Perry Pools & Spas Reviews (2)

After reviewing Mrs [redacted] complaint, it is obvious that Perry Pools has responded in past years After conferring with the plaster company and a reputable leak detection service it was determined that their pool cracks were not due to poor quality in material and workmanship, but solely due to ground movement The integrity of the gunite shell was found to be water tight through the leak detection process.I was informed that the pool would continue to move and that it would be wise to let the pool finish moving Mrs [redacted] expressed that the cracks did get worse, as we suspected, and it was in March of this year that we felt comfortable enough to now address the cracks. With that being said, it specifically says in the contract that plaster is not warranted against discoloration, staining, chipping or cracking We already knew why the cracks occurred Please see attached article out of The Houston Chronicle, talking about exactly what we are dealing with. Now, as a reputable pool builder, and because of Mrs [redacted] patience, Perry Pools paid for cracks to be repaired and for her spa to be resurfaced Mrs [redacted] was informed by Perry Pools that the cracks in the pool would look like patches and she said she was aware of that These will continually fade in over time The plaster superintendent looked at the patches after the fact and said short of re plastering the pool, that is what patches look like

Review: I purchased a small vacant home in Fairfield that needed a complete renovation. There was a small pool in the yard which was 1/2 full. I had no idea if it worked or held water. I contracted [redacted] for $600.00 to do a one-time service to assess the pools integrity. I made it clear we had no interest or intention of using the pool. A month later I received a bill for over $3,000. I sent them a check for $600.00 as discussed and then [redacted] called to say "I don't have the time to deal with a small customer like you. I will have my attorney handle it over the winter". Today, I received a demand letter from a collection agency.Desired Settlement: On Jul 19, 2013, at 3:18 PM, "[redacted] wrote: [redacted],Sorry for the late response, your email ended up in my spam folder. So ifI understand you properly, you want to only "open" the pool. Meaning put itback together and see if it runs? If that is the case, then yes startfilling it and once its full let me know and I can schedule my men to getover there. One word of caution. When we were there, the water level wasdown, most likely because of some leak. As you are filling it.Periodically turn the hose off and mark the level to see if its holdingwater. Best way to do this is fill all day, mark it and check in the am.Repeat until its full. I would basicallylike to know if everything works and if not what the pool will need to be inworking order. So

Response:

Perry Pools and Spas has been in business for over 40 years. We have had an A+ rating for with the Revdex.com for decades, and we have such a record because of fair treatment of our customers for decades. Let me illuminate a few things that Mr [redacted] conveniently left out of his public complaint. The house is on Southport beach. The pool was most likely overrun by The Sandy storm last year, and was half full of mud and debris. When I first arrived the pool was half empty and green. I strongly suggested we completely empty the pool and power-wash the pool, then re-fill the pool as there was no possible way to estimate what was in the bottom of the pool, or how long it would take to clear it out. I also explained that if we emptied the pool I could give a very defined cost to get the pool to a swimable condition. Mr [redacted] accepted the risk that it would cost less to try to treat the water, and choose that option, and now does not want to pay for his choice that ended up being more expensive. Please see email below of one of our initial conversations.
