The business has responded.  Please see below:
Dear Sir or Madam: We are in receipt of your rather disturbing letter of * May 2015. In response, please take note of the...

following. First of all, please be sure that [redacted]'s attempted extortion will not work. After 34 years in business--with a spotless Revdex.com report--we will simply not be put into a position where we are forced to make an arbitrary and grossly inflated pay-off that [redacted] has conjured, without basis. If an advocacy agrees to help us, we pay a standard $25 referral fee for each person invited to participate. [redacted] referred one person to us. Despite this, we were inclined to make to [redacted]’s advocacy a donation in the amount of $100. Please bear in mind that no specific amount was ever discussed, and no promises were made as to the date that such a donation would be tendered. Ninety days is not unusual in our industry, for accounts to be settled. There are numerous billing channels that must be navigated. Further, the study with which [redacted] apparently agreed to help, only ended in early April, so, frankly, it has been less than a month. But, [redacted] has been nothing short of a pest, badgering us on a weekly basis, despite being told on three separate occasions that she will receive her donation/referral fee as soon as we receive payment from our client–a huge pharmaceutical company. As we have seen, [redacted] does not exhibit patience as her strong suite, and we have grown tired of her threats and drama. While [redacted]'s advocacy is, no doubt, noble, her impatience has cost us hours of clerical time, and now, the need to write a formal letter to the Revdex.com. We suggest that [redacted]’s constituents would benefit from an advocate who was more in tune with the way things work in the real world. Honoraria, payments, incentives, all take time to process. Now, as I mentioned, we were inclined to send to [redacted] a donation in the amount of $100, despite the fact that her efforts contributed to only one respondent in a sample of 45, but when we deduct the time for clerical expenses, such as responding to a dozen emails and telephone calls, and a frivolous Revdex.com complaint, we will, after all, only donate to her organization the $25 referral fee we initially intended. It seems that [redacted] errantly believes that she has landed a big fish. In fact, we are a small company dependent upon cash flow from large multinational companies. For more than three decades, we have worked closely, and in harmony with, the medical community. On a daily basis, we work intimately and personally with our neighbors–Americans who cope with a broad range of medical issues. We tread carefully, successfully negotiating HIPAA and ACA regulations and restrictions, and have NEVER run afoul of any of the rules of the trade. We are long-standing members of the [redacted] and the [redacted], and we operate in strict adherence to the tenets of our industry. We will not be threatened with extortion by some kitchen-table advocate with too much time on her hands. Further, it is our intention to file a complaint at [redacted]’s local Revdex.com office, and submit her advocacy for review by the appropriate government regulators.

Review: On February *, 2015, they sent an email to me, stating, "I have a client who would like to conduct non-clinical research with people who are temporary [redacted].Participation would involve a one-hour telephone interview and a one-hour journaling exercise over the course of four weeks. We are pleased to offer an honorarium of $200, as a thank-you for their time. We would also like to make a donation to your group, in appreciation of any help you can offer in the way of getting out the word about this important study.I can be reached anytime, at ###-###-####.Thank you for taking the time to consider this."We posted information on our site. At least one of our members applied to be a part of their study.Desired Settlement: I believe a settlement of $200.00 would be a fair amount to compensate for the advertising on our site, and the time and efforts to collect.
