I purchased an engagement ring through Petra Gems, as I was referred by a friend that had a great experience. Sharif emailed me right away and guided me through the process. He was extremely helpful and always got back to me with answers to my questions immediately. When I got the ring, I could not believe how beautiful it was. Had a pair of princess cut solitaire earrings I wanted reset. I knew what I wanted but was unable to find it in my local jeweler. What I did find was way overly priced so I did a query online and came up with Petra Gems. They had exactly what I wanted and at a very reasonable price. I reviewed Petra Gems on the Revdex.com before I purchased. Everything I read was positive...too positive. I thought there was a tiny chance it was all part of an incredibly elaborate scam. But I was willing to take a risk on it since everything I read on any website suggested the company was professional and courteous. I'm very glad I did. I spoke with the owner personally, as I saw many had. He arranged a layaway plan that worked for me. When I had the money to clear the balance he was prompt with the sizing and delivery. When I got the ring it was even better than I had imagined in my head.
Again, I was skeptical at first. When I called for the first time the phone rang for an excessive amount of time. Don't let this deter you. I would recommend Petra Gems to anyone.

I was a little nervous making a big purchase like an engagement ring over the internet. I think it was Sharif's helpfulness and attention that made me pull the trigger as well as a ton of good reviews on etsy of Petra Gems. The whole process took over a month as I was very picky on the diamond proportions. Sharif was patient and sent me different diamonds he found every other day throughout the process and he always responded quickly to any questions I had. Sharif was awesome to work with. I had my engagement ring recreated after the jeweler lost my original and was unable to reproduce it to the same standards. With just one picture Petra Gems was able to recreate a ring that my husband and I feel looked better than the original for almost 50% less than what we paid retail.

I had a very good experience with Petra Gems. I did a lot of research and found that they had the lowest price listed for the particular diamond that I wanted. This was a diamond that they did not have in stock but was listed on one of the exchanges. I compared the exact same diamond (same GIA report number) on several websites and found that Petra Gems had the lowest mark up on that particular diamond. They also had the type of setting that I wanted at a very good price.

The customer service was excellent from a website. The owner Sharif was very helpful and accommodating. He helped me customize the setting that I chose so that it was exactly what I wanted. He kept me informed of the progress and answered emails within 24 hours.

One downside: from the time I made the purchase to the time I received the ring was about 3 weeks. I got the feeling that the person making the setting was not an in house employee and may have been a contract with another person or business. However he did it, he produced an amazing ring at an amazing price.

The ring is beautiful. Through my research I had a good idea of what qualities I wanted in the diamond and what would look good. I ordered a vs1 quality, e color, excellent symmetry, excellent polish stone, with dimensions in the optimal range for reflecting light. I believe that if you are purchasing a stone of that quality, you can shop more on price and less on how it looks, because all stones of that quality are going to look amazing.

It was delivered by USPS overnight and required a signature. The ring was shipped in a regular padded envelop. Inside was a nice ring box with a ribbon tied around it, very pretty.

I have not yet had the ring independently appraised, but from shopping the retail stores in my area, I know that the ring would have cost 2 to 2.5 times as much in a local retail store.
