Our office has received and is aware of the written complain above referencedI'd like to start this letter by offering an apology to Mrs [redacted] if any time during our interaction I was rudeI perfectly recall the day of the incidentI was sitting behind the counter as usual when I see a young girl entered the door with the assistance of a dogShe went around the store as she was passing by the counter I tried to tell her, in my broken English, to keep the dog near her sideI never, at any point during the conversation, said or inferred that guide dogs were not allowedI am myself a handicapped person and understand the difficulties of getting around in this situationBecause of the nature of the merchandise in the store, easy to break small items, I meant to remind her not to loosen up the dog too much but I guess she did not understand what I was trying to sayMy primary language is Spanish and sometimes my English is hard to understand as I have a very strong accent. This business is in Old Sacramento and naturally, I receive a lot of handicapped individuals; on wheelchairs, assisted dogs, birds, etcIn seven years with the business I have never had an issue of this nature beforeAgain, a handicapped person myself, I respect and welcome anybody into the store; all I ask is that they show the same respect for my business.Once again, I sincerely apologize if I offended this customerI will make an attempt to better communicate with the customers from now on and as always, will focus on serving and valuing their needs.Sincerely, [redacted] , Owner

I am rejecting this response because:what she said happened did not occurShe clearly stated that she didn't care about the fact that the dog was licensed & allowed per the Federal Diability ActShe refused to listen to both my sister in law and then my husband when he tried to explain things to herShe told us that she would call the police if we did not leaveIf it was not for the fact that I had my infant grand child , who was asleep at the time, with us, we would have gladly waited for the authorities to arriveIt was extremely stressful for everone in our family to have received such treatment from a business that we had been into beforeThe fact that she is claiming this problem on her broken English, is a bunch of hooeyWe do not believe that this is the case at allShe just was called on her behavior and doesn't like it

I am rejecting this response because:what she said happened did not occur. She clearly stated that she didn't care about the fact that the dog was licensed & allowed per the Federal Diability Act. She refused to listen to both my sister in law and then my husband when he tried to explain things to her. She told us that she would call the police if we did not leave. If it was not for the fact that I had my infant grand child , who was asleep at the time, with us, we would have gladly waited for the authorities to arrive. It was extremely stressful for everone in our family to have received such treatment from a business that we had been into before. The fact that she is claiming this problem on her broken English, is a bunch of hooey. We do not believe that this is the case at all. She just was called on her behavior and doesn't like it.

Review: Hello, my family and I would like to file a complaint about a store we visited with family members in Sacramento today. The store in question is at 1105 Front Street in Old Sacramento.

It is called Peruvian Crafts I believe. My sister in law was told to leave the store because she had her guide dog with her. She is accredited and carries all of her legal identification at all times. When we tried to explain to them that the dog was allowed by law, we were told that they didn't care about any policy and to leave or the police would be called. We were also told that we couldn't enter the store with our grand daughter who was in her stroller.

She is only 6 months old and was asleep during most of this exchange. It is discrimination against the handicapped plain and simple that this business was doing.

I would like to know if there is anything else that can be done and will be calling Monday morning. If need be, I can be reached at this email or by phone at ###-###-####. Thank you. Sincerely, [redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like an explanation and an apology.
