Phelps' Chevrolet Inc Reviews (1)

While our car was in the shop for a stalling issue & oil change, the tech broke the turn signal switch and then tried to claim that it was like that.On August 6, 2014 our [redacted] was taken in by my husband for servicing due to experiencing some hesitation and stuttering. We had decided to get an oil change while it was there. When my husband picked me up from work he informed me that when he picked up the vehicle neither the turn signals nor brake lights were working and the switch was just barely hanging on. Since he both takes me and picks me up from work I know that they were working that morning because I heard the "clicking" when we had to wait to make the left-hand turn into the parking lot that morning. He told me that he went back in immediately and reported that they weren't working, but [redacted] claimed that the technician told him that they weren't working when he got into the vehicle. This is not substantiated by the invoice which states "Tech stated that there is another piece of tubing that needs to be replaced in the near future. No other problems were found at this time." I would think that letting a customer leave with no working turn signals and only the emergency center break light would be a problem to document. This is all the more strange, because neither the shuttle driver nor [redacted] ever mentioned the issue until my husband noticed before he left your parking lot and went back in. Since I'm short and always keep the visor down I noticed when I climbed in the front passenger seat that the visor had been pushed back up and that the seat had been pulled up. I just couldn't figure out why someone would be in the passenger seat until we went to check the fuses. We soon discovered that the fuse box is around the corner from the glove box so if I was a technician trying to cover my mistake I would have had to have flipped up the visor and slid the seat up to examine the fuse box as well. I don't get out of work until 5:30 so when I called that evening I had to leave a message for the manager on duty to call me back. [redacted] in your sales department promptly called me and informed me that he would have to forward my complaint to the appropriate department and that [redacted] would call my husband back the next day. He understood that I was frustrated and wanted to get this issues reported ASAP. Unfortunately [redacted] was unable to make the situation any better. He actually had the audacity to tell my husband that due to the age of the vehicle that this would have happened eventually. Maybe if he was interested he would have asked fact finding questions and found out that it was just replaced 3 years ago. It's rare that I go anywhere in Greenville without seeing another [redacted] the same year as ours on the road so I would think that would be a testament to [redacted] quality, but it sounds like they offend your service manager. This is so unnecessary because we are all human, if someone had simply said that we don't know exactly when happened, but the turn signal handle got broken during the test drive, something could have been worked out. Now that we have been insulted, called liars, and been lied to, we still had to pay $369.40 in repairs to another facility because Phelps Chevrolet failed to fix what their tech broke. Their technician made a mistake and tried to cover it up. We submitted our own signed statements, repair receipts showing that the turn signals and brake lights were working, and a signed statement from a co-worker substantiating that the turn signals and brake lights had worked prior to service, yet [redacted] still insists that they were not at fault. We gave them the opportunity to make this right and were made to feel like 2nd class citizens. We obviously haven't been treated special, I know that we can't be the only ones. Desired SettlementAt least the $369.40 that we had to pay to repair what their tech broke and a formal apology in writing.
