Every 3 months PGW comes out and digs up the same hole on the corner of Morris & Stafford. Please take your noise pollution somewhere else and leave us alone.

Checking appliances and gas meter
I received a voicemail and mail notice that PGW needs to check my meter and all my gas appliances. This seems to be a fraud to get me to buy their insurance or to tell me that I need new appliances which they'll be glad to sell me. PGW should not be allowed to sell insurance or appliances because the are a public utility. This leaves their customer's open to a fraudulent attempt to sell them something or shut off their gas.

First let me say that I have been a customer of PGW for 47 years. Only had one misunderstanding in all that time. However, I facing what may be harassment. But I digress. Back in April 29, I noticed that my payment to the gas company was not credited on the current bill. Spoke to woman( they only give first names) who told me that it was documented as rejection of payment, although my bank statements indicated funds were received through my account. After much discussion she indication the rejection of payment would be removed and payment was already credited. On June 17, 2019, I paid another payment to the gas company. I checked my bank account and saw it was received so I left it at that. However, in making a payment today, I thought I would check my payment history and noticed that for the June 17th payment it also said rejected payment. Again, the payment cleared on my account. This can have a negative affect on my credit accountability, and beings that I already spoke to someone about this, I plan togo to PUC commission to file official complaint. The games these people play is uncalled for.

The Philadelphia gas company is one of the worst utility companies in Philadelphia. They turned my service off 2 times in a 3 day period. It was their error and they tried to charge me 123.50 each time to have service restored. Then a supervisor and technician came out to the property next door to turn service on and let too much gas out into my house, so they come over to check my house for the smell of gas and they did something to my meter and my hot water doesn't get hot anymore. I called them to explain the situation and they told me they wouldn't come back out to my property to fix the problem that they caused. The supervisor who called back was very rude , unprofessional, and she act like it was a personal call. She was arguing with me back and forth. They are the nastiest people. They need a class in customer service, and there technicians, and supervisors need to be retrained.

All right on! Worst company for service complaints and customer service as a whole. Reps pass the buck re accountability for their errors and don't call back when they say they will. Reps are uninformed and no two are on same page.

I have to agree about the customer service training, although I have had a couple of decent representatives, some were not rude but not well informed or helpful.

Thank You PGW Hard Working Professionals:
We are 'Happy PGW Customers'! Thrilled with Employees: "WILL" (so sad, didn't get Will's surname) The Hard working Crew who followed: "WHITNEY S[redacted]" "ERICA S[redacted]" & "DORRANCE A[redacted] 3 Professional, dedicated, SAFETY CONCIOUS PGW employees. We want to COMMEND & THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! This morning called PGW when odor of gas was smelled outside our homes. Called-in to PGW. Advised it'll be an hour when "WILL", 1st on the scene, was at my door in less than 40 mins. He checked my home inside & outside and even contacted my nearby neighbors too, to insure their safety. In LESS THAN 1 hour, these 3 HARD WORKING, thoroughly professionals were on the job, out front jack hammering down 3 feet on our walkways to REPAIR a gas leak. Then by 4 pm just 5 hrs later this major job was almost done & to perfection. We, my hubby, my dog & my neighbors want to PROFUSELY THANK & COMMEND THEM. They worked so much, in sweltering heat >95 degree temp & just kept working until the job was completed. All 4 PGW workers are GLOWING REPRESENTATIVES who deserve far more than a pat on the back; if I could, I give them Gold Medals for doing an Olympian sized job in such a superb way I would! THANK YOU Will, Whitney, Erica & Dorrance; if all Philly & American workers had your dedication, our city & country would never worry about their safety and NEVER be concerned the just work was left unfinished OR untidy. My home inside & out was left in pristine condition. THANKS to PGW FOR EMPLOYING SUCH HARD WORKING, THOROUGH, CARING & CONSIDERATE FOLKS! Dee H[redacted]-East Falls

I have an outlandish bill. I asked to be put on a budget and after sending my information over to PGW. I was put on a budget that I still could not afford. My gas has been off since May I ended up moving out so that my children and their father can get the gas on in his name but they won't even help him. I have tried LIHEAP/ CRISIS AND UESF and no one would help.Desired Settlement: I would like for PGW to take another look and work with us.

I went to PGW cause they told me they will shut-off my gas service. They could not give me details about it but I paid 268$ and apply for a payment plan so they will not shut off my gas.

the remaining is 369.57$ and I cannot pay this non understandable amount even with a payment plan. I am an international student an I have to pay my tuition for the fall starting next month. I cannot pay bills PGW is falling to explainDesired Settlement: cancellation of the remaining balance 369.57$

Review: I have been a PGW customer for a little over 2 years now and have never been more dissatisfied with their service than I am now! I have always paid my bills and communicated with them regarding any issues I may have had with their services or billing. For about 2 months, I have not received any correspondence with PGW. No bills were sent to my home and there was no communication electronically either. On June 23 of 2014 I paid $200 to PGW. I believed that my account was in good standing and proceeded to make a payment to PGW on 7/23/14. I arrived home that day to find a shut off letter in my mailbox and that my gas had been turned off. I did not receive any shut off notices prior to 7/23/14. The shut off notice advised that I needed to make a payment of $262 to have my services restored within 24 hours. I immediately called PGW the next business morning only to be given another amount to pay. I was told I need to pay almost $700 to have my services restored and that I would have to wait 72 hours. The notice that PGW gave me did not state that I needed to pay $700 or wait 72 hours. I informed them that I could only make a partial payment and proceeded to give them my account information and they told me that it was '$700 period! Me having a child in the home, I asked them for the sake of the child could something be worked out? PGW basically told me that it is not child endangerment not to have Gas in the home and that they do not make the rules, The Public Utility Commission does and I need to follow up with them. After they stole my $700 and told me I had to wait 72 hours to restore services, I was completely mortified with the service I have received from them. I filled a complaint the same day with The Public Utility Commission and have yet to hear from them! PGW does not care for their customers and unfortunately is the only gas supplier I am able to have because I rent my home. I am completely dissatisfied with the service I have received! There has yet to be any communication form The Public Utility Commission regarding this issue and I have yet to receive any updated bills from PGW. I am mortified from this experience. Not only was I forced to pay $700 for a gas bill, but I cannot afford my rent this month or other bills! I live pay check to pay check just like everyone else! PGW representatives are rude, nonchalant and have no empathy for the customers they claim they "value"! I expect a full $700 credit to my PGW account immediately! I expect the public Utility Commission to follow up accordingly and I expect my bills to be sent to my home on time, every month! Anything less will not be tolerated!Desired Settlement: I expect a full $700 credit to my PGW account immediately! I expect the public Utility Commission to follow up accordingly and I expect my bills to be sent to my home on time, every month! Anything less will not be tolerated!

Review: On July 29, 2014 at approximately 1:25pm I called the main number ###-###-#### to disconnect service. After waiting 18 minutes on hold, I was connected to a man who identified himself as Keith K[redacted]. He was extremely rude and condescending in the manner in which he spoke to me. I was not able to get an appointment prior to August 1st to disconnect service because he stated I needed to be there, yet, when service was turned on I DID NOT need to be there because the meters are located outside. He then rudely informed me notices were sent where a new meter needed to be installed. Those notices never came to me, but rather probably went to the landlord because the same thing happened with [redacted]. After being subjected to more rudeness, I requested to speak with someone else, to which he said who would you speak to, and I said THE SUPERVISOR. He then identified himself as the supervisor and refused to transfer me to someone else stating no one else was above him. I do not believe that no one else is above him! This type of service is unacceptable, especially when it was time to turn the service on, I did not need to be present, yet to have services disconnected, it presents an issue. I no longer live in the unit and had no problems disconnecting with [redacted], therefore, either someone else may occupy the unit OR I will have to wait outside for FOUR HOURS to get this done.Desired Settlement: I need my service disconnected ASAP and I would like an apology from Keith K[redacted] as well as training on how proper customer service.

Review: This company is not honest in their dealings. I have just purchase a property in Philadelphia. The property passed home inspection. There were some issues with GAS and they had to come out to verify the issue. They would found an issue each time they came. Most of the issues have been resolved. They were supposed to install a new meter and that's been taking forever. The meter install was scheduled for Wednesday October 16, 2013 12-4PM, but they failed to show up. I called the rep responsible for the account around 3PM and said that they are still scheduled to show up. I called their other support number and I was told that they work up 12AM and may still see someone. I called the rep on October 17, and he stated that someone did come and there was no one there. I was at the premise all day, and no one showed up. If they did come, they would have at least give me a call. I am tired of the aggravation and dealings with this company.Desired Settlement: They need to get this work done and re-imburse me for the day that I took off from work for this.

Review: My name is [redacted]. I am a PA Certified English teacher who has been employed as a teacher in the [redacted] of Philadelphia for the past seven years. I am a single mother, who is caring for my own son as well as another child and his father, who who would have been homeless had I not taken them in. I make 59,000 a year. I am by no means rich, nor do I receive any government assistance or benefits. On paper, that may seem like a decent wage. Because of this, and two broken payment agreements, Philadelphia Gas Works will not assist me. They said I do not qualify for any assistance because of my income and the previous two arrangements. What PGW fails to take into consideration is that I pay a mortgage and when I am worried about foreclosure on my home, I did miss a payment. I was appalled to find that my service was immediately terminated. I was given no forewarning. I returned home after a challenging day at the Title 1 High [redacted] I work at to find a home with no gas service. We rely on gas for our oven and heat. This was September 2014. I have been in contact with PGW on and off until January 8, 2015. I have been told my service cannot be restored until I pay the full balance plus turn-on fee. This would roughly be $1900. This amount of money is extremely high and I cannot pay it. I pleaded with PGW, contacted the PUC, and no one will help me. I find it disgraceful that if I was unemployed or worked part-time, their company would help me. Because I am employed, I am being punished. These past few months have been positively unbearable. The day of the extreme cold last week, 1/8/2015, I called PGW again. They still would not help me until balance was paid in full. I cannot use my oven, or most importantly provide heat for my family. PGW will not turn your service off during these months, but they can't negotiate with me to turn it back on? We are literally huddled around a tiny space heater every night & the situation will only get worse as the months go on. I am begging for some assistance to heat my home. What these big companies fail to recognize is that the working person is suffering, too. I am a single mom, a city employee, a teacher-yet no one will help me. I am begging for assistance.Desired Settlement: I am begging PGW to please help me with this situation and give me another payment plan-if even only during the winter months. I need to heat my home.

Review: My account PGW (Piladelphia Gas Works)# is [redacted] , and my problem began when on September 11,2014, I submitted that as of Oct. 1,2014 I would be surrendering the keys back to the [redacted]or the property [redacted], Pa [redacted], due to the fact I was relocating to [redacted], Pa as of October 1, 2014. I recently recieved a bill stating the bill period Sept. 09,2014 thru Oct. 08,2014. When I spoke to a PGW representative she stated there's no record of a move out so I will be charged up until the day which I called, Oct. 21,2014. How can I be held responsibile for a bill that I was not on site to utilize? Then she also stated as being a PGW customer I will recieve a $12 service charge since my call was recieved after the billing date was issued....that's 20 days that I'm being cahrged and I was not on the property of [redacted]! THe website directs the customer to utilize that source and it's faster and easier, but it's confusing because after speaking with Jennifer @ 1640hrs, she informed me that it doesnt acknowledge or move out request & shut off! and then it charges you for 2 properties usage. I'm on a limited income & I cannot pay for something I'm not responsible for. I pay my bills on time for over 20 years, never had a problem like this before, and this is not my first move.Desired Settlement: To have the excess 20 days of charge removed from the PGW billing statement

Review: We have requested gas service around a year ago. Pgw gas company unwilling to connect service. Many appointments later no service. Gas meter installed. Crew after crew unable to connect gas service.its another winter and all we get is excuses and promises. Please help us get gas serviceDesired Settlement: Please connect gas service

Review: Pgw disconnected my gas line with no notice and no warning phone call or letter. The tenant prior to me never cancelled his or her account, I was never made aware of the fact that I was supposed to create an account, and when they turned off my gas without warning, they forced me to pay an exorbitant reconnection fee as if I had defaulted on my gas payment. However, the truth is that they failed to send me any kind of communication whatsoever about starting an account with the gas company. After I sent many emails to representatives with my complaint, they ignored my request. When I explained it to a representative in person, she was incredibly rude to me.Desired Settlement: I would like for them to refund the reconnection fee they charged me and for them to send a written apology.

Review: The gas meter in my home wasn't functioning correctly for two years and I was under billed from 4/17/09 to 9/11/12. In October of 2012 PGW hit me with a bill for $1151.03 bill and **. [redacted] sent me a letter indicating that I can arrange a payment "agreement that will cover at least the same number of months that you were under billed. We will not assess late payment charges on the balance as long as you keep the payment agreement we establish." To me, a regular payment agreement means that a specific dollar amount is paid off within a certain amount of months. I'm a single man with no kids and I don't use a lot of gas a month. The most I've used would be $150.00 to $200.00 a month, but that's in the winter months when it's cold outside and I have the heat on. The letter I received indicates that PGW will give me 40 months (the same amount of time I was under billed) to pay off the $1151.03. 12 months into the payment agreement I only have $652.10 left. It doesn't seem that the agreement **. [redacted] indicated I would have is being substantiated and that PGW is forcing me to liquidate my balance sooner than the 40 months. Granted, paying off a bill sooner rather than later is a blessing but it's a hardship for me when I receive bills during the summer in the amount of $250.00 to as recent as $375.00, where I know I didn't use that much gas and they're expecting me to pay.

My question to PGW is; How are they estimating my monthly charges and not billing me for the amount I used during that month as well as the additional dollars I owe for the gas meter not functioning correctly? It just seems that some random number is thrown at me and they're making me pay whatever they see fit. The last person I spoke with "[redacted]" indicated that my request to have my monthly bill reduced was forwarded to the dispute unit and they will notify me within 30 days. I hate to say, my bill is due before then and PGW instructed me to "just pay it!"Desired Settlement: My desired outcome is that I pay for the gas I legitimately use on a monthly basis in addition to the balance I owe, spread out for remainder of the months **. [redacted] indicated I would have to pay off the outstanding balance.

Review: This is a problem that has been ongoing since the end of October 2012, I have kept all bills and correspondences and can produce them at any time if needed. At the end of October my gas bill was estimated by PGW, I received the bill within the first 2 weeks of November 2012, it was for $84.87 however I had not turned my gas on yet and this estimation was higher than January 2012 when the heat was on all month. I called PGW and spoke with one of their employees who said they would NOT send anyone out to my apartment to read the meter and that if I wanted the bill adjusted I would have go and read it myself. At this point I should note that my building has all the meters in once place, approximately 20 meters. I have no experience reading meters, and the employee gave me no instructions further than "Just go look at the number." I found what I believed to be my meter and told them the number, they adjusted the bill (it was now 11/19/2012). At this point in time I was given no explanation as to why the bill was estimated, and was led to believe it was an isolated occurrence. The next bill I received was dated 1/3/2013 in the amount of $275.97, and covered from 11/19/2012 till 1/2/2013, again this was an estimation and was over 4 times the amount of gas utilized the previous January. Once again I called, this time I refused to go read the meter seeing as I pay fees for the service PGW is supposed to provide. The employee told me my options were to pay the bill or go read the meter myself, and that they once again refused to send anyone out. At this point she also informed me that the estimation were "probably due to the battery in the meter being dead," and that they were allowed to estimate up to 3 bills before they had to do anything about it. The bill was adjusted (on 1/25/13), and I paid it before the due date. Just last week I received my third estimated bill for $202.43 dated 3/5/2013, it covered from 1/25/2013 through 3/1/2013, and was once again a gross over-estimation (over 3x the amount of gas utilized the previous January). I called PGW once again, their employee immediately asked why I had not scheduled a meter exchange, I replied that the previous PGW employees I had spoken to refused to send anyone out fix the problem. She said she could not take down the reading I had gotten from my meter, and that nothing could be done to the bill till the exchange occurred. She scheduled the exchange for 3/22/2013 between 4-8pm. No one actually came to my door, so I cannot even be certain the exchange took place. So currently I have a exorbitant bill due in the next 5 days, and I will not be able to contact PGW until their office opens on Monday.

In addition to the billing issues, I just received a gas shut off notice, dated 3/19/2013. The gas is set to be shut off on 4/1/2013 according to the letter, and the reason is "because you have not provided access to the meter." This is baffling to me seeing as I've spent the past 5 months attempting to have someone come look at the meter to no avail. Also since they finally scheduled someone to come exchange the meter and I'm not even positive it occurred, I have little faith that they will send anyone out to my apartment before the shut off date. In addition if the gas is shut off there are numerous fees I would have to pay in order to have it turned back on.Desired Settlement: At the very least I would like this bill fixed and the deadline extended so that I may pay it without incurring at late fees. In addition I would like the meter fixed, and the notice of gas shut off rescinded. If I'm to be blunt, this is absolutely ridiculous, and I have never had such an awful experience with a utility company, or any company for that matter, in my life. Their employees were rude and unhelpful, their billing practices are ludicrous and they display a blatant lack of organization made worse by their inability to communicate within their own company. If there were another available gas company I would switch in a moments notice, unfortunately there's not, and I fear this type of situation is bound to repeat itself.
