Peter Bessette Construction Reviews (2)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # [redacted]. Please add your rejection comments below. Upon the intial inspection by [redacted] we discussed what the insurance adjuster stated, to REMOVE the wet drywall and replace/repair. We also discussed some minor settling cracks in the same ceilings but different areas than the water damage. He stated that was a very easy repair and would done all at the same time. Through out the “repair” process when I would point out areas I was constantly told all would be repaired and look good. When the drywall expert he also stated that it was an easy fix not to worry. On the day scheduled for ceiling repair, a different person came and just put joint compound on any cracks or water stains he saw, I asked about removal of stained (formally wet) drywall he told me that he was told to just skim it. He was here for less than 3 hours to do two rooms. I was then told the repairs to the ceiling were complete. I could still see cracks and stains when I brought this to [redacted] attention he said the painter would sand and paint and it would look great. That was not the case, with-in a day after painting the cracks, seams and stains were very visible. I called Mr. Bessette many times, he would occasionally stop by for no longer than a few minutes, always saying don’t worry we will get it all fixed it will look good. After many weeks [redacted] finally arraigned to have his drywall expert come to our home, Upon discussion with the expert it was explained to us that the painter should not have painted as the ceilings were not repaired as they should have been first that the paint actually caused more cracks to appear, pulling the actual drywall away from the studs, we are now able to move the ceiling with a light touch of our hands. The expert explained that there was now a process that needed to be done to avoid removal of entire ceiling, as skimming will not adhere to the paint. He left our home to speak with [redacted], stating “He’s not going to to be happy”. We did not hear from him or [redacted] again for more than a week. When Mr. Bessette finally called he said that he did not agree with his expert but would get our ceiling repaired for us. We requested a meeting with both him and the expert together to discuss what to do.Mr. Bessette seems to have forgotten that he along with us made 2 appointments with his drywall expert.. Time was taken off from work by us to meet with them but both appointments resulted in a no show by this expert. He then sent his painter to look at it and repair the ceilings, Upon entering our home the painter went into the room and stated. “I can not fix this you need a drywaller” When continuing to look he explained that since [redacted] asked him to repair it he would attempt to secure it with screws, lightly skim and repaint it. I asked him if the cracks and seams would then be gone and he stated no, they would still show. I then told him that would not be a satisfactory repair and to please tell [redacted] exactly what he told me that he could not do it and we needed a drywall person. I then attempted to reach Mr. Bessette by telephone every day for 2 weeks, leaving a message each day. I never heard back from him. I have phone records to back this up. [redacted] began repairs on our ceilings on June 9th. Sept 3rd was my last attempt to reach him.We have recently had 3 other Contractors come and inspect, each one said the same thing. It was not repaired properly, as a result the entire Living room ceiling and a section of the bedroom ceiling has to be removed and replaced. We have had to hire another company and work will be done soon at our expense.    Regards,
[redacted]

This letter is in response to [redacted]'s complaint listed above. Damage to ceilings were minimal, approximately 4 sheets of Drywall were damaged. The original work prior to my hiring was subpar, all seams were showing transition between wall and ceiling on stairwell corner bead were all creased....

we installed mud on seam corners and bead areas, that were damaged, then sanded and painted. The [redacted]'s complaint was that they want new ceilings paid for when it was only a repair job. I received $4, 200.00 for replacing 4' window with [redacted] Double Hung, removed all siding. reinstalled and trimmed exterior of window. All ceilings a 100% improvement that before. sent my painter back to do some more repair work, but the [redacted]'s refused. the [redacted]'s want the entire ceiling all skim coated. I have been a General Contractor for over 42 years and have never had a complaint. The dry wall contractor who repaired the damage also had been in business over 30 years. Thank you for your consideration. I can be reached on my cell #[redacted] with any further questions you may have.
