quality manner, and the [redacted]' seemed happy with our work. Nearly 8 months later, the [redacted] ran their Mercury Mountaineers' engine out of engine oil. The damage to their engine was extensive. In May, 2016 [redacted] had his Mercury towed into our shop to have the engine checked out. The [redacted] were quoted a price of $2600.00 plus tax to remove, rebuild and install the engine in their Mercury. It was explained at that time that the price quoted was dependant that their engine was in fact rebuild able. Upon removal and disassembly of the Mercury's' engine, it was discovered that several parts deep inside the engine were NOT rebuild able. Because the Mercury was driven by the [redacted] without oil, the crankshaft and connecting rods inside the engine were scored and burnt beyond repair. The [redacted] were called and told that the engine would require an additional $438.00 for a replacement crankshaft and connecting rods. We received their approval and continued on with the project. It required 7 business days to locate an affordable crankshaft and connecting rods. Once received, we proceeded with the assembly of the engine. During assembly, our engine builder found the engine block distorted from the extreme heat of the engine previously being run out of oil. (this distortion can only be discovered during our final assembly). The engine block had to now be sent out to Knightons Machine and be custom repaired for $250.00. [redacted] was shown the engine block and we received his approval to proceed with the $250.00 engine block repair. The [redacted]'s heat distorted block was sent out and repaired. Knighton Machine had the engine block for repair for 11 business days. We called Knighton Machine nearly every day checking on the [redacted]'s block, but it took them 11 days to complete. Once we received the block back from Knighton Machine, we immediately assembled the engine. We installed the engine and had the Mercury running 2 business days later.On June 27th, 2016, [redacted] came to pick up the Mercury Mountaineer. Mr [redacted] did not have enough money to pick up his vehicle. I let him take the vehicle and he agreed to pay us the $388.00 balance due within 2 weeks. The next day, [redacted] brought the Mercury back for us to check out the air conditioning. Our technician found a defective electronic A/C control not working in the dash. This electronic device is located inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle and has no relationship with the rebuilt engine we installed. The vehicle was towed into our shop not running with a seized, burnt up engine back in May and there was no way for us to test the A/C when it came in, as it did not run.Here at The Performance Connection, we always want the customer to feel comfortable and be fairly treated. We are willing to take a second look at the vehicles air conditioning system free of charge. But, if a problem exists in the A/C that is not directly attributed to our engine rebuild, it would only be fair for the [redacted] to pay for that repair. We will rectify any problem with the air conditioning that is found to be directly caused by our team or repairs in any way. The [redacted] can bring in their Mercury any time for us to take another look at it. No appointment is necessary at all and all work will be performed quickly.
