Pet Village Reviews (%countItem)

We bought a puppy, described as a Registered puppy. She was born September 23,2017, we were told she was 8 wks. old. When later we noticed she was only 7 weeks old. While there, the owner was not friendly and doesn't offer any information and doesn't seem to want to help with your service. During the time we had her she was given the normal shots at the Vet Clinic for her age and given the normal check up. On November of this year we took her to the Vet Clinic for she had been throwing up. We were told she had Kidney Failure, can have treatment but it won't cure her. She was given treatment on the next day, and also on the 26th. We were then told there wasn't anything more to help her, she won't survive. So we decided to have her go to sleep and be cremated. She was our dear sweet pet, loved a lot and we are so heartbroken. She was only 14 months old. We were told by the Vet this doesn't happen till l0 or 11 years old!! We feel this was from a back yard Breeder that this owner sells from. So hard for us to buy a pet and come into our hearts just to be taken away. This is just a money hungry owner that just doesn't care about the tragedy it does to someone. She should be shut down!!!!
Product_Or_Service: Female Miniature Daschund

Desired Outcome

Refund refund and pay our Vet Bills, plus cremation

Pet Village Response • Nov 28, 2018

Mrs. purchased a Miniature Dachshund puppy from Pet Village on November 17, 2017. At that time, she was given the puppy's health recored, registration papers and a copy of our health guarantee. Also included were feeding instructions and the suggested date for the next set of shots. Just like with all of our customers, time was taken to explain the importance of proper feeding and continue vet. care. In addition, we extended the time for the health guarantee for several days because she could not get an appointment for the next day.

Approximately 10 days ago Mrs. and her husband came in my shop to let me know that the puppy was having health problems. They had not been in touch with me about these problem previously. I explained to them that it would be necessary for their vet. to call me to let me know more about the issue and I requested that they have their vet. call me. I have not heard back from them or from their vet.

Many vets. will not talk to a third party with out the permission of the pet's owner. They go by the same laws and guidelines as human doctors. Therefore, I alway request that the pet's owner ask the vet. to call me. That also allows the vet. to call me at their convenience. I did not receive a call from the vet. and did not hear back from the***s.

Our policy in the case of illness is to let the breeder know about the problem and work out a refund or replacement of the pet. I cannot do this without the information from the pet's ***. Most vets. will email a copy of the pet's records to me at the pet's owner's request.

Sadly, the***'s spent their time contacting you instead of the vet. That puts me in a position that makes it difficult to assist them. If they are interested in getting back in touch with me, I will be glad to try to settle this matter to their satisfaction. If they would like for their vet. to contact me, he can call*** or email me at ***

I have been in business for 41 years and have know this breeder for quite a while. Neither of us wants a customer to have a problem with a puppy but just like with human's, every animal is not perfect. That is not poor breeding, it is just a sad part of ***. I am sorry that the***'s had a problem and regret that they did not contact me sooner for assistance.

Thank you for your help in this matter.

After speaking to the owner of Pet Village we have agreed to accept her offer of the purchase fee of $450.00 and are not looking for any additional expenses occurred by us in the treatment and cremation of our pet dog. The owner of Pet Village had requested our Veterinarian contact her concerning our pet diagnosis but elected not to, therefor *** contacted Clover Vet, but no definitive resolution as to pets passing *** be concluded.

After talking to the breeder and the vet.,I contacted Mr. to let him know that we are willing to give him a refund on the puppy. I also explained to him that the vet. was in no way able to determine that the problem was genetic. However, the breeder and I feel that it is fair to refund his money.

I also explained that we would not pay his vet. bill because he did not contact us until a year after the puppy was diagnosed.

He said that he needed time to "think about" being satisified with this offer.

Bought a dog who is only 8 months old who developed health issues, Medial LUXATING Patella
Bought a Toy Aussie Sheppard for $575.00 from this store on February 17, 2018, who as of this date is not quite 8 months old, she has recently been diagnosed by my vet at*** with Medial LUXATING Patella, my Vet says this hereditary and came form her parents, since this dog was bought with AKC promise. It is very obvious this business does not screen their breeders, and now I am facing thousands of dollars in surgery costs, I have not contacted this store as I did a review of paperwork and it says they are not responsible after 24 hours for any health issues. I just want other buyers to beware of purchasing anything from them., as this puppy came form a litter of 5 and more than likely her brothers and sisters will have the same issue.

Desired Outcome

Refund and or cost of surgery

On August 20th I was contacted by your company concerning a complaint made by *** On the same day, I was notified by*** that a negative review was sent to them by *** Sadly, he has not contacted me which would be a more appropriate way to handle this problem.

I have phoned *** but he has not returned my call. I have also phoned ***. The vet.report states that the puppy is due to return to the clinic for a recheck after Aug. 23rd to see if the medicine he is taking has helped.

Although the problem that the puppy is having is genetic, it is not the fault of the breeder or of Pet Village. Just like with humans, all things can not be seen in advance. Neither of the parents have Luxating Patellas and no other pups have been know to have that problem.

Pet Village is willing to work our a fair settlement with ***. First I am requesting that he remove the negative review from *** and any other place on the internet that it appears. It is unfair to try to hurt a business before discussing a problem with it's owner.

We will be glad to work out a settlement with him just as we do with any of our customers who come to us with a problem. That has been our policy for 41 years and there is no reason for *** to think his issue will be any different.

I would like a copy of the vet.report after the puppy's recheck and proof that the negative reviews have been removed. At that time, I will gladly help *** resolve this problem.
