservation with "+ Free Unlimited Mileage". the site should not allow you to book one-way reservations to and from locations where they are not willing to allow a one-way rental. In addition If my resulting price ends up being more than the quoted price, I want the difference refunded to me as they changed my price right before pickup and I was unable to find an alternative.

Penske Truck Leasing in Capitol Heights, MD has unwritten policies that they fail to tell you about until you show up to rent their products. They required a $5000 certified check deposit for trailer rental but didn't tell me until I came in to pick up the trailer. Beware of their unwritten policies because you don't know what they are until you arrive there and can change at any given moment.
