Pergo flooring from [redacted] popping seams and poor workmanship. Only 18 months old.We paid $7000.00 for Pergo flooring at [redacted]. Professional instalation. We noticed after about 18 months seams started popping in high traffic areas. We charged floors with [redacted] card, they are paid for.[redacted] rep XXX-XXX-XXXX extra 417. Rep from Pergo blew us off stating moisture, we do not have moisture problems in our home.Desired SettlementRepair or replace. Better workmanship.Business Response This installation was inspected prior to the denial of the claim due to any manufacturing fault. Our denial letter to the store and for the consumer stated topical moisture which could be from numerous "accidental spills" was evident. The inspector noted "Planks outside the office in the basement. "H" shaped area at the junction among 4 planks. Maximum length 12" maximum width 3/8". Swelling affects both sides of joints. Similar condition in upstairs hall along the edges of one plank, long side only outside kitchen entrance. Both conditions indicate topical moisture penetration of seam causing core swelling. " This condition does not indicate a leak or moisture intrusion but a spill or accident that was not immediately wiped up within 30 minutes. Damaged planks can be readily removed and replaced by a reputable installer at nominal cost. Mohawk Industries Laminate and Hardwood does not warrant the product for damage from water intrusion from leaks or spills. Second, the floor appears to have a number of areas that it is locked in and there are no transitions placed at every door opening of 4ft or less this causing the product to tight in the joint without an ability to expand normally as all wood products will. This tightness of joint and raising of the floor due the same reason is contributing to the "popping" sounds noted by the consumer. Not adhering to specified instructions for installation of our laminate floor are directly contributing to the issues noted. Remedial repairs can be completed, adding T molding at each door and opening less than 4 ft. and cutting back the laminate where it is tight to walls and door casings. Again , installations that do not conform to installation instructions are not the fault of the floor itself. Repair or replacing the floor is not the responsibility of the manufacturer.Consumer Response We do not have moisture problems, nor was anything left on the floor for more than 30 minutes. First they said moisture problems, the rest of the floor is fine. We request $500.00 to repair the floor. Many problems are posted about this company and their flooring.

Flooring does not hold up to the "Lifetime Warranty" label. We had flooring installed throughout our home in May of 2014. Within a month, we had to have the floor repaired. A few months later, we were having the same issues. Contacted [redacted]. [redacted] sent an inspector out. He agreed there was a problem. [redacted] contacted Pergo. Pergo then sent another inspector out. He also agreed there to be a problem. No word from Pergo. The last inpspector came out in April of 2015. No response from Pergo until 07/2015. They then informed us that they would send a "pen" to reapply the lacquer to the beveled edge. Not only were the edges wearing off, but there are also several bubbles and chips in the floor as well. It it just not sturdy enough to hold the "Lifetime Warranty" label. We take our shoes off at the door. We should not have this problem. They also offered to credit us $500. Seeing as how we spent $5000.00... this is unacceptable. Desired SettlementComplete refund spent on the product and labor.Business Response The claim filed by the [redacted] was reviewed again and as communicated was fully credited for materials and labor back to their store of purchase on June 14th.We will contact the store to confirm they received this documentation and that the consumer is aware of that transaction. It is the practice and direction of our retailers that [redacted] / Pergo claims are managed through retailer and not through the consumer directly. The consumer was advised directly via email referenced on this site to also communicate the same information to the consumer,

I purchased flooring from them recently and within days found the floor to be defective. Pergo made false claims to deny warrantee replacement. I purchased almost $4000 worth of [redacted] laminate flooring from the[redacted] of Gautier, MS in December of 2014. After only a few days after the install, the joints of the flooring began to bubble in multiple locations in the house. At this point the flooring had never been cleaned. After 5 months I filed a warranty claim with Pergo. They sent their 3rd party inspector to our house soon after. The inspector found no issues with the conditions in our house and told us the floor should not be bubbling at the seams like it was. A few days later I called Pergo and they said they denied our claim because of "the way that we maintain our floors," suggesting that we soak our floors with a mop. This is untrue as we do not wet mop our floors and they bubbling began well before we had even given the floor its first cleaning. We are now stuck in a position to seek legal action to resolve this issue. Desired SettlementI would like Pergo to either replace the flooring with a non defective product or give a full refund. Business Response [redacted] will contact consumer directly and the tsore purchased while we will with them to support a solution.

I would like a refund of the flooring I purchased that is not holding up to the quality of the product purchased.I purchased the Pergo Xp flooring from [redacted] in January 2015. It is shrinking, sinking, chipping and coming apart. I have followed yur chain of direction contacting [redacted], having the third party come out and all that jazz. You have blamed the issues of your product on me, the installer. I have insalled your product other times and those floors look great. The installer is not the problem, your product is faulty. I am sorry, but that happens some times. While I like the product I don't want it any more. It does not have the pretty shine it had when I installed it either. Desired SettlementI would like for Pergo to refund me for the approximate $945 I spent on the product that is not holding up to its quality standards. They can refund me in a check or they can refund me in [redacted] bucks, so I can get a new floor that I will be happy with.Business Response I have reviewed the Independent Inspection report that was completed on this installation. In that report of the consumer installed floor are numerous installation issues that were noted that are contrary to the correct installation of a Pergo XP floor or any floating floor system.1. This is a fold down joint that cannot be tapped in the ends. Doing so will destroy the locking mechanics and allow the planks to separate and gap. Repairs are possible but it requires separating the end joint, cleaning it of all debris including the planks tongue which is sheared off, then adding laminate floor glue to the tongue and tapping the joint tight. Cleaning glue and allowing 6 hours without traffic.2. Not repairable is that the installed joint stagger is less than 2' in some rows and much less than the required 12" stagger listing in the instructions for install. This issue weakens the overall floor joints and can cause plank and joint failure over time as the wood core expands and contracts normally with seasonal changes.3. Numerous locations display zero expansion space was allotted which is required for the floor to expand and contract without restrictions. Installation instructions sate that 3/8" is required at all vertical interruptions of walls, islands, door jambs, etc. The photos of the inspectors display zero expansion in all the locations I note above. There is no notation of any product failure and the issues identified match the installation faults by not following the installation instructions which are minimal but extremely important, including:1) 3/8" expansion allowed at all vertical interruptions2) Level subfloor of no more than 3/16" in 10', dining room displayed 2/16" in 2'.3)Joint stagger of at least 12"The faults in this installation are related to installation and not the material and therefore that lead to the denial of this claim. Consumer Response In response to Pergo, I have been lied to by both Pergo, [redacted] and the 3rd party rep. I have not been well, am very upset now, and will point out some things that are wrong and what I have done to resolve this issue. Before I bought the flooring I read reviews, contacted Pergo, [redacted] reps, read the instructions, and installed other Pergo floors. I did thorough research. None of the other floors I have installed that are Pergo have done this. The joints connected fine withouth any tapping when installed. The floor was fine for approximately one year and then the floor starting doing weird things, including shrinking by approximately 1/4" in places by width and length. This is not even noted in the reports. The plank varies in size. It shrank...it is noted to allow expansion room. The report of joint staggering is incorrect. I am not sure where you have measured this, but the joint staggering at less than 12" did not happen in the whole project. How can one see the expansion spacing when the edges are covered by molding around the outside? I used spacers to ensure proper spacing when installing. Then I put the molding back in place around the wall edges as do others when they install flooring. This way there is no space for things to fall in while living life. Having molding around the edges of a wall and floor is 100% normal in every house that I am in, unless someone is remodeling. Along the edge of the Pergo that meets my living room, there is new carpet installed and that is not where there are any problems. There is nothing here from preventing expansion, only covering a gap that around the edge of the floor that is not pleasing to the eye. There is proper expansion room under the molding and door jams. It sounds like the logic of this has surpassed [redacted] inspector and people reviewing this. The report from the inspector clearly indicates an opinion/recomendation from the inspector, that [redacted], Pergo, and the inspector said there would not be. That is a lie! He made his opinion/recomendation.I can understand how any company would want to stand behind there product, but standing behind a product means more than saying someone installed a product incorrectly. Standing behind a product is admitting that the product may have had some sort of issue also. Yes, it may not have for over a year, but for some reason after a year, this product has become inferior to what it once was. Why, I am not sure. Do I want this product in my house any more after the way I am being treated, prolonged, and having a product that is becoming hazardous to walk? Not at all. I am saddened that Pergo is unable to listen to someone that has installed this product and other Pergo products previously and had no issues in other installations, but in his own, he has. I went into this hoping for a positive outcome and have been very calm, even when speaking to the rude unhelpful representative from Pergo. I would again like to suggest you allow a refund to me for your faulty product that is less than satifactory and has become a safety hazard in my home. More and more wrongs continue to happen with this flooring each day.Thank you for your time.

I purchased Pergo flooring in 2006 and two years later the product started to failed! I bought this product because of what I was told about it's durability and the fact it had a 30 year warranty which I felt meant it was a good product ( he took an razor blade and ran across the product and assured me I would have no problem) with that said I took it that it would last. I never thought I would have to use the warranty as this company has been around for a long time. Unfortunately I misplaced my receipt and since 2008 have off and on tried to resolve this issue with both[redacted] who sold it to me and Pergo.I have been bounced back and forth. Ultimately I can not get anywhere without a receipt. I feel this is just a loop whole to get out of honoring their product. I am so embarrassed with this product!! There are white patches all the way down to the backing board finish all in the path of where we walk. I have not used any harsh products to clean it. I want my home to look nice. I don't feel I need to bare the expense of replacing it! I am very unsatisfied! Please resolve this issue. Thank YouProduct_Or_Service: [redacted]Desired SettlementI would like a refund from 2006 or replaced if I can find a suitable product and new product installed. I do not feel I should have to settle with a loss from 2008 or 2015 current since I have been trying to resolve this since 2008. Business Response I have communiacted directly with the consumer with a copy of the 2006 waarranty and the following statement. We have received your inquiry filed with the Revdex.com concerning an issue that you have experienced with your Pergo flooring.Pergo does require that a proof of purchase accompany any claim as laminate floors often look alike and there are many brands on the market and multiple manufacturers provide flooring to [redacted] themselves. That said Pergo would like to understand the issues you have with your floor and determine if we can suggest a remedy or repair that could improve what is occurring with your laminate floor. I will require detail on what issues you are having, pictures of the issue, dimensions of the floor and if known the décor number or décor name (eg. Somerset Oak) that you purchased. I cannot guarantee that there is any support that Pergo would provide but first we need to understand the issue.I have attached the warranty for the Pergo flooring of 2006 and I want you to read and understand what the Limited Warranty provides as security to the consumer. I have highlighted some of the key aspects of the warranty and responsibilities of the consumer and manufacturer.Consumer Response I have spoke with [redacted] and they do not carry what I have now. [redacted] sounds familiar. I do not know how to send you pictures on here off my phone. Perhaps someone could call me at [redacted] so we can discuss this issue. I will say is is 95% of my floor that is bad. My kitchen is 16x20. Thanks [redacted]

May 13, 2013 I purchased 39 bundles of Pergo laminate from [redacted] in Indianapolis, IN. I selected Pergo because back in 2013 and even still today the laminate display states that this product has a "Lifetime Guaranty". The first of 2016 two pieces of laminate were chipping and peeling. I contacted Pergo Claims Dept.on 3/28/16 and provided all of the info they requested including pictures.. I contacted Pergo again on 6/3 and they denied the claim telling me I had dropped something on the floor damaging it. I explained to them this was not true and wanted a claims rep to come and view the area. They closed the claim stating it was my fault.","neg-1

Customer does not agree with the denial from Pergo Flooring regarding the lament flooring that was purchased. Company's report of claim inaccurate. On January 23, 2015, I purchased Pergo lament wood flooring panels from Lowes, store location 2854 Lowes of N. Edmond, OK, Invoice [redacted] The lament was installed on January 24, 2015. Approximately six months later, I noticed the laminate was bubbling/raising in certain areas. Approximately mid-July of 2015 I called Pergo. They required that I file a claim through [redacted] since the Pergo Lament wood flooring was purchased at the [redacted] location referenced above. The date [redacted] filed the claim with Pergo was September 30, 2015. Pergo sent an inspector to my residence on October 22, 2015.As a customer I am unsatisfied with the inspection that Pergo conducted and the results that were cited. There are several areas where the floor is raising/bubbling. Pergo guarantees the wood floor laminate for six months and the floor was noticeably showing signs of bubbling/raising before the end of the six months. The entire Pergo laminate wood flooring was maintained in the same manner and only a small portion of the laminate has the damage. A light Swiffer dust mop has been used on the entire floor for cleaning purposes; therefore, the damage cannot be from "Topical moisture issues, wet mopping, steam cleaners, spray mop units or unattended spills/pet accidents." There has never been wet mopping, nor pet accidents. There has never been heavy water in joints, cross plank locations or on the surface when cleaning. The boxes of lament had a manufacture date of 2012. I am unaware of the useful life of this product as well as if the laminate I purchased happened to be old material that was susceptible to the climate elements during the approximate three years of storage and as a result became defective. It is also possible the lament flooring was defective to begin with. I am requesting, at Pergo's expense, they replace and install the damaged sections of flooring, or issue a refund of the purchase price in the amount of $980.63. I tried to resolve this directly with Pergo by writing a letter on November 19, 2015.On November 25, 2015 Pergo responded at this time they would have to stick with their regular decision and deny the claim. I am writing this letter to the Revdex.com. Please see attached claim filed by Lowes, Lowes receipt, denied claim response, inspection report, pictures of the floor in question and email denial response.Desired SettlementI am requesting, at Pergo's expense, they replace and install the damaged sections of flooring to match the existing flooring, or issue a refund of the purchase price in the amount of $980.63. Business Response Our claim team will be contacting Ms. [redacted] within the next few days to discuss a resolution.Consumer Response Customer filed with the Revdex.com on December 31, 2015, Case # XXXXXXXX and on January 15, 2016 customer received a call from [redacted] stating the customer would receive material for the Pergo Flooring, however, the removal and install would be the expense of the customer because Pergo would reimburse Lowes for the material cost. The customer does not feel they should be at cost twice for the install of the flooring due to the flooring needing to be replaced.

Pergo declined claim by stating it does not warranty moisture yet the warranty states it does (damp mopping and spills that are cleaned immediately. )Why did Pergo do an inspection of my floor and decline the claim due to "we don't specifically include moisture in our warranty" but when you read Warranty on box says "Pergo warranty covers MOISTURE" ??? I have had one spill in the year and a half, we wiped it dry immediately. A couple days later there was bubbling of the laminate. I have the [redacted] which has an open groove and if one drop of water lands on that cram you get a bubble. I have over 40 bubbles. I have carpet in hallway, all doors, at fridge, and the sink. That's 6 carpets on a single floor, why buy Pergo? I have owned 3 other homes with cheap laminate and 1 with [redacted] and never had any issues?Desired Settlement$3500 for floor and professional install

Pergo denied a claim That I fee had no basis. In December 2013 I purchased several cases of Pergo XP flooring from [redacted] I followed all the installation instructions. Within 6 months of installation I notices that the laminate started to chip and break off from the backing material. In March 2014 I contacted [redacted] and submitted a complaint. The store started a claim process Reference # XXXXXXX from Store # XXXXXX. On March 28/14 an independent inspector arrived to inspect the floor. He spent 20 minutes looking at the floor taking pictures and measurements. He noticed that my wife had a walker and then left. On 4/1/2014 my claim was denied. Below is verbatim as to what the inspector wrote:"The laminate boards are installed in the connecting hall and kitchen of the residence. Edges have wear layer and paper worn off in the traffic lane of the kitchen. Moisture readings were recorded using a Tramex non-invasive moisture meter with a range of 5 to 30 percent. Readings recorded in the kitchen and hall ranged 8 to 9 percent. These readings are in the normal range. An examination of the perimeter of the laminate boards found four transition in door ways nailed into the subfloor. A laser and ruler were used to measure deflection when walked on and flatness in kitchen and hall. This measurement read no measurable deflection when walked on and flat to within 1/8 in in 10 feet. Felt Felt protectors are in use on furniture in kitchen. Walker used by Mrs. [redacted] has no felt protector on plastic feet of rear legs"The next statement is from Pergo denying my claim:"The damage found here is consistant with unprotected rear legs of walker being pulled across laminate boards and the plastic rear legs causing the damage found here. This is a site related condition"The basis for this statement is not justified. The walked has only been in use for a couple of weeks. and was not in use when I originally submitted this claim. Furthermore when I tried to contact Pergo about this per their documentation I should have heard back from them within 72 business hours. I have not heard a thing. Desired SettlementI'm looking for a least a pro-rated refund. I am not looking for a replacement as I'm not sure a replacement material would hold up any better. Business Response This is the initial Revdex.com inquiry on this claim, it have not been received at PERGO prior to this review.I have again reviewed this credit and per the inspectors measurements and notes I observe the following:1) Subfloor is level and within spec2) Subfloor moisture is moderately low at 8-9%, as recommended level is 10-13%. This is end of extended winter heating season and likely that cause.3) Transitions have been nailed in but do not appear to impact the floor and are not locking in the floor.4) Kitchen chairs have felt protectors to minimize scratching. The use of a wheeled walker may be the cause of the plank edge damage as it appears in the walking area not under the tables and chairs.Pergo does not recommend the use of hard plastic wheels and castors though I cannot confirm the type from the pictures. Nor can I confirm that the walker is the source of the plank damage that is evident on the long and short sides of planks. A close-up picture does exhibit stress cracks in the surface of the laminate such as that exhibited by heavy pressures or strikes from a blunt object.Whether the damage was inflicted during the install or post install it is inconclusive but Pergo is supporting a refund of costs to the retailer for application to Mr. [redacted]'s account.. No direct funds are provided as an offset.Consumer Response I'm satisfied with Pergo's decision

Pergo states their PergoMax floor will not peel or scratch. I purchased PergoMax flooring in October 2014, installed in November 2014 on the entire first floor of my house. Within 6 months, it was chipping and peeling. I contacted [redacted] to file warranty claim, as we were told when [redacted] sold the floor to us over wood that it would not chip, scratch, peel. Inspector was sent out and Pergo denied the claim stating all could be due to owner. We have no furniture in our bathroom so furniture can't cause peeling of the floor in the bathroom. And the peeling in the corners of the floor can't be caused by furniture. They have never addressed the peeling. They told us we could have an additional inspector at our cost, however they told us the inspectors we could use which are their inspectors. [redacted] and [redacted] at Pergo is the person at Pergo. [redacted] is our contact at [redacted] in [redacted]. Desired SettlementI would like a repair or replacement or credit towards new flooring or some resolution so my flooring doesn't look as it does now. I am surprised the company would want to have defective floors that are not even a year old in a house as a living advertisement for their product. Business Response Unilin has contracted for an independent flooring inspector to provide an inspection of this flooring and that was completed July 28th within 17 days from the filing of the claim. The results of that inspection indicated numerous gouges and scratches to the surface of the laminate itself. Some indicate severe impact ([redacted]) where others displays repetitive scratching in a consistent pattern [redacted], and others are gouges from the movement of an item or furniture [redacted]. As to how these occurred in any particular room is unknown but damage to laminate surface is possible if care is not taken. The XP product is an AC 4 wear layer which is resistant to scratches better than standard AC3 laminate however all flooring has its limits and that is the reason the Pergo care and Maintenance guidelines provided with the flooring states: Care and CleaningA) Place felt floor protectors under legs of moveable furniture. Chair casters should be rubber - not plastic or metal.B) Place walk-off mats at entrances.C) Dust mop or damp mop only. NO wet mopping. Use 1 cup of vinegar per gallon of water OR 1/3 cup ammonia per gallon of water. Do not useabrasive cleaners, detergents, soaps, waxes or polishes. Use correct hard surface vacuum tools. DO NOT use rotating beater bars, floorscrubbers, steamers, jet mops or similar products. DO NOT allow liquids to stand on the floor. Wipe up spills immediately. DO NOT allowmoisture to be on the floor for longer than 30 minutes.Pergo flooring and in this case the XP has twice the resistance to scratching however that is not scratch proof, nor are there any claims on damage from dropped objects. The homeowner mentions corners of planks that have damage which is indicative of damage during install as the fold down plank is miss aligned or forced down causing damage to the core material and later on separation of the corner both core and laminate.Repairs are possible and individual planks can be removed and replaced with limited intrusion in to the home. These repairs are outside the coverage of the warranty that the Pergo XP product carries as that is for fade, stain and wear through to the décor. The limited lifetime warranty explicitly states "3) The flooring must be maintained in accordance with Pergo care and maintenance instructions.4) Damage must not have occurred as a result of improper or inadequate maintenance or accidents, such as damage caused by scratching, impact or cutting. We can provide the store of purchase with replacement instructions so your installer can repair the damaged planks. Attached is the inspectors report, photos and warranty for the product in question. Consumer Response There were places in corners that were peeling, not gouges that were also submitted to the company which they ignored. These were not present when the floor was installed, but have occurred months after installation, therefore are not a result of installation. All of our furniture has felt pads under it. When we were sold this flooring we were told it would not peel on the edges like the old Pergo and dogs could party on it like the commercial shows. I was told it was a great floor for kids and pets. These are false claims and the floor is either defective or Pergo does not stand behind their product and their warranty. Either way, as a business owner, I would not want my floors of less than a year old displayed in a home peeling and have people ask "What kind of floor is this? It looks awful." (as quite a few of my guests have done). If that were my product, I would stand behind my claims and be embarrassed to have it looking as it does in a client's home. Final Business Response First nowhere does it state our product is scratch proof. [redacted] on online states, Pergo XP flooring offers an ultra realistic wood grain finish with premium attached underlayment and PermaMax surface protection for double the wear, double the durability of ordinary laminates. ScratchGuard Advanced provides superior scratch and scuff protection. XP is an AC4 rated product. Pergo XP flooring which is the product in the consumers home is an extremely durable flooring and has above average scratch resistance. The damages observed in the inspectors reports are deep gouges or scratches and there are numerous impact impressions where the flooring has been struck or excessive pressure applied to create a circular indentation and cracking of the laminate surface. The report itself and photos provided display numerous rooms and it is damage that is install or post install damage and if new planks of this nature existed they should not have been installed, per our install instructions.Observations from the inspector are:Chipped Planks Observations: The origin of the 3/8" x 3/8" triangle shaped chip, with the core visible, along the planks side in front of the toilet is unknown. (Pergo: this corner damage is indicative of install damage where the corner is pressured and it sheers the core and with traffic the floor can raise and break.)Scratching Scuffing Observations: The white scratch in the office is near a desk chair with dual black plastic wheels, and the scratch in the office and bathroom were felt with a finger nail. (Pergo: Plastic wheels and castors are recommended to be changed to rubber wheels to prevent damage as displayed. No comment was made of furniture in a bath but the damage itself was similar in nature.)Dent Observations: The various round impact marks in the various areas have stress cracks which were visible under magnification, and also dropped down approx. 016"/.406mm along several areas tested. Pergo strongly recommends with its entire flooring selections that chair legs have casters changed to rubber or felt pads applied to legs to minimize scratching. Dropped objects or flooring subjected to high pressure on a small area can damage our floor and most residential solid flooring. We do understand that Pergo or any flooring is an expensive investment and to that point repairs can be made to the flooring without impacting over 1000 sf. In this report the inspector noted 1 room with a chipped corner, 2 rooms with 2 planks with a gouge or scratch and 4 rooms and 4-6 planks were impact or pressure damage has left a circular indentation crushing and cracking the surface of the laminate. All of these 7-9 planks can be replaced without replacing more of the floor and we have provided that information along with the denial of this claim sent back to the store.I would suggest that the consumers review that information or if required again we too can provide. However, the XP flooring is performing to specification it is not scratch proof but highly resistant, nor is it stated it is totally resistant to dropped or high pressure applications in small sq. in. applications. We would recommend that all consumers read and follow the recommendations that we provide with the floor and publish online which list a few key steps that can insure the beauty of their floor for many years
