Phillips Used Auto Sales

[redacted] came in to my shop on the 13th of june and looked at my monte carlo ls .he offered money down and said no , I told him the car just came off the auction lot and was not checked out yet(we check out all vehicles before we sell them and have for years here at phillips auto sales) he told me he was a mechanic (?) [redacted] came to my lot last year and looked at another car but did not buy because he did not have the money , he had a job at o rielly auto parts where we talked many times about cars on my lot [redacted] came back we checked all fluids ,we took the car out for a test drive (about miles) we decided the car needed front brakes ,other than that the car great [redacted] put down on the car and we worked out payments [redacted] picked up the car the next dayhe drove the car around town all day and came back late to pickup his other car that he had left on my lotnext day he called me and said the car was blown up in Middletown he said he put mile on the car .( he put miles on in less than hours).I asked him if he could get the car to my lot ,he said yeswith the car on my lot we talked about fixing the car with a used engine if he paid his payments on timehe lost his job on the 6th of june, after checking and did not tell me that before he bought the car (no job) [redacted] (mother) came and said [redacted] was not mentally able to make his own decisions at years old (he was ok behind the counter at o rielly auto parts) [redacted] said I took advantage of [redacted] and wanted all back and leave me with a junk carno payment/no car/no moneyif he pays payment on time we will work with himthank you [redacted] [redacted] *** p.sas is= as is on paper p.s.s I will sell you a car that needs work if you ask and have someone to fix it or pay me to fix it

Phillips has not offered any reasonable resolution They have said the car was fine except for brakes when the sold it yet the motor blew up within the next day Even though something is as is there is an expectation it is not in need of extraordinary repair if the salesman states it only needs something minkr such as brakes I realize phillips may have not been able to recognize the motor issue, but surfacing one day later they should recognize they sold a junk car and make it good If they were a regular consumer and fhey bought a car that blew up the very next day, would they feele ripped off if the seller did not want to refund? I do not undersstand how phillips verified ***''s ability to make payments He wwas being evicfed for lack of rent payment, has multip,e other bil,ls, and no steady income Any reasonabke attempt to verify his ability to pay would have included verification of income and debts Not doing so sets people up for over-extending their ability to pay the bill ongoing and results in repocession As it stands, this.tactic worked in favor of Phillips....essentially, they rented a car to my son for day for $and got back a car they would have had to repair anyway before selling to anyone else As a good corporate citizen, I would expect phillips to make fhis good with refund of the down payment There has not been an such offer at this point for resolution

[redacted] put 519.00 down on the car and we worked out payments . [redacted] picked up the car the next day. he drove the car around town all day and came back late to pickup his other car that he had left on my lot. next day he called me and said the car was blown up in Middletown . he said he put  50 mile on the car .( he put 337 miles on in less than 24 hours).I asked him if he could get the car to my lot ,he said yes. with the car on my lot we talked about fixing the car with a used engine if he paid his payments on time. he lost his job on the 6th of june, after checking and did not tell me that before he bought the car (no job) [redacted] (mother) came and said [redacted] was not mentally able to make his own decisions at 19 years old (he was ok behind the counter at o rielly auto parts)[redacted] said I took advantage of [redacted] and wanted all 519.00 back and leave me with a junk car. no payment/no car/no money. if he pays payment on time we will work with him. thank you [redacted]   p.s. as is= as is on paper.    p.s.s I will sell you a car that needs work if you ask and have someone to fix it or pay me to fix it.
