I personally did the estimate for their roofAt the time, the entire roof was covered in plastic and to my understanding it was in that condition for a yearThe kitchen had areas where new drywall was installed from the water leakage caused by the leaking roofTheir chimney shroud looked to be the original which was over years old and in disrepairWe did the best we could to reseal itWe replaced the plywood, however, our contract didn't include replacing the chimney shroudThat installation is typically done by the HVAC contractor, not the roofing contractorAgain, the drought like summer we have had truly doesn't support a furnace rusting that quicklyI would imagine it had been taking on water since it was installedWe recommend that a new one be installedIf interested our fee will be $Thank you for your cooperation in this matterSincerely, Thomas A President

The [redacted] 's had a small addition installed years ago, and they never had any problems with their roof in the past wintersUnfortunately, during Western New York's most severe winters they did have an abundance of snow on their roof that caused what's called an ice damWe did offer them the service to remove the ice for a small fee, but, her husband declinedMrs [redacted] claims her shingles are defective but they aren't leaking nowWe find it ironic that during the original message left on our machine, dialog was expressed that their problem was due to the weather conditionsThis complaint is totally unwarranted and should never have been submittedSincerely, Thomas APresident

To whom it may concern; I have read the response from "A BEST" and what was stated was not trueIf you read my complaint, I was not asking for 'warranty' coverage to my damaged gutterThe damage was caused by six feet of snow from the November storm of I wanted the gutter repaired and expected to pay for it !! The salesman knew of this and told me how much it would cost and I agreed to itThe problem was that nothing happened for five monthsMy phone calls and e-mails were never answered and even by going to their business location and speaking to the secretary, nothing was doneFinally, on September 20th I received a phone call from a 'sub-contractor' working for "A BEST" that he was in the area and would fix my gutter for the agreed price that was made last April. I accepted and he came to my house the same day and repaired the gutterI PAID FOR THE REPAIR AFTER WAITING FOR FIVE AND A HALF MONTHS....... Thank You Revdex.com, I believe that because of my complaint to you the repair was finally completed.

Yes we did need to repair a small area of drywallOur guys did want to get it done ASAP for ***'s convenienceShe delayed the repair, which is fine, however an effort was made to get it complete ASAPOn June 1st, 2016, *** came in to take care of the invoice At that time, they were
extremely happy with everything including the ceiling and we did get notification from the Revdex.com that they gave us the highest ratingOn July 11th, we received a call that they had water coming down the chimney and into the furnace and that it was rustyOne of our employees went to see what the problem was and at that time he checked the chimney and the homeowner stated they wanted the furnace cleaned and the galvanized pipe replacedAbout two weeks later, another of our employees also went to access the situation and confirmed that there was no longer any water in the furnace or the pipeBeing that the roof was done the very end of May and that there has been virtually no rain this summerI don't know how they can assume that the roofing project allowed the furnace to rust on the inside in a matter of weeksI'm sure that the damage done was from an issue that was ongoing before we did their roofThe issue they have is with the chimney not the roofWe did repair the chimney at no chargeHowever, we are not responsible for the rust inside the furnace and are not liable for its replacementThank you for your cooperation in this matterSincerely, Thomas APresident

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I have spoke to several people who are familiar with this type of work and have experience in this field and have informed me that if proper insulation was installed, ice build up should not have happened and water damage in several areas would not have happened. We had a roof installed on the other part of our house by another contractor over 15 years ago and have no problem with leaks or water damage. I contacted my home owners insurance agent and will have another contractor look at the damages and the cause. Until I'm completely convinced that A-Best did everything properly to prevent such damages happen, this case remains open.

I  personally did the estimate for their roof. At the time, the entire roof was covered in plastic and to my understanding it was in that condition for a year. The kitchen had areas where new drywall was installed from the water leakage caused by the leaking roof. Their chimney shroud looked to be the original which was over 50 years old and in disrepair. We did the best we could to reseal it. We replaced the plywood, however, our contract didn't include replacing the chimney shroud. That installation is typically done by the HVAC contractor, not the roofing contractor. Again, the drought like summer we have had truly doesn't support a furnace rusting that quickly. I would imagine it had been taking on water since it was installed. We recommend that a new one be installed. If interested our fee will be $550.00. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Sincerely, Thomas A.  President

Looks like we will be going to small claims court. The roof was not leaking in the basement and the furnace and all the piping were brand new and had no issues with any leaks. It rained the next day after the roof was installed and I have the records to prove how much rain we have had since the roof was installed. Your employee said it was your company's fault that the chimney was not done right and it allowed water to run down the chimney which my husband heard him say. We had no leaking into the basement until your company did the roof. The rust is because we didn't realize that the chimney was leaking until after the damage was done which we did have rain at the end of May and beginning of June. It rained enough that we were unable to plant our garden due to the rain. The furnace and pipes are just over a year old and even the previous furnace and pipes did not leak. The leaking only happened after your company did the roof.

The [redacted]'s had contacted "A" Best about some gutter damage that occurred during the winter storm of 2014. Our contracts do not warranty damage repair as per number 26. (See attached). In good faith, we went out and replaced the damaged gutter. We feel this was above what we could have done and a...

report to the Revdex.com was inappropriate. We ask that this complaint be removed from our file. Sincerely,Thomas A.President
