Pet Coral Resort & Veterinary Reviews (7)

I have used Pet Coral for our dog's health and boarding needs ever since we moved to Cape Coral two years ago We had never had an issue until we needed to board our dog in June of It was time for his shots and a cheso we scheduled for all of this to happen prior to boarding him (costs over $200) A few days later our family pet stayed there for nights We came back in town and were finally able to pick up our furry family member and paid over $for boarding It was a Thursday and upon getting home with our canine we noticed he was sniffing and blowing air out of his nose more than usual but we dismissed it for him being excited and sniffing everyone Over the next few days the problem got worse and by Sunday our dog was sneezing, blowing air out of his nose consistently, and was leaking a clear liquid from his nose Monday morning I called Pet Coral and let them know that our family pet may have picked up something from when he stayed with them and that we needed the vet to get in-touch with us The vet did call me that day and had me bring our family member in right away, which was great They did not charge us for the appointment but they did charge us for the antibiotic that they wanted to put him on and an ear cleaner that they wanted me to use as his ears looked inflamed as well So almost $later we walked out of the vet, not knowing what was wrong, but with medicine in tow and knowing that they had swabbed his throat and that the sample was on its way to the lab I started the medication as it was prescribed but by Tuesday night he seemed to be getting worse and had started to hack like he was trying to cough something up which seemed to be knocking the air out of him plus all the sneezing and drainage from his nose, as well as an increase in salivation from his mouth and a decrease in his energy level Wednesday I called the vet to let them know that he was doing worse The response I received is where I have the biggest problem with this whole incident I was informed that they would let the vet know on Friday of our concerns as the vet does not work on Wednesdays and Thursdays and they have NO WAY of making contact with her; which makes no sense! How in the world do you operate a vet office and have no doctor on duty during regular business hours? Isn't it just for all forms of businesses to be open AND functional during the workweek? They had not a care in the world about my pet, even though he had gotten sick on their watch This is also the first time I have ever had a vet office tell me that I should go to another vet if I was concerned I don't think I should have to go to another vet as my dog is sick and having issues due to this facility It is extremely unfair for this business to expect a pet owner to drop almost $in a two week period of time just to send their patient and their problem to another vet so that they can clean up the mess leaving the pet owner with an even bigger out-of-pocket expense This business needs to be more responsible and realize that they are a doctor's office for pets, they should be on-call, just as any other doctor would be, and should have a doctor on staff during regular business hours and throughout the workweek; which in case Pet Coral didn't know is Monday - Friday Also I would like to state for the record that I feel that it is very misleading and careless to have a pet boarding facility and vet office combo that doesn't actually have a vet on staff What happens if there were an emergency with one of the animals that are there for doggy daycare, or being boarded, or a patient that has an issue? I feel people drop their pets off at this particular business for doggy daycare and boarding because they feel like it's safe because of the vet but that is just not the case Of course the office did try to contact me a little while later to offer us to bring in our pet to be looked at by a "vet tech" but I feel that this was inappropriate given the circumstances and magnitude of the problem Also the person who called is the same individual who started trying to cover the businesses [redacted] by immediately denying that they have had any other dogs with these symptoms and trying to refocus the conversation on "what I was doing for the good of my dog" all of this and I wasn't even blaming this business for his sickness, I was just trying to get my dog help All I wanted was for the vet to talk to me on the phone and let me know what she thought I should do and instead I got the "pass the buck" mentality from a woman that seemed to think it was okay to try and talk over me on the phone I would also like to state that this is the only place my dog could have gotten anything from as we only have one pet, he is an inside dog, hadn't been around any other animals, and he was healthy when he went in and days later upon pihe was notIt's not rocket science

Do not take your pet to this place! I recently boarded my dog at Pet CoralHe has stayed there before without issue, but I guess they are now under "new management" and I can tell you that they are horrible First they demanded that he have a dog influenza shot and charged me a $office visit fee to do so on top of the $I'm spending to boardI questioned the need for the vaccine because I have read over and over again by other Vets that it is not necessary and there is not even a reported case in the areaI was told by the front desk that I could not board and they would not accept my dog unless I signed the form giving them permission to give him the shotI paid for him to be in doggy day care while he was there for four nights When we picked him up, he was sitting in the corner all by himself while the other dogs were playing in the other sectioned off room The front desk person went to the room and when she tried to put the leash on him, she wouldn't touch his neck and had the other dog handler reach over the wall and hold his mouth while she attached the leash to his collar as not to touch him I mentioned to my daughter while we watched this that she was acting strange and wondered what that was about, but when she brought our dog out she didn't say anything We brought our dog home and he was scratching insistently At first I thought he probably got fleas while at the kennel, but last night when he just wouldn't stop scratching, I noticed his hair is falling out around the underside of his neck and his skin is like raw red meat Poor Baby! I called Pet Coral this morning and was told by the person answering the phone that it was probably just a reaction to the vaccine and she would have the vet call me The vaccine I didn't even want to give him?!?! When the vet called she said it couldn't be a reaction to the vaccine because it had been too long since the injectionI told her that I wasn't the one who suggested a reaction - that it was her staff The vet suggested that it could be a change in food, detergent, etc., that caused the reactionI explained that there has been no change in diet, bedding, detergent at my house and that my dog is never even left outside by himself and he is not around other dogs, so I can't imagine what it could be He has never had any skin issues and never scratches - but has been scratching ever since he came home from Pet CoralI asked her if there was any issues with other dogs or a possible mange infestationShe said no, but immediately said that if it was mange she would need to know because she would have to inform the other boarders I told her that if it was anything like that then my dog contracted it from them as I said my dog has only been exposed to other dogs, bedding, etc., while in Pet Coral's care She said even if that's the case, then I will need to contact the other ownersI told her if that is the case, then someone already brought it into the kennel and that's how my dog got it As I told her, I don't know what it is but whatever is causing this came from their facility! I failed to mention the fact that the Vet I'm was speaking to left me a phone message and gave my dog a complete clean bill of health and said his eyes, ears, skin, coat and teeth were completely clear, clean and looking great on his first day of boarding with themBUT NOW after boarding he is now losing hair, has a horrific rash or worse?!?! The place is horrible - I don't know who this new management is, but you would be better to stay away if you care about your pet Just shamefulAll this for nights at a cost of $and most likely expensive vet bills to come I will never take my dog there again!!!!

I wrote a negative review about PetCoral in June of because of an incident that occurred with my dog Buster The incident that occurred basically involved a company that was going through growing pains and Buster and me getting caught in the middle of some chaos that turned into the perfect storm (anyone who has ever owned a business knows that these kinds of occasions are just par for the course and are part of a growing and thriving business) I was assured by management at that time that changes and new hires were on the horizon in order for them to accommodate their customers and the wonderful pets that come through their door on a daily basis I have elected to edit my review of PetCoral in order to change it into a positive assessment The assurances that management made to me last June were NOT just broken promises told to an irate customer to get them to calm down I feel that PetCoral has really worked hard to perform the necessary actions to not only make it through their "growing pains" but to better themselves in the process I recently gave PetCoral a second chance and was very happy with the veterinarian, DrHerrera She is a very happy, outgoing individual who truly cares about her patients and their owners After Buster's trip to the vet I was so comfortable with the facility that I chose to let Buster stay in their care for a couple of nights while I had to go out of town They took great care of my crazy fur baby (Buster is a Boxer and can be quite the handful) If you are reading this review here is the important information that you need to take away from this assessment: PetCoral is a clean facility that strives to exceed expectations It is a place that is full of staff members that adore and love animals They are equipped with a wonderful vet who is very knowledgeable and who is ready to assist any animal in need They are a very trustworthy group of people They have a management team that do not mind talking to you and that want to make sure that you and your pet are happy with their facility If you have never been to PetCoral and you are reading this review to see if this is a place you should bring your pet I ask that you do one simple thing, go into PetCoral and just watch From the staff members outside monitoring dogs in doggy day care to the office staff busy at work behind the counter you will see a group of individuals who take their jobs seriously but also love what they do It's almost impossible to go inside this place without seeing smiling faces on the staff and lots of interaction with the animals that are there; a picture truly can be worth a thousand words I highly recommend PetCoral and all of their services

Our dog was viciously attacked while in their carewe lost several thousand dollars in Condo feesTried to obtain contact info for their insurance
Our Labradoodle, Yankee, sustained significant injuries while in the care of Pet Coral on April 2, We received a call from the Veterinarian and later from the office manager saying a new employee put Yankee out with a dog known to be non-social It is undisputed that those injuries were caused when he was brutally attacked by another dog that had previously been identified as non-social and was to be segregated from other animals Despite full knowledge of its aggressive and violent propensities, their staff, carelessly and in violation of their own policies and procedures, allowed this dog into a common area where it savagely attacked Yankee When I asked the Vet if we should return to Cape Coral she said she thought it was a good ideaBoth she and the office manager agreed that there was no excuse for what happened
As a

Horrible experience at PetCoral Resort
Horrible experience at PetCoral Resort and VeterinaryMy dog was there for Labor Day and got a huge rash under his neck with raw skin and soaked like he had dipped his head in a poolAnd extremely painfulHe was crying from the moment I picked him upThe worker who was tending to him stated he was wet from playing in his water bowl1st lieI asked another worker if he had been playing with other dogs, and that worker stated that he played well with the other dogsI then told him he was specifically instructed to not be around other dogs for the duration of his stayLie number I called and spoke to the manager later and she wanted me to bring him in to their vetWe obviously said no since we were already suspect of their bad practicesSo I stated I would take him to our own vetShe was apologetic for the lies from her workers and agreed to pay for the vet bill - they were to just fax/email it over
They did email it over that nigh

I have used Pet Coral for our dog's health and boarding needs ever since we moved to Cape Coral two years ago. We had never had an issue until we needed to board our dog in June of 2016. It was time for his shots and a check-up so we scheduled for all of this to happen prior to boarding him (costs over $200). A few days later our family pet stayed there for 6 nights. We came back in town and were finally able to pick up our furry family member and paid over $200 for boarding. It was a Thursday and upon getting home with our canine we noticed he was sniffing and blowing air out of his nose more than usual but we dismissed it for him being excited and sniffing everyone. Over the next few days the problem got worse and by Sunday our dog was sneezing, blowing air out of his nose consistently, and was leaking a clear liquid from his nose. Monday morning I called Pet Coral and let them know that our family pet may have picked up something from when he stayed with them and that we needed the vet to get in-touch with us. The vet did call me that day and had me bring our family member in right away, which was great. They did not charge us for the appointment but they did charge us for the antibiotic that they wanted to put him on and an ear cleaner that they wanted me to use as his ears looked inflamed as well. I don't think I should have to go to another vet as my dog is sick and having issues due to this facility. It is extremely unfair for this business to expect a pet owner to drop almost $600 in a two week period of time just to send their patient and their problem to another vet so that they can clean up the mess leaving the pet owner with an even bigger out-of-pocket expense. This business needs to be more responsible and realize that they are a doctor's office for pets, they should be on-call, just as any other doctor would be, and should have a doctor on staff during regular business hours and throughout the workweek; which in case Pet Coral didn't know is Monday - Friday. First they demanded that he have a dog influenza shot and charged me a $30.00 office visit fee to do so on top of the $200.00 I'm spending to board. I questioned the need for the vaccine because I have read over and over again by other Vets that it is not necessary and there is not even a reported case in the area. I was told by the front desk that I could not board and they would not accept my dog unless I signed the form giving them permission to give him the shot. When the vet called she said it couldn't be a reaction to the vaccine because it had been too long since the injection. I told her that I wasn't the one who suggested a reaction - that it was her staff. The vet suggested that it could be a change in food, detergent, etc., that caused the reaction. I explained that there has been no change in diet, bedding, detergent at my house and that my dog is never even left outside by himself and he is not around other dogs, so I can't imagine what it could be. He has never had any skin issues and never scratches - but has been scratching ever since he came home from Pet Coral. I asked her if there was any issues with other dogs or a possible mange infestation. She said no, but immediately said that if it was mange she would need to know because she would have to inform the other boarders. I told her that if it was anything like that then my dog contracted it from them as I said my dog has only been exposed to other dogs, bedding, etc., while in Pet Coral's care. She said even if that's the case, then I will need to contact the other owners. I told her if that is the case, then someone already brought it into the kennel and that's how my dog got it. The place is horrible - I don't know who this new management is, but you would be better to stay away if you care about your pet. Just shameful. All this for 4 nights at a cost of $279.00 and most likely expensive vet bills to come. I will never take my dog there again!!!!
