I contracted with this company after being referred to them by the skilled nursing facility where my Mom was residingI desired to move her closer to myself, and was referred to this companyMy Mom arrived at her new community flushed and so hot to the touch the nurses thought she was running a fever and that she would need an IV or have to be sent to the hospital; she was dazed, dehydrated, thirsty, hunger, and soaked in sweat and urineThe nurses said she appeared to have been transported without any air conditioning - the trip was a hrtrip and the heat index that day was over degreesI was told by one of the nurses that had my Mom remained in that hot vehicle another minutes, she would have had a heat strokeThe doctor was at the SNF when she arrived and he instructed the nurses to force fluids on her to revive herThe driver transporting her stated she did not know Mom's name and had no information on her according to the nurses who were on the floor when Mom was brought into the facilityI found out later that the driver was given the "patient profile", so she should have known her name at least! Also, according to the nurse on duty that day, the driver requested a bottle of water for herself stating she was thirsty and wanted to know where the nearest Western Union was located, probably so she could collect her pay! When I arrived there the nurse on the floor told me she had never in years since she had been there seen a resident brought into the facility in such terrible conditionAt the time I contracted with this company to transport my Mom I was told all the staff they used were certified care givers, but the care given fell well below any acceptable standard of care, let alone standard of decencyMy call to the company during the weekend resulted in my leaving a message so I called back on Monday and spoke to the person with whom I contacted to arrange the transportShe spoke to the driver and called me to state the driver had run her air conditioner during the trip and had no idea what we were referred to - in essence calling the nurses, and I guess the doctor who was on the floor when Mom was brought in, liars; however, there is no way a pound woman sweated so much she was dehydrated and drenched in sweat if the air was in fact being used
