Pest Logic out of Broward/FtLauderdale area was hired to trap stray cats at Axis Apartments in Wellington, FLThey trapped an OWNED, ear tipped, microchipped cat and AGAINST current Palm Beach County ordinance requirements, dumped the cat elsewhereAn owned, ear tipped cat MUST be immediately released from a trap when caught OR be brought to Animal Care and Control on Belevedere Road in WPBNeither was done as per the law by the Pest Logic trapperThe company then told the owner that they released the cat "a couple of miles away neat water."
The owner has been looking for this cat for MONTHS frantically and has reported Pest Logic to ACCThere is an open investigation into this case
The cat was recently found in a trailer park at Lawrence and Lantana RoadsThis is at least 10-miles away from its homeIt was left to fend for itself and was found starvingA Good Samaritan found the cat and nursed it back to healthShe then found the owner through the Microchip
This company is unethical and broke county laws here in Palm Beach CountyThey should be charged with abandonment and subject to penalties and/or criminal prosecutionI would NEVER use this company that did NOTHING to help the owner even to look for their petThe cat had gotten out from the house the day the trappers were thereAgain, the cat is EAR TIPPED which is a universal, visual indication that the cat is owned/microchipped, fixed, amd vaccinatedPer county ordinance, these cats are to be released from traps and only brought to ACC if they are injuredPest control companies and private trappers are NOT allowed to remove these cats for ANY reason other thanTNVR purposes (and they must be returned after spay/neuter) or for injuriesIn case of injuries they are to be returned to Animal Care and ControlNeither wa done by Pest LogicThey dumped an owned cat miles away from its home and left it to die!
