Pawsitive solutions INC. Also known as petland. We bought a puppy from petland in Fairfax Virginia in end of December 2015. Few days later at petland's suggested and paid for vets office, we found out new 8weeks old puppy has parasite called giardia. Vet mentioned many puppies from petland has them and it is s very hard parasite to get rid of. First and second rounds of medication didn't get rid of it. Which pawsolution paid for but they declined to pay for third round of medication. Which means we could be paying for something new puppy came with from beginning and we don't know how much all those are going to cost us. Now our 10yrs old son loves his new puppy so there is no way of going back for us. What's the most upsetting with this company is that they said it's not their responsibility after two rounds of Meds. Clearly these people don't care about puppies they sell. I guess this is what people call puppy mills. I hope this help and warn others about petland and pawsitive solutions INC.

Review: On Saturday, August 10, 2013, I purchased a male dapple colored miniature dachshund from Petland [redacted]. At the time of purchase, the puppy was shaking and huddled in the corner but their store clerk stated that it was nervous around all the people. After I brought him home, the shaking continued but I thought it was nerves at being in a new environment. On the Monday night, August 12, 2013, the puppy, named [redacted], started vomiting. On Tuesday, he had diarrhea in addition to the vomiting and continued shaking. He was taken to our vet on Wednesday, morning, August 14 and again on Thursday, August 15, 2013 where we accumulated approximately $600 in vet costs. Petland representatives informed us that any further treatment needed to be provided by [redacted] Veterinary Hospital. We transported [redacted] from our vet to the [redacted] Veterinary Hospital on Thursday evening, August 15, 2013 where it was confirmed that [redacted] had Parvovirus. [redacted] died sometime during the night of August 16, 2013. Less than one week from the time of purchase.

My complaint is that Petland [redacted] sold me a very sick puppy that they represented as being healthy. At the time of purchase the puppy had a very contagious and deadly disease called Parvovirus which has symptoms including severe dehydration from vomiting and diarrhea but is actually a virus that attacks the intestines and cardio system.

Furthermore, Petland would not authorize taking the puppy to the 24-hour emergency critical care hospital to get the treatment that this puppy required to survive. Petland insisted that the puppy be treated by their vet, [redacted] does not have anyone in their office after 8:00pm to provide emergency care. The puppy’s condition was critical; he was shaking, had lost weight, was vomiting and had constant diarrhea and was severely dehydrated. He was denied the around the clock care that he needed to survive. To leave the puppy alone overnight without care was inadequate and inhumane.

Lastly, they refused to issue a refund of the purchase price after the puppy died. This is contradictory to Virginia state law which indicates that the consumer has a choice of either a refund or replacement puppy if there is a problem with the puppy within 10 days of purchase. This puppy died 6 days after purchase. I requested a refund and they are refusing my request.Desired Settlement: I am seeking a full refund of the purchase price.

Review: I took my three birds (two parakeets and one green cheek conure) to have their nails and wings clipped. I warned the staff that the parakeets have not had their nails clipped so they might be skittish. They took the birds back and I waited outside. 20 minutes later I was asked to come back into the employee's area because there was a problem...the technician had KILLED one of the PARAKEETS, because she said the bird was trying to fly out of her hands so she held it tighter but in the process accidentally snapped it's neck. How is that possible? When she has been doing this for 11 years (per her words and those of manager's)However, I would like to note that this employee ([redacted]) was on her [redacted] set, still talking to someone while I was in the room, and I saw them on her full-screen [redacted] video she had on her laptop that was set up right where she was working. The bird was literally on the edge of the laptop, clearly this employee was distracted! On top of that, the sales manager, [redacted], had horrible customer service, and said that this is not worth a fuss over just a bird. He claimed that if it was a dog it's different they are more expensive, however these are cheap birds and you can just replace them. He did not believe in any emotional investment one might have in their non-dog pets what-so-ever. He did in fact have a smirk on his face the whole time, and his words were "yeah I'll have a smirk on because this is not worth a fuss over a bird!" To top it off, the next day when we went back to talk to the store owner, the technician claimed that she did not in fact kill the bird, the bird was already dead! (Why in the world would someone bring in a dead bird to have their wings and nails clipped?) The whole matter was handled incorrectly with no sensitivity to their client. They simply said oh-well, it happened.Desired Settlement: A refund ($20 is the cost of another parakeet I purchased so as to not wait too long to introduce another bird to the remaining parakeet, and another bird of choice.

I went into Pet land in Sept of 2015 to purchase a puppy that I saw online. The experience in the store was nice but when I got home with my new puppy things went completely wrong. The store Manager Jermey told me the puppy was sick before and that he was better. When I got home the puppy was coughing and wheezing. When I called them they told me to take him to Potomac Valley Pet hospital whom they work closely with for treatments. The vet told me to change the temperature in my home, which I did. My puppy's cough got worse and I called the vet back .They asked me to come in again and I had to take him back .Before I took him back I called Jermey and asked him if I could return the puppy and he told me to call Pawsitive solutons. They told me once I have him I can not bring him back for refund after 48 hours. What they didn't tell me was that they get their puppies from puppy mills and they take them away from their parents 4 weeks after born which is WRONG! The vet prescribed me an antibiotic and told me to try it for 10 days. That did not work which resulted in me taking him back for an alternate option. The vet diagnosed him with kennel cough and prescribed a nebulization treatment. Overall this place is a nightmare and this experience was a nightmare. There were several small breed dogs in the waiting room with their pet owners that came from Pet land. They all said their dog had a different health issue which is very sad. I would never shop here or do business with them again.
