My dog had hurt his leg before my trip and leg was wrapped and the dog sitter seemed very annoyed by this and apparently had a lot of dog walks throughout the weekend while I was gone. My dog was in no pain and we told the vet we were leaving and they said once we returned after a couple days, he could have wrap taken off. The dog walker complained and swore he was in so much pain and dropped him off at the vet because this seemed to be a inconvenience to her and the vet said the girl came in acting a little weird dropped my dog off quick and left very quickly. After she did this the vet also stated my dog was fine and did not seem in pain or have any issues as the doc walker had stated. She started sending updates and did not seem so out of sorts and disorganized. They were so rude, mean and sent awful text to me throughout this horrible experience.
Red flags went up when I did not receive a update and picture for the first two visits and I had to contact them to ask if visits were Done and "person in charge" said the dog walkers phone died and that she also needed to get home and walk her own dogs and she was overwhelmed with all of her visits and she openly admitted this to me.
They also told me how my dog had got lose while in their care and it was because I didn't have leashes and once I explained where they were as I told them and showed them during our first meeting they then later stated I didn't have the right kind of leash so I had to explain again their were a number of different types of leashes exactly where I had shown them initially.
When I finally did receive updates the messages were rude and I cannot believe that these people were in my home and caring for my pets while I was away. They have no problem treating their clients like they are replaceable. I had to ask after a few days how my bird was because I had no update on how he was doing or pictures. Their response was "most companies charge for pictures and updates" I was lucky to get the ones I got I guess. I used to work as a dog walker and send pictures/videos and updates for free on every visit, with every pet.

We have used PSA for our insurance since we started our business in 2003. Over the years PSA has listened to pet sitters and added benefits that make their insurance one of the top 2 choices in the USA imho. And they've always kept their rates as low. For us (my husband and I) they've always been the least expensive despite having extra features and options like covering young pet sitters (minors) and emergency vet visits where the pet sitter is not liable for an injury or illness and a client won't pay. They even added a free bond to their policy knowing that their 'theft insurance' covered sitters better than any bond - simply because clients were getting confused by sitters having to explain why they weren't "bonded".
We've asked lots of questions over the years, and they've written back or called to give very detailed information within a couple of days. Sometimes it's not been quite 100% accurate (seemed to be a common theme with all pet sitting insurers - at least back in the mid 2000's), but we have always been able to get confirmations, clarifications, and corrections promptly from PSA reps.
We've never had to file a claim with them (knock on wood!) so I can't comment on that process. But we've met one of the people who helped put this plan together at a pet sitting conference many years ago, and have complete faith that the company would be honest and helpful if a claim occurred.
