Review: I live in a condominium building that is 24 years old. I bought 8 windows. They needed to be exactly the same as the other windows in the building. This was made very clear to the salesman and he indicated understanding by boasting about how many condos he had sold to and his reputation. He sold me replacement windows which, by necessity are almost 4 inches narrower than new construction. He should have sold me new construction windows so that they would match exactly as I had indicated they must. If he was unsure, he should have explained the difference. Presently, I need to remove these new 8 windows and install 8 more windows that are new construction and an exact match. Seller refuses to acknowledge wrong doing, refuses to exchange the windows and promises only full sized screens like the other units have but twice the amount of time promised for these has already passed.

Product_Or_Service: windowsDesired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Replacement

(1) Seller should remove the new windows and install the correct windows charging me only for the difference installation or (2) Seller should refund all my money $7762 and take the windows at such time as I have the work done to replace them.

Response:

On 7/19/13, Ms. [redacted], who resides in a condo development, signed a contract with Peoples Products to purchase and have eight (8) windows installed.

At the time of the signing of the contract, when the representative from Peoples Products was told that the windows needed to match, he asked Ms. [redacted] what the rules of the condo association were and she said the color and grid pattern which were ordered to her specifications.

On 8/16/13, the windows were installed and Ms. [redacted] was very happy with them at that time.

Ms. [redacted] then called and said that the association wanted her to take the windows out because they did not match the other windows in the complex.

Ms. [redacted], Project Management for Peoples Products, called the condo association office and was berated heatedly by a condo director of the board who ended up hanging up on her as she was attempting to remedy the situation.

Ms. [redacted] and Mr. [redacted] sales representative, went to see Ms. [redacted] to answer any of the questions she and the condo association may have. The same condo director was involved and was yelling and speaking in a totally unprofessional manner. He repeatedly said that the windows did not match and that they had to be removed. We walking around the condo complex and noted other windows that did not have grid patterns at all and some without screens which did not match the other windows in the complex.

We all returned to Ms. [redacted]’s condo and the condo director again told Ms. [redacted] that she would have to remove the windows. He threatened to call his attorney and Ms. [redacted] said fine and that she had already contacted hers. It was obvious that she did like the quality and look of the windows.

There was a concern that the ½ windows in her windows needed to be full screens to match the rest of the condo complex and she was assured that those would be ordered for her. She specified that timing of receiving the screens had not been met but the screens had been received at Peoples Products last week and were in the process of getting them scheduled to be changed.

The last contact Mr. [redacted] had with Ms. [redacted] was she asking for his help. He offered to meet with the condo directors and she was thankful for his assistance.

In a subsequent follow up, Mr. [redacted] indicates Ms. [redacted]’s response to our efforts:

This was [redacted]'s response to my question about the Revdex.com complaint.

Yes. I filed the complaint with the Revdex.com because I thought I was buying

windows that would look exactly the same and these windows are smaller,

and because [redacted] didn't answer my last e-mail about the screens. She had

said 2 weeks and she'd contact me when she got them about installation and

then didn't answer when I asked if they were in yet. I was pretty

desperate. The price is in the mid 13K from [redacted] to take out your

windows, and replace them with New Construction windows that are an exact

match. The longer the screens take, the less my chances are of being able

to convince the association to leave me alone. I still have a chance. If

there were no chance, screens wouldn't matter. Condo association meeting

will be in October. The owners will vote and that is that.

LP

Ms. [redacted] has her screens and this matter should be completely resolved from our end.

Please inform me if there is anything incorrect, or that I do not know about.

Thank you,

Response:

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: When I met with Mr. [redacted] twice before the installation, I specified that the windows had to be an exact match. Mr. [redacted] who was my sales consultant, never thought it necessary to explain that there is a difference between replacement windows and new installation windows. He sold me replacement windows and of course, they don't match. They have to be smaller. When the windows were installed I was NOT happy. As soon as I saw the windows it was obvious that they were smaller. I told the installer that they were the wrong windows and that they were too small. He told me that they have to be smaller. I told him then I don't want them. I would have to have them ripped out and replaced. It seemed too late at that point to prevent the installation and get my old windows put back in. Too much work had moved forward. As events played out, I subsequently spoke to about 15 window salesmen, my lawyer and was regularly harassed by the condo association trustees. Eventually the October condo meeting came and I chose NOT to have Mr. [redacted] there. I thought he would make matters worse for me abusing the event as an opportunity to sell windows and not help me work with people who only wanted to preserve the value of their property by keeping the external appearance uniform. Mr, [redacted] never acknowledged that this uniformity was destroyed with the replacement windows. As it happens, I won. By then, I was quite an expert on windows. I convinced the association to allow replacement windows as long as the original old screens were used so that there was some masking of the difference in window size. I have ordered these old screens and have them in my home now. I got them from [redacted], at [redacted]. They were the makers of the original windows. Presently, I have no need to pursue this matter further except to insist on the facts of the matter. Mr. [redacted] is a very distant relative, which is why he got my sale in the first place. I don't wish him any harm. Since I can keep my windows, I am suffering no significant financial harm. I just want him to stop rewriting history and not to harm anyone else. I DID tell him several times that the windows had to match exactly. If he is aware that any customer with such a request needs to understand that this is not possible with a replacement window, then he needs to take the responsibility to be an educator consultant and make sure his customer knows what they are purchasing. After what I have been through, an apology would actually mean a lot. Sometimes, those things do matter.

Sincerely,

Review: We purchased 20 windows with a reflective material in the center, was shown this window (cut with the material in the middle) and with a heat lamp to show how good this window was. We have 4 big Trapezoid windows and was never told verbally that they would not have that reflective material in them. The installer put them in we notice the color from the outside of the house was not the same and than we noticed that they did not have the reflective material in these 4 windows. I call the salesman and he told me that he would get back to us. the next day he did call back and stated that they could not be made like all the rest of the windows because they a considered picture windows. He also state that he wrote it on the contract. (which looking at it he did write Argon inside the picture, but never verbally told us. We would of never agreed to buy any of the window if our 4 biggest windows would not have the reflective material in them. We have been speaking to [redacted] at People products but as of right now have not heard back from her or the company to as what they were going to do about this problem. They did send a [redacted] a factory representative from [redacted] and he stated that they could not put that material in that type of window and also state that he did not feel that there was a problem with the color. We were told from [redacted] that he would come out and take picture of the window and to my knowledge he did not take any. He also stated that he would contact the owner of the company. We have not heard anything as of yet, I did call [redacted] on Friday 10/24/14 around 11:00 am and left her a message stating that the factory Rep just left and to please give me a call back. We did not want to wait to long to notify the Revdex.comDesired Settlement: We want to make sure that this company does not pull this same misrepresentation on other clients . We also want to resolve this problem and come to agreement as soon as possible.

To Whom This May Concern:

Review: my husband and I had our roof and siding done with peoples products about ten years ago my roof has been leaking for quite some time that we didn't know about till it finally has hit the ceiling and has become apparent that there is a problem because every time it rains we get water all over our upstairs I have a old house so that is why it has taken some time to finally reach the ceiling where it is now dripping into my daughters room and has hit the point that it is soaking the ceiling and underneath of it is mold from how long this has been leaking. when I called peoples products they said this was not there problem and if I wanted them to come out and do anything to fix it it would cost me over 2000 dollars to fix. when I did reach someone in peoples products because they never answer their phones or call anyone back I was told how did I know it was something they did I told her my husband who is not a roofer went up on the roof and tried to repair what was leaking and he noticed where the flashing was they had nailed where it wasn't suppose to be and that's why the water was taking so long to leak in and be noticable this is also a health hazard because of the mold. what do I do to get this company take care of this. with winter upon us this problem is only going to get worse.Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation)

I would like this company to correct this problem. thank you [redacted]

Response:

[redacted] had her roof installed 10 years ago and I mentioned to her a number of times that the installation is guaranteed for a full year.

I sent [redacted] our installer out as a courtesy to [redacted] and from what he told us their their roof needed a repair to stop the leak.

I called her and gave her an estimate to repair it and she asked me if we were going to pay for any of it or take responsibility since we installed it and her husband said there was a problem with it. She then told me that it was leaking in her daughter's room, an additional place, and that there was mold and mildew.

I again told her we would not take responsibility due to the fact that it was 10 years ago and since that time it could not be said that something like a storm, Sandy?, did not cause the problem or anything or anybody that might have be up there.

She was getting more upset and I told her last week that [redacted] would come over again this week and take a look again, again out of courtesy. That's where it was left.

I know of no contractor anywhere that coveres their labor for more than the first year. I would love to help [redacted], but her roof did not leak after it was installed. New England weather can do many things.

We are happy to help her with a repair, but there will be a charge o do so.

Please let me or [redacted] know if more information is needed.

Thank you,

Project Manager,

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT ACCEPT the response from the business.)

the only thing they wanted to do was come up and charge me 2,000 for something that wasn't even the problem. it was 9 years ago not 10 and as far as them coming out here he never looked at the real problem never came into my house and saw my ceilings he showed up here without notice. first of all it wouldn't have leaked right away it has taken quite some time because where they put nails where they shouldn't have been nailed and that's what caused the water to leak in and over time has caused the damage and mold and mildew if this had been done right in the beginning we wouldn't have had this problem and they did not put the tar paper under the shingles like they should have. peoples products were suppose to send Joe back up again but called me to tell me they weren't going to bother because I had gotten in touch with Revdex.com which I did because they were ignoring me. all I am asking for is for them to fix this problem before it becomes a major problem and goes into my whole house.

Business

Response:

Just to correct the record, we had already schedule [redacted] to go back over and look again at the customer's urging prior to receiving the Revdex.com inquiry. We suggested that they respond to our response first, simply so that the record would be official. There was never anything about "not bothering" to come out. We've already been out, and had scheduled a second trip at the time prior to the Revdex.com being involved. If the roof had been improperly installed, leaks would have surfaced long before 9 years. We are in New England and have been exposed to hurricanes, and other terrible weather in the preceding 9 years. We are happy to help, but there is a charge for work that needs to be performed out of warranty. Mrs. [redacted] appears to be asking for us to work out of warranty for free. I'm not sure that any company would agree to that level of unreasonableness. We are happy to help, and ready, able and willing to come out if Mrs. [redacted] would like us to do so.

Consumer

Response:

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

First of all there are two sides this company is telling one to me and then a different one to better business. They told me they would not send anyone out even when we had had appointment for him to come out they had called and canceled it and have not heard anything back from them except for on here. If you look at the statistics for [redacted] there was no damage or destruction due to any hurricanes or storms. I have also made the decision that I do not want peoples products on my roof I have had another company come up and see what was going on up there and they said it was shoddy workmanship and they said the people that did the work up there did not know how to do flashing and did not even flash around my chimney like it should have been done that's where the water had started coming in. Also when peoples products did my roof they took off my ridge vent and never put it back on when they did the roof and closed up the space and we didn't know this till my attic was getting so much condensation up there that it was molding I got in touch with peoples products and keep fighting with them to come put ridge vent back on roof because that was the only vent my attic had and it had been on there before they ripped it off and covered over it and it took them a year with lots of fighting for them to come back. the roof baked up there with no ventilation then went through a winter of molding I had to have someone come up to clean my attic and they wanted us to leave for weeks because it was so bad. Also peoples products currently wants to charge me 2,000 dollars and it wouldn't even have fixed the problem. All they were going to do was put a cricket on the chimney for that amount of money. We had a well respected roofer in our community come up and take a look at the roof and that he is willing to correct this problem at a much lower price. He is also willing to talk to anyone that needs to know about this problem.

Review: Background information: We had signed a roofing contract with a different company. They were [redacted] certified and [redacted] Certified. They use [redacted] shingles and roofing supplies, They offer a 50 year Shingle and labor non prorated warranty from manufacturer.Peoples Products background information: We signed contract to purchase 22 windows, but decided to cancel because financially we couldn't afford both windows and roof. When peoples came out to void window contract, they started talking to us about our roof. We told him we were already getting it done by another company. Peoples had nothing but bad things to say about that company, which we thought was a little unprofessional. He asked to see the contract we signed and look at our roof. We were a little reluctant but we said ok. He told us we will need all new decking (which the original company did not say). He gave us a quote which of course was cheaper. We starting asking questions about the product he would be using and his Credentials."Are you going to use same product""Do you offer the same Warranty""Do you have the same credentials"Sale rep says "yea yea everything is the same"We eneded up signing the contract.Few days later we started investigation Peoples Products because we were a little uneasy about the contract. To our suprise Peoples Products was not [redacted] certified or [redacted] certified! At that point we called to try and cancel the work. The sale manager called us and asked us why we wanted to cancel we explained our doubts with his company. He said he never told us he was [redacted] or [redacted] certified, he also told us his workers are [redacted] Certified but not the company (which makes no since!). We told him we wanted to cancel and he told us we couldnt, we were passed our 3 day grace period we were now in a legally binding contract that we cannot break. (of course they already took a 50% deposit for the roof) (we were canceling on day 6 of our contract!)He ended up stopping by our house to speak with us, and when he got here he started drilling us on why [redacted] certification was so important. Which I tried to explain numerous times but he kept interrupting me. At that point he told us the certification did not [redacted]er and he still does the same roofing system as our original company. He said he did not appreciate being called a liar (but hey if the boot fits!). I again tried to explain to him our doubts, and he kept interrupting!I asked him "please stop interrupting me"He said "i am not interrupting I have listened to you babble long enoug"My husband said "get out of our house"he said "no I am not leaving"My husband said "i am going to call the cops"He said "go ahead I have every right to be here"His partner who came with him made a good choice and they both left our house. We did speak to the owner who told us the same thing we cannot cancel we were in a legally binding contract. He also told us he already had our shingles in his warehouse, but we didnt even have install date set? (we would like to see a receipt of shipment/payment for product)I ended up calling [redacted] Product to ask about the 50 year non-prorated warranty they informed me that the warranty they offered was only effective if a [redacted] COMPANY INSTALLS THE ROOF! so technically the warranty they gave use was not a manufacture warranty only a company warranty.(Manufacture warrenty without [redacted] certified installer is 10 year non pro-rated shingles and 40 year pro rated shingle)All in all, when we signed that contract it was under false pretenses which in my mind would make it void. This company will tell you anything to get you to sign the contract.Desired Settlement: We would like deposit back.

Business

Response:

[redacted] signed a contract with our company, and well past their 3 days allotted by law, asked to cancel. I personally called and spoke with both [redacted] and [redacted] on Saturday night, 2/7. I spoke to them about the scope of the work, the promises made, and the fact that we are a 30 year old company, quite capable of installing a roof to the full specifications of the [redacted] grade as termed by [redacted] kept saying that our sales manager lied to her, but I do not believe that was the case at all. [redacted] asked our sales manager if the job was the same from the other company, and ours, and our sales manager's answer was yes. Same labor work, same materials. We subscribe and contracted to perform this roof for our customer to the exact same specifications used by any [redacted] contractor by [redacted].

We had our windows installed on Apr 21-22. Without a doubt, they are the finest replacement windows on the market. Bob (the installer) was very, very meticulous on every aspect of the installation. My wife and I are positive we made the right decision by going with Peoples Products Windows. We highly recommend them.

Peoples Products solicits business door-to-door by offering a free "energy audit" and then sending out a salesman to attempt to sell the customer a variety of products, including ceiling insulation and replacement windows. The salesman who visited us spent two hours on the "audit," then proceeded to give a lengthy show-and-tell about the products he had to offer. He resisted quoting a price; even saying at one point that the krypton-filled glass in the windows was "free" while neglecting to say that the frames and insulation would cost over $1300 each. He disparaged the suggestion that second- and third opinions were a prudent policy. He played fast and loose with his figures, suggesting at one point that the cost of the windows would increase the equity in the house, which was like "money in the pocket."
The initial sales call took nearly five hours, even after we had indicated that we wanted him to hurry up and give us a figure as to the cost.
In the end, we agreed to purchase windows. But we reconsidered, and cancelled the contract after our investigation raised serious doubts about the cost effectiveness of the product. The same sales person came to our house again to give us the canceled contract - and then refused to leave! I had to threaten to call the police and have him charged with trespassing before he would pack up and go.
This firm uses very aggressive salesmanship designed to trap the unwary. The salesman's conduct was unacceptable by any reasonable standard. The high-pressure approach, including offers of "this-day-only" types of "discounts," cast serious doubts as to the trustworthiness of this company.

Review: aug 16th,2013 I had a salesman from peoples products come to my house and show me and my wife a window he called hr 40. he put on his demonstration and gave us his sales pitch for over an hour. we asked him several questions about this window and then decided to purchase two windows---a picture window and a double hung window for the price of 4799 dollars.we thought we were buying a good product from a reputable business.at no time during his sales pitch did he mention anything about condensation on the window.had I known this was a possibility---I would not have purchased the windows. the windows were installed on sept 12,2013 in our living room--the main room in our house.on sept 13 when I got up --I noticed that the picture window was covered with condensation on the out side of the window.I called peoples products on the 13th to complain about the window and was told by [redacted] --that was a normal thing for that window. I was not satisfied with her answer so I called the salesman and he told me this was the first time he heard of this problem and that he would get back to me.after several attempts to get in touch with him again--he did finally come to the house to look at the window. he had no answers for us and said he would get back to us.on oct 7th ,[redacted] called and said a rep from the manufacturer would come to the house to look at the window.on oct 17th ,the rep did come and looked at the window and tried to explain condensation to me and said I should have been told the window may do this.I don't believe anyone in their right mind would buy a window that does this .Desired Settlement: I would like a window I can see out of or my money back.

Mr. and Mrs.

[redacted] signed a contract to purchase 1 three-lite glider.

9-12-13

The custom

made window was installed. At the time

of installation, the screens for the window had not been delivered by the manufacturer.

9-13-13

Mr. [redacted]

called to express concern that the window had water on the outside of the

picture window. He said it happened

early in the morning and went away after it warmed up. I told him that I would send him a pamphlet

that would explain condensation, which

is usually an interior concern, not exterior, but a fair place to begin the

process of elimination in trying to find the source of the issue. He then mentioned that the screens were

missing. I told him that I was aware of

it and had ordered a new set.

9-14-13

Mr. [redacted] called and had the same conversation with me as the day before.

The screens

arrived at the office the week of the 27th. Our rep, [redacted] told me that he wanted to deliver

them himself. I attached the

condensation pamphlet to the screens and Mr. [redacted] delivered both to the

customer.

10-07-13

I called the

customer and told them I would arrange for our manufacturer’s rep to come out

to see them just to be on the safe side and hopefully make sure we’re getting

it taken care of the right way.

10-17-13

The rep

visited the customer and gave them some information on condensation and

explained it to him.

10-23-13

I received a

link to a website from our manufacturer said would explain the issue of

condensation and hopefully address their concerns. I emailed the link and left a message for

them to call me if they wanted to discuss further. I did not hear back from them until a letter

from them was received in our office.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely, as soon as the new window is installed and it has no condensation on it,which may be difficult to see now the cold weather is here,I will accept the contractors resolution.

Review: Talked to a representative at the [redacted] fair last Saturday. A while into the conversation I didn't like the approach the individual representing the company started to use. I directly told him that I want no further discussion or contact with any of the information I gave him. Now it appears he may have been third party and passed my info along. I've had two harassing calls so far one on the cell and other on the house phone.I have to get downright nasty with them for them to hang up.
