The resident claimed at the beginning of October that he had paid his rent in the nigh drop with a money orderSince Peppermill did not find the money order in the night drop as the resident said, he was given days to pay the missing rent in full with no penaltiesThe resident agreed to the terms and was given several reminder phone calls regarding this issueIt was made clear that nothing short of balance in full would be accepted in JanuaryThe lease as well as the sign above the night drop states that the use of the night drop is at the user's risk, not the apartment complex At this time we will only accept balance in full

This balance has been paid in fullPeppermill sympathizes with the situation, however there is a release of liability notice posted on the drop slot as well as a notation in the lease stating that the Peppermill Apartments is not responsible for items left in the night drop

I am rejecting this response because: I never agreed to pay in full at any time, funds where provided to an approved overnight container by myself and my roomate We where not even notified of a robbery until after about days after the event occurred Proof of purchase was provided to the apartment complex per our discussionsPersonally, I was never informed of a january cut off time, nor was I informed of any phone calls made on my behalf regarding the status of the problem When I made an attempt to get information about the theft from apartment management I was told no police report was filed and that I could file one myself, which I attempted to do and was told by local authorities that the apartment complex denied an investigation into the theft but did file I had myself added to the case as I am now out a large sum of money that I cannot afford to pay back and am late on rent as the apartment complex will not accept my rent payment.

Hi ***, Thank you for calling in regards to this issue. I have talked with *** and *** about Mr*** because I was not here at the time this incident occurred. He did fill out an application and left it at Peppermill. However, we did not run his application or take
any payment from him. Also, our application fees are $for each applicant and are non-refundable. The amount he is requesting back is not correct based on our fee. *** did speak with Mr*** about the qualifications for renting a unit Mr*** states that- my incomplete application and background check was not submitted nor performedThis is correct. His application was incomplete therefore we would not have run his credit/criminal background check Please let me know if you need any additional information

Peppermill Apartments granted an extended period of time to pay this debt. This period was extended to the resident as a courtesy, not a requirement. We will not be able to accept payment short of balance in full.
