Unfortunately the dog walked out of the host's yard when a friend stopped by and left the gate open and was found less than a block away(The house where the pet was staying sits in the middle of the yard/lot and is completely surrounded by a
fence, so to get into the house you have to go through a gate.) The individual who found the dog called the owner vs calling the number on our special tagOnce I got the call I found out where the pet was and went and picked up the pet and took her home according to owner's instructionsThe client said she had to make other arrangements for dog and it would take some timeI told her I would go get pet then and bring to her home in about hoursShe said that was totally unacceptable so I told her I would be there in minutes and she stated that was be goodI got the pet home in exactly minutes and had to wait another for someone to accept herI did my best to meet the expectations of the owner even though I was being yelled atThe pet was not hurt or injured and happy to jump into my van
After checking with the host I found out about the friend stopping over and leaving the gate openI could not figure out how the dog got out except maybe jumping the fence and I told the client thatI emailed her this morning with what happened and apologized for the mishapI'm not making excuses, but rather being truthful
The owner was never charged for this reservation and a refund for the deposit for October has already been sent
Yes, on another reservation the owner complained about the pet coming home smelling like smoke(Hosts are NOT to smoke around the pet)She mentioned that a family member had COPD and could not tolerate smokeI apologized and I told her that the pet would never be put in a home smoking home again and the pet was never placed in another smoking homeWe have cared for the pet times since she gave us that restriction
We care for over pets each year and a pet going AWOL for any amount of time is rare
