I just want buyers to beware of Joe Forte. He has changed his business from Philadelphia Kitchen and Tile Inc to Forte Home Remodeling. His words is not his bond!

Review: On May 22, 2014, I formed a written agreement between the owner of Philadelphia Kitchen & Tile, Joe F[redacted], for a complete kitchen renovation. The renovations were to begin on July 14, 2014 and were to be completed on August 29, 2014. The total cost for the targeted 5 week renovation was calculated at $15,000 (USD). The workers of the company came of the scheduled date ( July 14) and began steady work at a fast pace; 3 weeks into work and they had finish one-third of the work. Pleased with their work, I had asked for an additional service for a professional paint job. the cost was $1850 to paint the complete downstairs and the hallway. The owner agreed, but instead of hiring a professional paint company, he allowed his son, who is not a professional painter nor a contractor, to do the job. I was highly unsatisfied with the end results and demanded that Mr. F[redacted] hire a professional to fix what his son had started. However, several weeks had gone by before anyone had returned to complete the work; the completed paint job and the kitchen itself.

I had gone to the store to express my concerns and I was verbally informed that the workers would be by the next day. All the while, I had continued to pay for the company's services. Another week had passed before someone from the company came to my home and still my kitchen has not been completed. Mr. F[redacted] has made numerous unreasonable excuses and has delayed the process of completing a job which I had paid in full as of August, 2014. A five week project has turned into four months and it is still uncompleted. Lights have not been installed that have been paid for, the water line for the refrigerator had been replaced from a cooper line, that I had originally owned, to a cheaper plastic version. Vents in the kitchen are uncovered. Gaps between the back splash and kitchen counter are clearly visible. The countertops are not sanded and polished and the electrical box for the lights are exposed.

All of these issues are small jobs that could be completed within days, which causes my frustration as it is four months later and I am still without a kitchen. Not only has Mr. F[redacted] made more excuses than any customer would like to hear or tolerate, but I have come to find out that he has an unfavorable habit of cutting corners and using cheaper versions of necessary appliances (i.e, the water line, kitchen cabinets, recession lights) in order to save money. I paid well over the initial price for quality products and service and I expected to receive that.Desired Settlement: As I stated before, it has been over four months and I still do not have a kitchen. I should not have to go to the store front once a week to see progress. And when someone from the company does show up, they only come for one day and no one returns the next day with no explanation. I have paid in full for his services. There should be absolutely no reason as to why my kitchen has remained in the same condition as it has been since August.

Not only do I want Mr. F[redacted] to finish my kitchen, but I would like a refund of $1850 for the paint job. He verbally made an agreement with me that he would contract a professional paint company to finish my paint job and as of today, that has not been the case. He has breached the contractual agreement between us and I demand the professional service that I paid for.
