Hi, Ms. [redacted] - this is [redacted]. I received your complaint from the Revdex.com today & am very sorry that you are unhappy. We strive to treat others as we would like to be treated & we really felt we had done that! I know when you dropped your car off on the 6th that we were...

scheduling a few days out, but we told you that we would fit it in & advise you once we had checked out your PT Cruiser for your A/F leak. They pressure tested the cooling system & found that yes the radiator was leaking just as you had suspected. We still have your old radiator here if you would like to come get it & have it ck'd. You had also asked that we ck. your rt.fr. wheel bearing to see if it was bad. They did ck. the rt.fr. wheel bearing & found that it was definitely bad & also a safety issue. You were given an est. of $385.00 on the radiator work & $211.00 on the wheel bearing & you ended up giving the ok on both. After the work was done we were double checking our work & letting the car run & found the rad. fan not working & the relay clicking & the water pump seeping. We made sure we had the rad. fan plugged in, ck'd it with a scanner to command it on & it still would not come on & the relay kept clicking so we unplugged it to try to keep the relay from burning up. The more the car ran the worse the water pump started to leak. I need you to realize that when we pressure test the cooling system the worst leak is what shows up- which was the radiator. It is like a dam - you fix the worst leak & after that anything that is susceptible has more pressure on it, which in this case was the water pump. And as it was explained to you - quite often we see that fresh A/F will eat up the seals in a water pump (if it is older) - but it doesn't usually happen that quickly. Also, regarding the rad. fan - we did not know that the rad. fan was not working when we found the A/F leak at the radiator & we did not realize that you were having a problem with the car overheating at stops. I would also like to point out that we straightened out the radiator cradle as best we could where it had gotten bent up - like it had been driven off road (& was all muddy underneath) + we came in under est. on the radiator repair at $369.00. They also saw an oil leak and advised you of that. I know we are not perfect, but I feel that we really did everything properly in this case. I understand that you are upset that fixing the radiator did not fix your total problem - but you knew that you had a pretty good leak & that was the radiator & we did not know that the radiator fan was not working until after that was fixed, just as you didn't.  I tried to call you today so that we could talk - would you please contact me? Thank you, [redacted] - [redacted] Auto Service 502/966-8644

Hi, Mr. [redacted] - I  understand that you took your car to the dealer to get a 2nd opinion, but I don't understand why you had me special order the intake gasket first. I read the invoice from the dealer that you sent to me & it did not explain how they determined that you have a blown head gasket. I know when we ck'd it for a blown head gasket by pressure testing & testing for hydrocarbons a month ago that it came back negative. And yes it could test negative in the early stages & then test positive a month later. I would just like to point out to you that when you first brought it in to us that you said the ck.engine light was on & it was missing - nothing was said about you adding A/F until 2 wks. later when you came back. We had swapped the coils to ck.for a bad coil and after that is when we ck'd it for a blown head gasket (all at no charge). The #4 cyl. has not had a problem per our conversation - only the #2 cyl. We had already eliminated some of the testing for them - they had more information to start with than we did. Even though I feel we did nothing wrong - in an effort of good will we will refund your money upon receiving a paid receipt from the dealer showing that they replaced the head gasket & since the intake will be off of course they will clean the EGR ports at the same time. Thank you - [redacted]

I think it is unacceptable the way business was conducted.  They claim that my radiator was my problem, I don't believe the leak was a big as they say, if it was then it wouldn't have been drive-able at all before taking it to be looked at.  It could have been overheating due to the thermostat or a number of other reasons.  I am not a mechanic but I believe they should have diagnosed the leaking instead of assuming it was just the radiator that I had suspected.  Like I said I am not a mechanic, I do know that my car was in better shape then when I dropped it off.  My fan did work, now it does not.  My water pump was NOT leaking as they say it was, the only problem they did fix was my wheel bearing.  I just want my money back for replacing the radiator.  I do not believe that was a major issue, they should have diagnosed the problem the right way.  Terrible business practices.  Now I have even more problems then before, I should have never let them look at my car.

Revdex.com:Dear Mrs. [redacted],I took my car to get a 2nd opinion, because I wanted to make sure [redacted] Auto Service would fix the problem as noted in the complaint letter on Sept.8,2015. As a frequent customer, I just wanted the problem to be solved and stop charging me for fixing things that are not working to solve this problem with my car. I do not know why it is necessary to show [redacted] Auto Service a receipt from the Neil Huffman Honda Service in the complaint letter on 9/18/15 ?  You cannot drive a car very long with a blown head gasket. I WILL get my car repaired  with the refund money $351.56.
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.
Regards,
[redacted]

Regards,
After I let the [redacted] Honda Dealer Technician look at my car on Sept. 14 2015 Monday, they found a blown head gasket at cylinder #2. Recommends new head gasket-deck head-replace which is very expensive. [redacted] Auto Service said they checked the head gasket and it was fine. I would like [redacted] Auto Service to refund my money $351.56 So I can let the [redacted] Honda Dealer Auto Service Fix my car.

[redacted]Hi, Mr. [redacted], I am sorry you are unhappy with the work we did on your 2005 Honda Civic on 7/28/15 and we want to work with you to...

make this right. I know when it first came in we ck'd it with a scanner & found an ox.sensor code as well as #2 & #4 cyl. misfire codes. We replaced all the spark plugs & #2 & #4 coils & you weren't worried about the ox.sensor. If I understand correctly the ck. engine light is back on for the #2 cyl. & now the #1 cyl., but not the #4 cyl. - so we did fix part of the problem? And I think they tried swapping the #2 & 4 coils to make sure we hadn't gotten a bad part & the miss stayed on the #2 cyl. We looked into it further on our end & it appears that there are a couple things that could be causing this #2 cyl.misfire - EGR valve passages stopping up is a common problem or a head issue. As we recommended previously the next step would be to pull the intake off to ck. the EGR ports & see if indeed they are stopped up or not. I propose that we will take care of the labor to do this if you will pay for the parts. It will need at least an intake gasket $22.93 (has to be special ordered) + cleaner & slight possibility of an EGR valve & adapter - we cannot tell until we get into it what it will need. FYI - if this is not the problem - then it is probably a head/valve issue - which is very expensive. I hope you feel that this is a fair resolution. Please let me know asap so that we may get it scheduled & the gasket ordered. Thank you[redacted] I spoke with Mr. [redacted] on Tuesday, Sept.8 about 12:30 pm & he has agreed to pay for the intake gasket & we will pull the intake manifold so we can ck. the EGR valve passages to see if they are stopped up. I have special ordered the gasket & Mr. [redacted] is to get back with me to schedule an appt. for next week. Thank you- [redacted]
