Pete's Pro Truck & Auto Repair Reviews (%countItem)

My son was traveling from Florida to California, and his F350 broke down in Albequerque. He left it with Petes for 2 weeks and they were unable to find an obvious turbo charger hose that was burned due to a secondary cooling system issue. He fixed the burned hose in a parts store parking lot. Which did not last due to the failed secondary cooling system. I told them that there was a problem with the secondary cooling system, due to a transmission over heat issue, and they wanted to replace the transmission cooler and install a larger transmission pan.

Mr. Clancy, we are sorry that you feel that your son had a negative experience with us. The vehicle was brought to us on Dec the 26. Your son brought it to us, explaining that he had gotten bad fuel. He had samples in the rear. He stated that his vehicle was stalling and smoking. He also advised us that he wanted to put an auxiliary cooler, new injectors and a upgrade. He left the vehicle and we gave him a ride to the rental car dealer that was 50 miles out of our way at no charge. We explained to him that we couldn't look at his truck immediately, he told us it was no problem because he was getting a rental and going to California. His Dad, Sean called on Jan 2nd, to ask us to please let him know what was going on. We were getting the quote ready at that time. Now I am dealing with both father and son. This is one week from the time we received the vehicle. After making recommendations to Kyle, based on what he wanted us to do. We never diagnosed the vehicle for anything. He told us about the bad fuel, so we, at this point tested the fuel and there was water in the fuel, got permission to drop the tank, clean it and the lines and replace fuel filter. We also call for approval on our recommendations. After speaking with both father and son, they both declined our recommendations and only approved the cleaning out of the fuel and to service the tranny and to vacuum fill the secondary coolant tank. This is on the fourth of January. His father said the truck needed to be out by Monday, no matter what. We did the service that was asked of us and we had the truck ready on Monday. Kyle didn't get here until Friday to pick up the truck. We followed him back another 40 miles to turn in the rental at no charge. If we would have been allowed to properly diagnose the vehicle ourselves without third party diagnosing, telling us what to do and not declining the work we recommended. We would not have let the vehicle go until it was running correctly, which is was. We drove it for 40 miles and there was no problem, other then the obvious issues he had had with his previous upgrade. We didn't do any repairs to the vehicle, only service and cleaning the fuel.

When my son picked the truck up from your shop, he called me complaining of lack of power and excessive smoke. I asked my diesel tech what he thought, and he said to check the hose from the intercooler to the intake. Sure enough it was burned thru. The secondary cooling system was not cooling the transmission or the charge air. Wow you drove that truck 40 miles and did not notice the hose from the intercooler to the intake was burned thru. The engine could not produce any boost and was smoking. I have a picture of the burned hose that my son replaced in the parts store parking lot, right after he left your shop. If I had not gotten involved he would have a new transmission cooler and a larger transmission pan that would not have fixed anything but your wallet. Good thing we did not spend the money to replace the transmission cooler and buy the larger transmission pan that you recommended. I mentioned on the phone that there was a problem with the secondary cooling system. That is why the transmission was running hot and also why the charge air cooler hose was burned thru
