I took my truck into this business for a safety inspection. After scraping my old sticker off and damaging the front window tint, a mechanic asked me if I had a sun shading authorization from DMVI had no idea what this was and said no why? It was at this time that I was called over by MrCook and told that I could not get an inspection sticker because I had window tint without a sun shading authorization from DMVI told him that I did not know that there was window tint on my windshield because I could not tell it was and asked what I needed to do to get my sticker and if he was going to repair the tintHe said as I have previously stated,that he would fix the tint if I got the doctor's note and the proper authorization from DMV,which I didUpon returning with the required paper,he went back on his word and refused to fix the tintIf the business was aware of the fact that a sun shading authorization is required on a vehicles registration,why did they not check for it themselves before proceeding with the inspection? If knowing the requirements,they were negligent in looking for this requirement and therefore proceeded to scrape off the sticker and damage the tintWhile giving me his word that he would fix the tint if I complied with the requirement he implied wrong doing and wanted to correct itSo after informing me that he would fix it and based on the knowledge of the requirements,I feel that MrCook is responsibleI went in for an inspection and ended up with a damaged window tint

I have reviewed the response from MrCook and he clearly states what I had written in my previous complaintHe stated that the window tint was damaged when the mechanic removed my old inspection sticker and by doing so damaged the front window tint of my truckOn the day that I brought my truck in for inspection and this occurred, MrCook called me over to inform me of this fact. A trooper was called in to inform me of the what I need to do and why they at that time could not give me a stickerThis Trooper stated to me that he could see that the tint was damaged and that the business should be responsible for fixing the tintMrCook stated to me that if I got a doctor's note and the proper authorization from the DMV on my registration for sun shading he would have the tint repairedThis was stated in the presence of the trooper.If you look closely at the response by MrCook, you can see where he himself writes that he would fix the tint if I did get the doctor's note and DMV authorization which I did several days laterI would like for MrCook to stand by his word and his handshake and fix the tint like he said he would
For the record, I was not removed by police, I spoke with the police of the situation and I was advised to just stay away from the business and try to resolve this by the courts and left peacefullyI was later informed that I should contact your business for a resolution which I have done

On January 14, the complainant came in for an inspectionWe had inspected the vehicle one year prior, but the vehicle had been shipped from Hawaii, were they do not have inspection stickersThe vehicle had dark tint three inches from the top, which passed, so at that time a sticker was
placed; but the rest of the windshield had been tinted and was not noticed at that timeUpon returning one year later for inspection per VA law the old sticker was scraped off before vehicle entered the garage At that time it was discovered that the windshield was tinted At that time he was notified that it wasn't legal to have the tint covering the entire windshield, and was told then if it was verified with the dmv via a doctors orders the tint would be replaced, in which there was no documentation on the vehicles registration on for-mentioned dateThe VA state trooper over our garage was then called and ultimately stated "place a rejection" which was done Customer returned on January 17, with a new registration stating that it was now permitted for him to have the tint Customer stated on the 17th that he was UNAWARE that the tint was there himself At that time he stated he wanted the repair to his tint completed, which at the time of original inspection was by VA law concidered illegalCustomer was told that, had that been on registration prior to the sticker being removed we would have been glad to pay for damages, but we aren't liable after the fact At this time customer became unsettled and customer had to be removed by police

I do not feel that I'm responsible for fixing Illegal window tint It was illegal when my mechanic removed the sticker customer didn't inform us that the tint was on there He also told Town Police that he did not know it was there.It was illegal on 1/14/when customer came for sticker so the question I have is why I'm responsible for something that is or was illegal Sincerely, Cary Cook
