Pet Place II

Review: We bought our child a hedgehog from Pet Place II in Nanuet, New York on 4/**/15 for a birthday present for $335.00.We spent another $80.00 for all the necessities for the hedgehog on different days. We even bought a heating lamp and thermostat to make sure she was not cold. We took care of the hedgehog very well. The cage was always clean from fetus and urine. We gave her clean food and water everyday. We never used any chemicals to clean. Since she was young, we did not handle her all the time. On 5/*/15 the hedgehog died. Our child was devastated!!! We called the store several times and the owner was not in. He finally called us later that day. We told him the situation and said that for $150.00 he can give us another one. We asked if we can compromise and give us back $150.00 and when he gets more hedgehogs in, we will buy another one at full price.We were not asking for the full amount, since we had her for 3 weeks. We thought that was fair. He told us that he needed to make money and that was not possible. We even spoke to him in person later that day. He gave us the same answer.He also told us if the hedgehog died less than a week of purchase, he might of been able to do something.Normally, if purchase any kind of pet, you can get some kind of refund/exchange. Our receipt had no return/refund policy outlined. We decided to call our credit card company and dispute the full amount since we were so upset on how the owner handle the situation. We did not want to file with Revdex.com because we wanted to handle it in private. Unfortunately, the our credit card company could not do anything. We are upset that the hedgehog was either sick for the beginning or it was too small to be taking from its mother. We only had the hedgehog less than a month.Desired Settlement: If we can get back $150.00 from Pet Place II our family would be satisfied. We believe that the owner is still be making money from our transaction if we received $150.00 back. We spent the total of $415.00 at the pet store, That included the hedgehog,food,cage,bedding,meal worms,heating lamp, thermostat and exercise wheel. We believe that we are being fair and reasonable.
