Pereda's Landscape & Handyman Services Reviews (2)

Review: Mr. [redacted] was hired on January of 2013 to work on a side patio. The agreement consisted of laying down Artificial-Grass, pouring down a small section of concrete for the entrance to the patio and flattening a small portion of surface for a small shed. All this for 2000 dollars since it was not a big section. The Job was done in a few days and my credit card charged right after with the only exception that he was going to come back a week later to pour the sealing or finishing to the concrete and to also bring me back a hand rail stored in the patio that his workers had taken by mistake when taking out the trash after the job was done. Two weeks later.... I was calling Mr. [redacted] about the completion of the job and to also complaint about an excess of dirt that was poured on the entrance of the patio leaving the concrete entrance a bit lower than the sides which in time with the rain it would wash on to the concrete, also to question about the hand rail. His respond was..."next week I will be there to finish and I will bring the hand rail"..... well after weeks and weeks going back and forward of him not showing up... finally he just finished with everything except bringing back the hand rail last month April. Well, today May 6th Mr. [redacted] was trying to give me an address from spring valley for me to go and look for the hand rail myself on his property, however the address on his business card shows a chula vista address of 1149 Meridian Lane, Chula Vista, CA. According to Revdex.com website, this individual does not have a license for jobs higher than 500 dollars, however he did a previous job last year for the other side patio for the amount of 3000 dollars. I will be taking him to court for theft.Desired Settlement: I would like for him to return my 800 dollar hand rail immediately.

Revdex.com of San Diego:

I worked for Mr. [redacted] on January of 2013. I installed artificial grass and a small space of stamped concrete. When I was done putting down the concrete Mr. [redacted] paid me for my labor and the materials used in the project. I explained to him that in order to put the sealer we needed to wait 4 weeks minimum because cement needed to be completely dry; Two weeks later I received a call from Mr. [redacted] asking me if I dump some trash out of his patio that had nothing to do with the job I had just done for him. He told me to please take all the trash that was there because he didn’t have a truck for him to do it himself. Mr. [redacted] never mentioned for me not to throw away the handrail that he is claiming, even though the handrail was part of the thrash he asked me to dump. Three days later I received another phone call from Mr. [redacted] asking for his handrail, and I answered that before I dumped his thrash we separated the metals from the rest of the thrash, and I told him to go to the address where I keep all my machines and tools to see if one of the metals was what he was looking for. He answered “I will go”. After some days he calls me in a rude manner, treating me bad, and threatened me saying he was from the “military” and that he could “do me a lot of harm if he wanted”. The handrail that he mentions could be picked up in the following address, [redacted] Spring Valley CA 91977. Thank for your time

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Let me begin with a big "WOW"....... attached on this message, you will find copies of the text message between Mr. [redacted] and myself.

At no moment or time I had mentioned anything about me using the military to do any harm to him.... If this was true, then why bother involving Revdex.com. There was no Load of trash to be taken out but a few pieces of wood from an old desk that where sitting behind my two trash cans which by the way he volunteered to have on of his guys take it out for me, this conversation started when I asked him if he could tell me of a place near my area were I could disposed the wood. I do own a 2011 honda pilot which is what I used to bring the old desk when it was given to me. The handrail was on the opposite side of the wall in the other corner by the end of the Patio... not near to the trash cans at all. Also, it did not take me no 3 days to call him back, the very next day I called to ask about the handrail and he told me not to worry about it that he had the rail in his back yard. He also told me that he would correct the discrepancies from the entrance.

Most of the conversations where done over the phone and after he started ignoring my calls and not showing up, I started texting him which he did answer some of the text messages but then he started ignoring them as well. Finally after weeks of waiting, I decided to call more often during the days and he finally answer complaning about my persistency and stated that this was not necessary....... I told him to stop ignoring my calls and to stop telling me that he was going to show up and not even give me any courtesy calls to let me know that he was not showing up. My last words with him are in the last text messages where I stated that if he would not show up with my handrail in one week from that day, we would go to legal matters to solve this problem. He always knew I was in the military (Navy) from the very first job he did for me since I had explained that I would not be present during the day since I had to commute to work ( Camp Pendleton ) every day..... He had seen me in uniform before.... I don't get in who's right mind would think that I would actually use my active duty status to thread someone, I never had and never will..... I have a wife and two little girls... seriously, it does bother me a lot when someone lies like that.

The text messages are in spanish, so please email me if you have any questions, the yellow represents Mr. [redacted] and Blue represents me.

Regards,

Review: [redacted] Pereda's business can be found through his online presence here: http://www.peredahandyman.net/So it was that I contacted [redacted] and was led through a most extraordinary sequence of events which I can only imagine constitute some sort of a private practical joke, with me as the unwitting butt/victim. I needed some planting done, described the job over the phone and had him out. He was direct and efficient in assessing costs, & cost to me. I had the project(s) divided up into about 4 possible ambitions, depending upon the cost, and told him what the core 2 would be -- planting about 25 plants in my side yard, and then the second one would be to plant 2 trees in the front yard.He gave his estimate and left, work to be done the next Saturday 4-20-13. He was bringing the plants for the side, I went out to the local nursery and got 2 trees, as per [redacted]. Sat. 8AM comes, and goes. 9AM, then 10. Calls were now not getting through. I had cancelled any plans for the day, prepared the earth with water, cleared the area, bought trees, but no [redacted]. I think it was Monday before he answered his phone. The story was he could not get the plants, he'd lost my number, did not think to come by and tell me out of courtesy, but we agree it will get done NEXT Saturday. I call around Thurs. We are still on, this time he has the plants IN HIS POSSESSION. I ask if he got nice ones -- large without insects? He says yes, asks if I got the trees. I still had the trees. Saturday 9AM comes, no [redacted]. around 11 I finally get a hold of him -- he is 1/2 hour from being there, getting the stuff together. 1/2 hour later, no [redacted], or ever. No call. No contact since. Apparently his idea of a joke. I don't get it -- if he does not want to do the project, reject it. But his repeated insistence that he was coming -- even to within a half hour of my finally knowing the truth, can only mean to me that he was pranking me. Not only had I wasted two Saturdays and all that prep time, but was stuck with 2 trees on his urging.Desired Settlement: I guess [redacted] got a chuckle out of making me the fool, & as yet has never experienced any penalty, as have I with the sacrificed time and having to plant the trees myself. I propose, for punitive purposes, that [redacted] donate $100 to the charity of my choosing -- let's say for hours of my inconvenience, for violating everything his website pledges, and for me having to plant trees which I got on his urging. Then I'm done with him, & I recommend others consider these practices before engaging him.
