Philip Morris Construction Reviews (1)

This company did a walk thru of my job site (home) and explain every step of the job he was doing for me, He gave me a estimate of what the he was going to do with the prices of the job. But once the job started he begin to change the description of what he told me he was going to do. It took him a long time to do the job because he pulled people off my job and placed the on other jobs in my area. end result when I ask him about what was going on with what he tolded me he was going to do and what he actually had done he said he never told me he was going to do that or he didn't remember that. this company does not stand behind what he tells you and lie about it, Can not be trusted"""Desired Settlementrefund on the items hot completed but still paid for it ( warping all wood in vinyl siding)Business Response The claims against me about lying are false!I completed the scope of work that the customer agreed on and paid me for the details of the contract were completed as described. I tried tirelessly to explain to the customer that the work was completed as outlined in the contract but he continuously interrupted me and would not let me explain and personally attacked me verbally for reason he would not explainHis claims for "wrapping all wood in vinyl siding" are not valid as the siding on the house is Hardie board ( which is a concrete product) and the only wood on the exterior of the house outside the boxing and fascia was the out side corners, which he acknowledged and understood that they where wood and that any of these areas that were rotten would be replaced, primed and painted to match. So if I was to go to these measures then why would they be removed again to be replaced with a vinyl product, a product that would not of worked with his current siding as this would involve replacing all the hardie siding which is something that was never discussed or needed. That contract clearly stated the scope of work and here it is " Paint the exterior of the house to match existing colors on both the siding and the trim ( trim being corners, windows, doors and fascia etc)So here it clearly states that the corners will be painted. There was an additional scope on the contract as an option that he chose to include which reads "To instal vinyl on the boxing and trim coil on the fascia please add $1600"No where on the contract does it state that there would be any vinyl or trim coil or anything installed on, over or in place of the original cornerseverything was completed as described in the contract. I even had the garage door painted that was never highlighted in the contract either way so I had that done as a good faith gesture The gutters were never mentioned at any point but he insisted on making us paint them because he said that I didnt include or exclude it so how was he to know if it was included or notI even replaced the sliding screen door on the rear patio doors as the original was still there and was very rusty and the screen was all torn and in bad shape and he insisted that it get painted as I included doors on the contract I tried to explain that it could not be painted to to its condition and age so to please him I had to replace it. I had to drive to three different home improvement stores in 3 different towns to find a door that would work. The customer had a heated conversation that I apologized for on many occasions with my paint contractor there to bear witness. At this time the customer and I had walked the property to which we generated and agreed punch list to which was completed in full, which he then continued to add more and more things the following day to which I completed and even involved me purchasing a new security spot light and installing it as yet another gesture of good faith. The entire time that the painters were completing the punch list he was talking bad about me to them and I never responded or said anything back to himI feel that I went above and beyond the call of duty to satisfy him to which he told me that if we complete all these issues then we are good and he will be happy to which he shook my hand and wrote me the final payment of $4950.00 as indication that he was satisfied During this process he told me that he suffers with short term memory issues during a general conversation, along with the fact the he is a good listener but there was several times that he said I changed what I originally told him. I cant help but feel that we are here as part of his own issues but I don't know for sure The customer was a really nice guy and pleasant to to talk to and all of my workers and the paint contractor were gob smacked by his actions at the endThere was never a time line discussed as to completion however we did have about a week or so that the weather played a crucial part in the delays as its very difficult to provide a good paint job with the threat of rain.We also ran into a few issues with wrapping the fascia boards in trim coil which also took a little bit of extra timeI was accused of many things and attacked personally which is something that I would never nor have I done I treat everybody the same as I am very humble and honest, I run a very honest and trustworthy business for which I am very blessed to say that we stay extremely busy especially this time of the year.I feel that I did all I could do for this customer and not sure what else he was looking for. He mentioned that he wants a refund for materials that where not used but the truth is that the job was completed as outlined in the contract and all the materials that where figured for the job was used in actual fact I had to buy 3 additional rolls of trim coil that I under figured on because it took so much metal to wrap all the fascia and freeze molding never at any point did I inform him that the corners would be wrapped it clearly states in the contract that they would be replaced as needed, primed, caulked and painted.I am truly sorry that he feels this way about my company and me but there was no pleasing him no matter what I said or done for him. This was a large two story house that required an extremely large amount of work to complete the scope which we did and it looks amazing. he even said himself that it looks great, stands out and pops really good, is the best looking house on the street ( which it is ) If I had to do the job over I would complete it in the exact same manner as to the contract with with the same manner of professionalism as I do with all my customer. There was just no please this man but I tried my best and he even said that I could leave my company yard sign in his yard I asked if hr would like for me to remove it and he said " no you can leave there if you wont to it doesn't bother me " Consumer Response Like I said before his story keeps changing he is saying what he needs to say to keep himself looking good the story he gave you is not true. what he did not tell you is my wife was present when I gave him the deposit and he explain what he would be doing rehabbing my home.Final Business Response I am unsure what it is he is wanting at this pointI have completed everything as described in the contract, he is asking for something that was not included in the contract and the reason it was not included is because it is not possible to replace the corners with vinyl as there is not a vinyl product available that I am aware of to achieve this. Please read the attached copy of the contract in its entirety minus the customers information so it can be seen and understood that I completed everything that was on the contract"Description of Work: Exterior painting and wood repair (Rehab)Scope of work: Exterior Rehab1. Remove and replace all necessary rotten wood as needed to include but not limited to Corner boards, window trim and fascia material2. Prime all newly replaced wood and caulk 3. Caulk exterior as needed ready for new paint 4. Paint entire exterior of house to match existing colors on both the siding and the trim ( trim being corners, windows, doors, and fascia etc )Total cost of this estimate to include all labor and materials$7850.00To install vinyl on the boxing and trim coil on the fascia please add $1600.00Draw schedule to be as follows 1st draw due at contract signing 50% of total Balance due upon completion This quote is good for 30 days from the above date "#4 of the above contract clearly states that the trim being the corners will be painted and not wrapped in vinylThe addition to the contract for $1600 clearly states that the boxing will be in vinyl and trim coil on the fascia. At no point was there any mention of replacing the corners in vinyl #1 of the contract also states that the rotten wood on the corners are to be replaced, now if there was any intention of these items being replace or wrapped in vinyl why would it state that they are to be replaced, caulked, primed and painted. There were no unused materials to refund against I actually had to buy extra trim coil on top of what was estimated (which was an over sight on my behalf so I ate the cost, at no point did I ask the customer for additional money)I tried to describe to the customer why the vinyl corner would not work but he just kept interrupting me and saying that I was just trying to cover up all the lies with fast talking, he did not give me a chance to explain why I would never of advised of a product that I was going to install due to it never working or looking good. The entire house is wrapped in a concrete siding that will require a certain level of maintenance over time which consists of caulking and painting every so many years which is another reason (that was not allowed to explain) as to why these particular items where to be left as painted areas. The customer was to occupied hurtling a barrage or personal verbal abuse at me that he would not give me the opportunity to explain anything to him.I have called my local supply house where all of the materials came from and they advised me that the corners are $12 each (inc tax) and if he is so adamant that he wants a "refund for materials not used" although there was no materials to be used and I spent more than the contracted amount in having the garage door and gutters painted as well as replacing the sliding screen door and a security light then I am willing to offer a refund in the amount of $150 as a good will gesture as I am not the kind of business man that is being portrayed of me.
