I serviced the property mentioned in the complaint on April 22, at 1:pm , at the request of the landlord. On the date of service, I sprayed a liquid herbicide and a granular fertilizer on the front yard. I then changed products to an organic granular fertilizer, and proceeded to
the back yard. This product was applied with a walk-behind push spreader. Upon entering the back yard, I noticed three small dogs. Knowing that I had switched to an organic fertilizer that is not harmful to animals, I did not approach the resident to remove the dogs from the area. I completed the application without any contact from the resident at the time
After the application was complete, I posted a sign in the front yard to alert the resident(s) of the property to stay off the front yard. This sign was only posted on the front yard as this was the only area that had been treated with chemicals that could be harmful to pets. I did not post a sign in the back yard as organic materials had been used and could not cause harm to animals
Mr*** left me a voice mail stating that I had poisoned his dogs on April 22, at 5:pm. Consequently, I was out of town for a period of time. Upon my return, I received a message from Mr***. After listening to the message, I contacted Mr*** on April 27, at 7:am. The first question I posed pertained to the health status of his dogs. He immediately stated his dogs were fine. I then proceeded to inquire as to the veterinarian's assessment of the dogs, and he stated that he did not take his dogs to be assessed. I further questioned the resident as to his claim that I had poisoned his dogsBased on his response, there was no indication that his dogs had suffered any medical event - that he described - as poisoning. The conversation was short, curt and quite bitter. The outcome of the conversation was Mr*** intended to tell me how to run my business and that what I was doing in terms of conducting my business "was not going to work". At no time was he receptive to my explanation that the product I used around his animals was organic. I tried multiple times to explain the application method, but to no avail. Mr*** was intent on providing me with his personal opinion of my business operation and would not listen to what I had to say
My services were obtained by the landlord for the property. Mr*** did not request the service, nor did he pay for services rendered.
The only thing that I would like to address is the time that elapsed between the time of the initial voice mail and my verbal response. Due to circumstances that were beyond my control, the telephone associated with his message was not available. I addressed his message as soon as the situation was resolved. I personally know and appreciate the value and importance of personal pets. In the course of my business, I treat many properties with assorted animals. I have many animals on my personal property - including two pure bred German Shepherds, a pure bred Chihuahua and free range chickens - where I use the identical products previously mentioned. Not once, have I ever had detrimental effects on any animals from the products I have used
In terms of the service provided, I have nothing to apologize for as the products used were more than appropriate. I provided the service in a timely and efficient manner. The only area for acknowledgment would apply to the timing of the communication
