Review: I financed a car from this dealership on June 14, 2013. At the time the check engine light was on and the owner told me it was due to an old gas cap. The breaks squeaked and made a funny noise when I pressed on them. I took the car back and he repaired the breaks which needed break pads. The car had just been inspected May 17th and I wondered how it passed with the check engine light on and the breaks as bad as they were. I took the car to advance auto where they used their machine and told me the gas cap had nothing to do with the check engine light being on and that it was an emissions leak. I took the car back and the owner had me take it [redacted] auto so they could check to see why the light was on. It was there they told me that the car was burning oil and that the engine was bad. I was sold a lemon. I can't pay $3000 to replace the engine and I feel he knew this when he sold the car.Desired Settlement: I want the owner to pay to have this fixed. I don't know how it passed inspection. The car sat on the lot from May 17 until June when I purchased it.

In response to the consumers complaint. I would like to express that we here at Phil's Auto Body and Used Cars take great pride in serving our consumers honestly and respectfully. The situation at hand is so very unexpected and unforeseen. The vehichle was inspected as required by law.

In additon the consumer was fully aware that the used vehichle was Sold As Is. An awareness form of possible things that may go wrong with the vehicle was signed and dated by the consumer.

Please also note that even with the situation being, we still offered assistance to the consumer in adddressing her concerns.
