I sent in my perfect MacBook Pro for a small refund of $105 and was told I would get 0$ for it because the screen was damaged and keys didn't work.
I sent my 2010 MacBook Pro to Phobio for a token $105 refund. There was no damage to my MacBook Pro and all keys worked when I sent the device in. Low and behold, I get a message from Phobio saying that they would offer $0 for my MacBook because the control key didn't work and the screen was damaged. I looked at pictures of the damage and there was literally gouges taken out of screen and scratched everywhere. I urgently called Phobio and was told that they didn't cause damage and that the box it was received in wasn't damaged either so it must have been the way I sent the MacBook in. I was also told that there are no sharp edges where they inspect the MacBook Pro so it couldn't have been them who damaged my MacBook. Are you kidding me!!?? No sharp edges!!!??? I have escalated my claim to a supervisor at Phobio. I also have pictures of my MacBook Pro in perfectly good working order and no damage whatsoever to the screen. My wife can attest to this as well. I have no problem escalating this even further if there is no response from Phobio!

Desired Outcome

I was told I would receive a paltry $105 for my MacBook and I accepted this in order for someone else to have my MacBook. I understand Phobio sells these devices on to others. I expect the $105 promised for my MacBook Pro in the condition I sent it, which was flawless.

Hi ***, thank you for sharing your experience. Our records indicate your device was received with physical damage that is inconsistent with possible transit damage. No damage to the box was notated by our inspectors, nor were any shipping discrepancies reported in the FedEx tracking. It appears that your trade has already been escalated to a Support Supervisor, and he is currently in communication with you. If you have further concerns, please refer to those communications or correspond with him directly. Thank you, Phobio Support.

This is a bogus and fraudulent company. The superior is no help and unable to give me the answer that is needed. The company damaged my device, I have prior pictures of my device before sending it in. I will take further appropriate action to expose the fraudulent practices of this illegitimate business. I will be following up legally if my issue isn't resolved appropriately and equitably. Fraud!

Hi ***, it looks like Sai, one of our Support Supervisors, sent you an email on Thursday, 7/11 and agreed to honor the quoted value. While we stand by our process, we value the customer's experience, and we are working with Apple to have your refund processed. Apple estimates that you will receive your funds within 14 days, depending on your financial institution. If you have any questions regarding your payment, you will need to reach out to Apple directly at 1-800-MY-APPLE, as Phobio does not have access to your payment information. We appreciate you bringing your concerns to our attention. Thank you, Phobio Support.

Shipped two functioning and un-damaged Apple laptops to Phobio using their packaging. They claim they were damaged and won't pay full valuation price.
Shipped a Macbook Pro (Phobio Value= $300) and Macbook Air (Phobio Value= $196) to Phobio using their packaging. They receive my laptops and then claim that they are damaged by sending me pictures of their damage. I just upgraded to a 2019 Macbook Pro and know those machines were undamaged before shipping. Phobio wants to pay only $60 for each computer. This a $376 difference in value. They will not respond to my requests via email and so I have no choice but to report them to the Revdex.com. It seems this business is scamming many customers. I'm sure they'll sell my perfectly working laptop for profit. It's unsettling that such a reputable company like Apply has aligned themselves with this company.

Desired Outcome

I want to be paid the original agreed upon value, $300 for my My Macbook Pro and $196 for my Macbook Air, in the agreed upon format, an Apple Store gift card.

Phobio Response • Jul 09, 2019

Hi ***, thank you for sharing your experience. Our records indicate that we received both devices with damage that prevents us from being able to offer the full-working value for each device. Your MacBook Air was delivered to us with a bent corner as well as pitted gouging along the edges of the device, which could not have occurred in-transit with the protection of foam and cardboard. Transit damage would more likely present itself as a completely smooth dent. Your MacBook Pro was received with a broken/worn hinge cover, which may seem insignificant, but it is a costly and labor-intensive repair. The photo we provided shows signs of peeling, so this does not appear to be fresh, but likely happened over time with repeated heating. Neither shipping kit was received with any signs of transit damage, and no discrepancies with the shipments were reported by FedEx. As Phobio is not authorized to make repairs to devices, computers are resold in As-Is condition. Any damage requiring repairs by the new owner can significantly decrease the value we are able to offer. As you said, Phobio's goal as a business is to resell devices for a profit to cover the cost of shipping and other expenses that we incur while facilitating this program, so it would not benefit us to damage a device or scam a customer. The values we offer are determined in partnership with Apple, and are based on current market rates. It appears that you have already accepted the new offer for your Air, and your Pro is currently processing for return back to you. We certainly understand your desire to receive a higher value for your second device, and while we are unable to negotiate our values, you are welcome to sell your device privately or look into other trade-in programs. We appreciate your feedback and it has been properly documented. Thank you, Phobio Support.

My macbook pro had no damage at all when I sent it to Phobio. I should receive the full assessed value for that item. I concede that the macbook air has a small dent on a corner.

Phobio has multiple complaints from customers who swho sent it perfectly good machine and then were told they had a crack or dent.

I wish I had looked up this company before sending my machines. I expected them to operate withe same customer service quality as Apple.

Be warned, just craigslist your mac.

Phobio Response • Jul 15, 2019

Hi ***, while we understand your concerns, it is quite possible you never noticed the damage to your MacBook Pro, as it is located on the back of the device. Most of us as regular, every day users do not have reason to look at the back of our computers. Attached is the photo we captured of the stated damage to the hinge cover: https://s3.amazonaws.com/media.phobio.com/trade_images/XXXXXXXXXXX_1.jpg As you can see, there is notable peeling of the black film over the cover, indicating this is not new/fresh damage. If this damage occurred in transit, we would not see this type of peeling, as this is likely the result of the hinge cover being repeatedly heated and cooler over years of use. We certainly understand your desire to receive a higher value for your device, and although we can only offer the revised value that was communicated to you, this device has been returned back to the address on file, and you are welcome to pursue other options of obtaining a value. Thank you, Phobio Support.

I received my macbook pro back. It still works well and I'll be finding it a new home. Now that I have my device back, I don't want to pursuing this claim. I advise anyone to resell through other methods or donate functioning devices with minor faults.

Phobio, be transparent with your customers about your value structure.

Bait and switch pricing. Traded in a used Mac and given significantly less than initial quoted price because of supposed issues.
Earlier this year I used Phobio to trade in my iMac. I provided them all the information about the iMac and they gave me a trade in quote of $510. I agreed and they sent me Phobio provided packaging. I followed their instructions for clearing my personal data off of the machine and packaged it up. I physically inspected it to ensure it was not only wiped down and clean but that the screen was fine and unit was good before packaging it up. I had been using it as my daily machine with no issues. I am an engineer and keep my stuff pristine and in top working order. It should have been in good as new condition when sent. I packaged it up in the provided box as the instructions stated and shipped it out. I received an email that the unit arrived but I was shocked to get an email on 2/7/19 not long after saying that because of the condition it was in I would only be recieving $130 instead of $510. They claimed something wrong with the screen and that it had hinge damage, neither of which were present when I packaged it. So they were either mistaken or untruthful about it or it was damaged in shipping via their provided packaging. If you don't like Phobio's updated offer they say they will mail it back but why would I want a machine that is in worse shape than when I sent it? I felt trapped, either losing out on hundreds of dollars or receiving my machine back now broken. It was a lose lose situation as a consumer.

Information from my emails:
Confirmation #: XXXXXXXXXXX
Apple iMac Core i7 3.5 GHz 27" Al (Late XXXX) XTB Fusion
Condition: Working
Quoted Value: $510.00

Desired Outcome

I would like the full quoted value of my trade in of $510. Apple Gift card is fine since that is what the original promised method was.

Phobio Response • Jul 03, 2019

Hi ***, thank you for sharing your trade-in experience. Our records indicate that your iMac was received at our facility with a non-functioning hinge, as well as functional damage to the screen. Our inspectors check for signs of transit damage during inspection, but did not identify any issues with the box the device arrived in, nor was the screen physically damaged as we would expect if the package was mishandled during shipment. We can only speak to the condition the device arrives in, and without evidence of anything occurring in transit, your quoted offer was revised to the damaged value for that device model. Each customer is given a 14 day period to take action on an adjusted offer, and it does not appear that you reached out to our Support Team to discuss the inspection results or to dispute the damage we identified upon receipt. Due to the amount of time that has passed *** this trade was closed and the value paid out, Phobio is unable to take action to reopen this trade or otherwise investigate this case with FedEx, as the device is no longer at our facility. We are truly sorry that you are unhappy with your experience and hope that if we do business together in the future, you will not hesitate to contact us for assistance or further clarification. However, we do appreciate your feedback, and it has been documented. Thank you, Phobio Support.

Customer Response • Jul 22, 2019

Company claims in reply each customer is given 14 days to reach out to support regarding the offer but that is not listed anywhere in the email that was sent notifying me that they had changed the original offer. Unsatisfied that this was closed and will continue to escalate until this is properly resolved.

Customer Response • Jul 29, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Do not accept resolution since no resolution was provided. They claim they are unable to do anything at this time to honor their quoted trade in. Issue will be resolved when they escalate this to someone who can assist with resolving this issue and honor the original quoted price.

Phobio Response • Jul 29, 2019

Hi ***, all of our emails regarding revised offers include the number of days left until the quarantine period expires. The date of the quarantine expiration is also listed on your trade status page, which is where the customer must go to accept or reject the new offer. Our Terms and Conditions and Support Page also reference the 14 day period, and the links to our page and contact information can be found in our automated emails as well. Again, we are sorry that you are unhappy with your experience, but as this offer was Accepted back in February, there is no further action we can take at this time. Thank you, Phobio Support.

Phobio has unfair business practice in paying their agreed upon amount to customer for device. They change it after they get device.
Initiated a trade in with Apple. They use phobio as a middle transactor. Phobio sent a small cardboard box with no padding to ship a laptop computer them. I followed their instructions completely and sent my device in with ZERO scratches, dents, or cracks. However, when my device arrived, they claim it somehow had a crack. Now, they want to not hold up their end of the deal and pay the amount agreed to. The crack occurred while in their care, not mine. I am not responsible for damage done in their practices via shipping or inspection. They are responsible since they provide the shipping box, label, etc.

Desired Outcome

They need to provide safe and suitable boxes for shipping a device. They need to offer recompense for damaging a device in transit or in their care. They are responsible for these expensive electronics from the moment they are dropped off at a shipping place. They should be inspected for legal business practice as I feel they damaged my property on purpose for the sole reason of lowering what they'd have pay to me in order to sell it for more and make more money for themselves. They are padding their bottom line.

Phobio Response • Jul 03, 2019

Hi ***, thank you for sharing your experience with us. Our records indicate that we received your device with a small crack in the hinge cover. Our inspectors did not identify any damage to the shipping kit, nor was any damage reported by FedEx. Our shipping kits are specifically designed to protect devices while in-transit, but if something did occur, we would expect to find some evidence of that on the box or in FedEx shipment history. We also did not identify any other damage to the housing of the device once received, such as bent corners, which would more likely be the result if the package was damaged or dropped. Our inspectors can only speak to the condition of the device as we receive it, and without signs of transit damage or additional information, they make the necessary adjustments to the quote based on the value Phobio is able to offer for the device. Phobio does not make any repairs, as we are required to re-sell these devices in as-is condition, so there is no incentive for Phobio to purposely damage a device, as that prevents us from selling the device for the full value. We would like you to know that our Support Line is available 7 days a week from 8am-12am, and we always appreciate the opportunity to review a trade and discuss our findings. It does not appear that we have received any correspondence from you to dispute the damages identified prior to your rejection of the revised offer on the same day as inspection, 6/28/19. As you have already rejected this trade, the device has been returned to you via FedEx tracking # XXXXXXXXXXXX, and this trade has been closed. We are sorry that you were unhappy with your experience and we appreciate your feedback. Thank you, Phobio Support.

Sent my excellent condition iMac in for trade in and was promised $140. Computer was damaged during transit so Phobio, LLC devalues computer to $40.
On May 21, 2019 my excellent condition iMac Core i5 2.7GHz 27" (Mid 2011) 1TB computer was in perfect operating condition when I packed it carefully according to their exact instructions, using the packing material and box that was provided by Phobio. I then affixed the shipping label and took it to the FedEx office for shipping on May 21, 2019 at 8:03am. My order number is WXXXXXXXXX and the FedEx tracking label was XXXXXXXXXXXX. On May 31, 2019 I received a email notifying me my trade in has been revised to $40 from $125. The reason given was "Physical Screen Damage". When I handed over the box to the FedEx agent on May 21, 2019 there was no damage of any kind to the computer or box. I followed the instructions exactly on how to pack and ship my computer using the mandated FedEx carrier. If there was any type of scratch, dent, or physical screen damage it had to have happened while in the care of FedEx or Phobio. I didn't accept the offer of $40 and the iMac was shipped back to me. I received it back on June 7, 2019 from FedEx with the box totally smashed. iMac was just placed in box with screen flat against the cardboard and styrofoam packing material placed behind the computer. Screen was shattered in several places and pieces of glass were falling out of box. The tracking number for the return is FedEx XXXXXXXXXXXX. I had text with apple support on June 11, 2019 which continued on June 12, 201. They finally sent my the Apple Service phone number. I then called Apple Service which transferred me to Phobio. On June 12, 2019 at 10:13am I spoke to Dee from Phobio about what had happened and she had told me that the case has been elevated to management. She said Phobio management would get in contact with me within a few days. It is now June 26, 2019 and I still have not heard from anyone at Phobio on my case.

Desired Outcome

I would like my $125 returned to my credit card that was used to purchase the new iMac as agreed upon.

Hi ***, thank you for sharing your experience, and we are so sorry to hear your device was damaged in transit back to you! It looks a member of our Supervisor Support Team sent an email to ***@aol.com on 6/13 in response to your concerns, and he let you know that we would be partnering with Apple to approve your initially quoted value of $125 to address the issue. We contacted Apple that same day, so your refund has likely been processed on their end. Phobio does not have access to your payment information, so you would need to reach out to Apple directly at 1-800-MY-APPLE if you have questions regarding your refund status. We will also forward you the Supervisor's original email from 6/13 for your records. If you have any other questions regarding your trade, please feel free to reach back out to our Customer Support Line. Thank you, Phobio Support.

Phobio Service Trade In-Apple Products
I used Phobio trade In service regarding the product Apple MacBook Air
I sent my laptop MacBook Air to Phobio using their Kit to ship with FedEx.
Value of the laptop Trade In was $215. The product was in perfect condition when I shipped it to Phobio.
I received a message from Phobio stating that the "device's value has been updated" and that "the trade-in value of $215 was updated to $80 due to" damage related to "the display (screen).
Attached a very bad quality photo of a laptop screen irrelevant because nothing can be seen on the photo.
First the laptop I sent was in perfect condition;
Second I sued the kit provided by Phobio to send the product shipped with FedEx;
Third, the reasons stated by Phobio are not supported by explanations, and it is hard to believe that the screen of my laptop, which I inspected before shipping and was in perfect condition, is "damaged", I would have noticed it;
Fourth, Phobio seems to arbitrary and unilaterally lower prices that were quoted, which is an extremely deceptive practice and dishonest
Five, Phobio is the official Trade In company for Apple, I trust Apple as a mark, therefore I assumed I would trust Phobio to provide a quality service

Desired Outcome

I sent a laptop MacBook Air in perfect condition, and I am requesting Phobio to either inquire about the shipment itself, or its own inspection, and I request the full trade-in amount initially quoted, $215.

Phobio Response • Jun 28, 2019

Hi ***, thank you for reaching out to us, and we are sorry to hear you are not satisfied with your experience! Our records indicate we identified a display/pixel irregularity on your device during inspection, resulting in the appearance of a bright circle in the center of the display. It is possible you may not have noticed it during normal use with the appearance of a desktop wallpaper and various browers/applications, but we are required to cycle solid-colored screens across the display during inspection to check for clouding, bright spots, dark spots, dead pixels, lines in the display, and other irregularities that might otherwise affect the resale value of the device. These display issues are functional, not physical, so it is not related to physical trauma and would not have occurred in transit. Additionally, our inspectors look for signs of damage in-transit to the shipping materials and outside housing of the device, none of which was reported by our facility nor by FedEx. We are sorry if you were not able to view the adjustment photo properly, as displays can be difficult to photograph, but we will provide a direct link to the photo in hopes you can better see what we are indicating: https://s3.amazonaws.com/media.phobio.com/trade_images/XXXXXXXXXXX_1.jpg As Phobio resells devices in as-is condition, the revised value you received is the only amount we can offer for your device. You are not obligated to accept this new value, and by rejecting it, we will return your device to you in the same condition we received it in. It does not appear that you have attempted to contact our Support Team to discuss these findings before filing your complaint. Our team is available 7 days a week from 8am-12am via phone at 1-800-353-9028, and we always appreciate the opportunity to review our findings and better explain our grading process. We appreciate your feedback and it has been documented. Thank you, Phobio Support.

sent a perfectly working phone for trade in, they sent back a damaged and nonfunctioning phone
returned a perfectly good iphone 6s for trade in on Apple's program phobio are their 3rd party partner. the initial offer was $150, they declined, stating my phone had a bend in it as if I put it in my pocket and sat on it. and said led wasn't working. this all made no sense to me. I imediatly declined and asked for my phone back. it was returned to me destroyed! their is no evidence of me putting it in my pocket, but od someone detaching the led screen from the case. I called and didnt get anywhere. this is absolutly disgusting that this is hppening like this! I just want my phone back working.

Desired Outcome

couldn't be more satisfied with outcome.

Thank You

everything was made right!!

Quoted $195 for a MacBook Air trade-in, and upon receipt of laptop Phobio cited damage (that was not present on shipment) and reduced offer to $70.
On June 2, 2019, using the Apple Store website, I received a trade-in quote of $195 for a MacBook Air computer, which I accepted generating the trade-in process with Apple's third-party service provider, Phobio LLC. Phobio mailed me a box to ship the MacBook Air to Phobio. Following Phobio's instructions, I wiped the hard drive and packaged the MacBook Air in the box provided by Phobio. I originally intended to ship the laptop in the original Apple box, however it did not fit within the Phobio packaging. The Phobio packaging is a box made of plain corrugated material and the laptop is secured within the box by a thin sheet of plastic. There are no "Fragile" or "Handle with Care" indicators on the packaging.

At the time of shipping, the MacBook Air had no visible damage to the housing. The package was received by Phobio on June 18, 2019. On June 20, 2019, Phobio inspected the MacBook Air and sent me an email with a photo showing a dent in the corner of the housing and reduced the trade-in offer from $195 to $70. I immediately contacted Phobio's customer service on June 20, 2019 using the online chat function to indicate that the damage was not present upon shipping and asked that the original quote of $195 be honored as the damage either occurred in shipping or upon receipt by Phobio. Adriane at Phobio processed my claim and indicated that she would escalate the claim to a manager. On June 21, 2019, I received a follow-up email from Patrick at Phobio, citing the same information contained in the original email message (i.e., the housing was bent and the offer had been reduced to $70). Phobio did not provide any photos of the original packaging to determine whether there was damage to the box that could have explained the bent housing.

Upon a review of online complaints, there appears to be a disturbing pattern of Phobio asserting damage to the housing and then significantly reducing the trade-in value. I have reviewed both online message boards and the Revdex.com website and there appear to be a large number of similar complaints against Phobio. If this damage is truly present on all of these computers you have to wonder whether Phobio's packaging design is secure enough for shipping computers.

Phobio's proposed resolution is inadequate. My choice is either to receive $70 ($125 less than originally quoted) or a MacBook Air with damage that was not present when I originally shipped it to Phobio.

As a resolution of this matter, I simply request that Phobio honor its quoted trade-in value of $195.

Trade #: XXXXXXXXXXX

Desired Outcome

Apple Gift Card in the amount of $195

Phobio Response • Jun 27, 2019

Hi ***, thank you for sharing your experience! We are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your trade. Upon arrival to our facility, we thoroughly inspect each device for external damage and internal functionality. We also inspect shipping kits to look for signs of transit damage, and in this case, none was identified. Likewise, no damage in-transit was reported by FedEx in the tracking history. The dent identified to the rear, left corner of your device shows signs of pitted gouging, indicating the device was likely dropped on an uneven surface. Transit damage, although uncommon, would more likely result in a smooth, clean dent on the corner of the device, as the device is protected by cardboard and foam. Pitted gouging such as we identified on your device could not occur through that layer of cardboard and foam, and as both our inspectors and FedEx indicated no damage in-transit, we can only speak to the condition of the device as we received it. Phobio resells devices in as-is condition, so any device found with physical damage is eligible for a lower, revised value based on current market rates and determined in partnership with Apple. As your case has already been escalated and reviewed by a member of our Support Supervisor Team, please refer back to that initial communication received on 6/21 if you have any questions. Thank you, Phobio Support.

Customer Response • Jul 03, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The complaint was not resolved to my satisfaction as Phobio failed to honor its quoted value for my MacBook Air trade-in. In nearly identical situations, Phobio has treated its customers with more respect and resolved the Revdex.com complaint to the customer's satisfaction.

Apparently, Phobio, as Apple's trusted trade-in partner, no longer values my business.

I have rejected Phobio's low-ball offer and I am disappointed to be receiving back a computer that has damage that was not present when I shipped it using Phobio's supposedly secure packaging materials.

What's disappointing is that I had planned to ship the MacBook Air in its original box to Phobio, however, the laptop in its original packaging did not fit in Phobio's packing materials. Had I been able to ship the laptop in its original packaging, I do not believe the damage would have occurred.

I shipped a device in perfect condition to trade in. I received notification it was now damaged, and my trade in value reduced from $220 to $45.
Through Apple.com, I decided to trade in my Mid-2012 Macbook Pro. I was sent a trade in kit by Phobio. I followed the instructions to the letter and packaged the device properly. My device had absolutely no damage. There were no dents, and the hinge was in perfect condition. The original quoted value was $220. After shipping the device, I received notification that the trade in value was lowered to $45 due to damages. After reviewing online, I saw pictures of damage that WAS NOT THERE BEFORE I SENT THE ITEM. I contacted Phobio customer support to resolve the issue but they have not been any help. They keep suggesting that I decline the offer and just have the device shipped back to me, however I would be receiving a now damaged laptop that would not have been otherwise damaged!!

I suggested perhaps it was damaged in shipping or maybe one of the technicians could have dropped it. The representative told me that was not possible because the box was fine and their technicians "handle devices individually and with care." As if it is impossible for someone to have made a mistake???

It is infuriating to be told that my options are to accept $45 or a now damaged device. This is not how a company should operate.

Desired Outcome

I want to be paid the original agreed upon value of $220 for my laptop in the agreed upon format, an Apple Store gift card.

Phobio Response • Jun 26, 2019

Hi ***, thank you for sharing your experience! Upon arrival to our shipping facility, we independently inspect each computer to ensure the reported condition matches the criteria outlined on our trade-in site. We also thoroughly inspect each shipping kit for evidence of transit damage. In this case, we did not identify any damage to the materials, resulting in your revised offer. After reviewing your trade, although we stand by our process and saw no indication of transit damage, we value you as a customer and would like to ensure you have a good experience. We will honor the original quoted value for your trade in the amount of $220. Please look for your Apple Store Gift Card to arrive via email from [email protected] within 5 business days. If you do not see it, please check your Junk or Spam folder. We appreciate the opportunity to review your trade and hope this helps resolve the matter to your satisfaction. Thank you, Phobio Support.

Customer Response • Jun 26, 2019

After a lot of difficulty and fighting, the company has made this issue right and revised the value to $220. Although it was a difficult process, I appreciate that Phobio finally made things right. However, I still will not be using this company in the future.

Apple IPhone 7 was traded-in through Phobia in March 2019. Phobio claimed phone was unable to be accepted and returned phone.
Purchased new IPhone from Apple in March 2019. Traded-in old IPhone 7 for $250 to Phobio. Phobia "claims" they sent multiple emails suggesting the phone had hardware issues and could not accept. They mailed phone home. Purchased another IPhone in May, sent in the same exact phone(serial # *** and it was accepted with no questions asked. However, the rebate was now down $50 from original.

Desired Outcome

I would like the original $250 that both Apple and Phobio, as the surrogate offered. The phone had no internal issues as reported by Phobio customer service prior to phone being shipped home. It simply needed the "Find my IPhone" toggle turned off. To claim there were hardware issues was a lie and simply saved Phobio/Apple $50. I would like those $50.

Phobio Response • Jun 26, 2019

Hi ***, thanks for sharing your experience. Our records indicate we did process a trade for the same device back in April, but it did not pass our inspection test. As we are not Apple Authorized Technicians, we are not able to troubleshoot or diagnose issues identified during inspection, and must rely on our ability to fully complete our inspection software to determine the working, as-is condition of any device so that it can be re-homed. In this case, something prevented us from completing that software test, resulting in the revised offer. As previously stated, we cannot speak to the root cause of the issue, and therefore cannot speculate as to why the device passed inspection when traded in a second time. When you created the second trade for your device, you were presented with the offer of the device based on current market rates. By proceeding with that trade and sending your device in to Phobio, you agreed to the $200 value that was being offered at that time. If you desired a higher value for your device than what Phobio was able to offer, you were in no way obligated to proceed with your trade and could look into other options of obtaining a value, such as selling the device privately. Our records indicate we did not receive any communication from you regarding the offered amount until after your device was shipped to Phobio, at which time the trade was already in-process. There is no further action that Phobio can take at this time, as your trade has already been closed and your refund has likely been issued by Apple. However, we do appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to review your trade. Thank you, Phobio Support.

#1. Phobio incorrectly (diagnosed) a problem with the IPhone. There is a claim you are unable to diagnose/troubleshoot issues with the phone. However, that is exactly what your customer service representative did (Kiana-4-22-19). #2. There was no "revised offer" for the phone, for the case was already closed by Phobio. #3. the $200 offer was the second time we went through the process for the same phone and has little value here other than the acknowledgment there was nothing wrong with the phone-in spite of what I was told by Phobio and confirmed by Apple! T

The solution appears to have been quite simple. The only issue was my son neglected to toggle a switch off, because he was out of the country when an email was sent by Phobio. Since that time way too much time has been spent here. I am glad Phobio will use (or not) this case a training piece or feedback for their operations, but doesn't resolve it for me.
Clearly, if that was the only issue with the phone, there should be a procedure for correcting it. Other then closing a case, returning the phone and sending the customer to another vendor.
Someone profited from the $50 and it was not me.

Here is a timeline, I hope this helps?

April 12, 2019 my son received an email from Phobio. He(we) never saw/read for it was caught in SPAM until he returned from country after spring break.

On 4-22-19 I spoke with (Kiana-Phobio) who told me. "They were not able to wipe the phone clean, so we are returning it." She told me there were software and hardware issues with the IPhone. I told her that didn't make any sense, because the phone was working when it shipped. Nothing they(Phobio) can do at this point, because the phone is not working and they closed the case??? It will arrive sometime after 5-8-19. Phone arrives 5-6-19...

5-8-19 Contact Apple looking for assistance or explanation. They a third party vendor and nothing we can do.

5-15-19 Speak with (Dee-Phobio) regarding issue. Nothing they can do, because the case was closed already. I asked if this happened before? "Yes, all the time. We process 1000 phones/day. They have tried many times to address similar issues with Apple. Phobio reached to Apple on 5-13-19. She suggested I could use another vendor and get a gift card(Bright Star) $126.

5-15-19 Trade-in same phone to purchase a new one. Trade in value now $200 (Apple website changed). Genius bar at Apple-nothing wrong with the phone. Simply forgot to turn-off "Find My IPhone" toggle switch!

5-19-19 Apple customer service suggest I reach back to Phobio to resolve. Send email to (Phobio Matthew Q.) who incorrectly read file/email. Let him know I filed a Revdex.com complaint.

***,

You are welcome to take any action you deem to be necessary. Please be advised that any Revdex.com complaints will be directed to our support team and the same resolution will be provided given the fact that the value of your depreciated since the time of your original trade. In addition, your trade was originally rejected due to your device not being able to complete our data erasure process, which is required per our partnership with Apple. You stated that you were able to fix the issues with your device and were able to trade the same device in again because a new trade had been initiated. Apple is aware of our all trade policies and processes, so I wish you the best in your pursuit.

Subject: Re: Apple Trade In

Matthew,

Thank you for your quick response. I earlier filed a complaint with the Revdex.com regarding this issue. I assumed this was going to be the response based on the initial customer service contact. I disagree with you when you state the "quoted" $200 value at that time. The phone's value was quoted on the Apple website as $250, at that time and remained through mid-May, if I remember correctly. I am fully aware the value of phones change at any given moment. This was the 4th phone we have processed through Apple/Phobio /IPhone X program. However, it was also the only phone rejected by Phobio and then later accepted? Including (Phobio)customer service claims suggesting there were both software and hardware issues with the phone, as the reasons for initial rejection.

I will continue with the Revdex.com complaint, unless you are better able to resolve this issue. I will attach both emails to complaint tomorrow. In addition, Apple customer service will be made aware of how this has played out.
Thank you

I find it so funny how Phobio's perspective keeps changing around the fringes and continues to deflect responsibility, once I provide additional information including names/dates. Your own customer service representative "advocate" told me (e.g. didn't speculate, didn't give other examples, etc.) there were software/hardware issues as the ONLY reason for the return. Phobio continues to try to help me understand market fluctuations, spammed email, Apple's perspective and the simple process to wipe the phone clean. I get the process, that is why I started the process with the Revdex.com. You simply refuse to acknowledge and assume responsibility for misleading a return customer and thoroughly disregarding my perspective.

Again... not to sound too much like your own broken record. The phone was rejected by Phobio and that same phone was subsequently accepted. The market value changed from $250 to $200 in that time. I'm retired and simply don't understand how you can continue to spend time on this? Time surely better spent helping your "advocates" better understand (YOUR) process (and what they say). Or maybe a quick training on how to remind a 16 year old kid to toggle a switch off. A phone conversation or email would be examples. Or even better yet, have a customer service representative and/or supervisor do more homework prior to reaching back to a customer, to let them know you will doing nothing anyways. All of these things prior to rejecting a phone and wasting everyone's time.

Phobio Response • Jun 28, 2019

Hi ***, thank you for providing all of those records. As you stated, something prevented us from being able to properly inspect the device. Without running diagnostics, the most our phone advocates can do is give examples to help the customer better understand our findings. As we resell these devices to make our profit, we cannot offer a value for a device that is not successfully wiped and completely removed from a customer's account. You stated that you did receive the communication from Apple, as it was routed to the Spam folder based on your son's email filters, which is not dictated by the sender of the email, so that could not have been prevented on Apple's end. The values of these devices fluctuate, and offers are based on current market rates. As previously stated, this trade has already been closed no further action will be taken at this time, as the value was Accepted when you chose to proceed with sending the device in a second time, and you have already spoken with a supervisor. Thank you, Phobio Support.

phobio cancelled my iPhone 6s trade in incorrectly claiming the phone does not work.
I sent an Iphone 6s as part of trade in for a promised value of $200 toward new Iphone from apple. Phobio cancelled the trade in claiming that the device does not power on. I received the device back and it is in fully working condition. I emailed Phobio questioning their decision and providing them with pictures. They insisted that the phone cannot be part of the apple trade in deal (for a value of $200) however I could strat new trade claim. I did try to start a new trade but they would value the phone at only $120.

Desired Outcome

I request that phobio accept to finish the apple trade in deal as advertised for $200

Phobio Response • Jun 26, 2019

Hi ***, thank you for sharing your experience with us. Our records indicate your device was adjusted for "Device Does Not Power On" but based on the photo attached to your trade, it was actually an issue with the device booting the Operating System, and the inspector did not have an adjustment reason to select which matched this scenario. We are required by Apple to inspect devices in the condition they are received it, and because we are inspectors and not technicians, we are not authorized to troubleshoot, diagnose, or attempt to alter the device in any way, aside from running our inspection software. In your case, the device was indicating it could not boot the Operating System and was prompting us to plug it in to iTunes to manually download the software it needed. This is likely the reason the device functioned normally once you received it, although the fact that it did not boot automatically at our facility indicates a possible internal issue with the device. We understand the confusion with the adjustment reason, and although we stand by our inspection findings, we value your experience and we realize that the reason you were given for the revised offer was not quite accurate. We would like to provide you with a FedEx shipping label to return the device to our facility, at which time we will offer you the initially quoted value of $200. Please look for an email to be received at ***@hotmail.com sometime today with the attached FedEx label so we can begin working toward a resolution for you. We appreciate your feedback and thank you for the opportunity to review your trade. Thank you, Phobio Support.

Computer in perfect condition sent to this company who promised $145 Apple gift card. Company devalues computer saying it was damaged when received.
This company offered me a $145 Apple gift card in exchange for a used Apple computer, subject to the company's examination of the computer. On May 29, Phobio sent me me a confirmation number of XXXXXXXXXXX, and provided a shipping box and instructions for packaging and mailing. The computer was in perfect operational condition when I packed it carefully according to their instructions, using their shipping container, and affixed the shipping label they provided and took it to the Fedex office for shipping on May 29. On June 5, the company emailed me to say the device's value had been changed to $40, "due to the base having physical trauma to the hinge". There was no damage of any kind to this computer at the time I shipped it. I used the shipping carton mandated by the company. I followed the packing instructions to the letter. I used the Fedex shipping label and shipped via Fedex as mandated. If trauma occurred, it had to have happened while the computer was in the hands of Fedex or Phobio.
The computer is a 2010 iMac 27inch with 8GB Ram, 2TB Drive, 256K SSD. The Serial Number is ***.

Desired Outcome

Send me the $145 Apple gift card as promised.

Phobio Response • Jun 18, 2019

Hi ***, thank you for sharing your experience. Our records indicate that we received your iMac with a broken hinge, as you already indicated. When a device is received at our facility, we inspect the shipping kit for any signs of possible transit damage, and none was reported by our inspectors nor by FedEx in the shipment history. We can only speak to the condition of the device as we received it, and our findings were communicated to you once inspection was complete. We do not show that you have attempted to contact our Support Team to discuss our findings before filing your complaint., We welcome the opportunity to review every case and take into account any additional information that the customer can provide. If you had contacted our Support Team, we likely could have resolved this to your satisfaction. After reviewing your case, we will be filing a claim with FedEx so that we may honor your original quote of $145. Please look for your Apple Store Gift Card to arrive via email from ***@virtualrewardcenter.com within 5 business days. Thank you, Phobio Support.

Computer damaged in shipping or at Phobio, trade-in value reduced
I sent in an 2010 iMac in perfect working condition, with no scratches or dents, and received an estimated value of $145. After receiving the device, Phobio sent me a close-up photo of a large gouge / dent on the corner of the computer housing, and reduced the value to $40. The photo doesn't even look like my computer. After reviewing Apple's support community and the Revdex.com page, it seems that this is standard operating procedure for Phobio. Apple may want to reconsider their partnership with this company.

Desired Outcome

I would like the $145 originally offered

Customer Response • Jun 10, 2019

After bringing up my concerns in a Chat session, Phobio responded by offering the original $145. I am awaiting Apple Store Gift Card within the next 3-5 business days.

I sent in my MacBook Air. They offered me way less after "inspection." Sent only a low quality picture as their evidence of the issue.
I started a quote with Phobio in hopes to use the trade in gift card towards a new computer. First, they did not have tracking on the first shipping materials box they were supposed to send. After it had exceeded 5 business days, I called to see if a box was sent because quotes are only valid for 21 days, so the matter was time sensitive. The representative I spoke to was very helpful and pleasant and got a new box sent to me after blaming the issue on Fed Ex. One day after I called, the box with no tracking arrived. This worried me about sending back a box with an expensive computer inside. However, I sent it anyways and it was received and then followed the inspection. My original quote was $385 and had been reduced to $135. The reason being because of something wrong with the pixels on the screen. Which they attempted to demonstrate with a white screen and arrows. The "proof" that was sent to me was low quality. I could not read the words on the top of the screen, the background was entirely black, and a quarter of the picture was black. Making it entirely impossible to know what screen this was. It was not clear it was a laptop, tablet, or desk top, let alone my MacBook Air. I was shocked by this issue and wanted to reach out to Fed Ex to file a damage claim, but after reading other Revdex.com complaints, I see this is a common practice by Phobio. They offer you more than the device goes for on Ebay for example, and they try to get you to accept a major reduction of a quote once the device is no longer in your hands. I called to get the serial number of my computer from a representative to make sure whatever they send back to me is my actual computer. Hopefully this has also not been altered and I actually receive my original computer back. As I typed in the serial number given to be to apple and it is now saying the number belongs to a model a year older than mine. I'm incredibly shocked that Apple would associate itself and even force their customers to use this third party service to do trade ins.

Desired Outcome

I want my computer back in its original, unbroken condition.

Phobio Response • Jun 18, 2019

Hi ***, thank you for sharing your trade-in experience. Our records indicate we identified a display discrepancy with your device, which can be frustrating given that pixel irregularities can be masked by the appearance of a desktop wallpaper or other images presented on your computer during normal use. For this reason and as part of inspection process, we are required to cycle solid-colored screens across the display to look for bright spots, dark spots, dead pixels, lines in the display, or other irregularities that may affect the resale value of the device. In this case, we identified a clear ring in the display, identified in the photo we provided as a courtesy. The screen displayed in the photo is part of our inspection software, and as the display is light-emitting, it can be difficult to capture a clear picture. I will provide a direct link to the picture in hopes you can get a better idea of our findings: https://s3.***.com/media.phobio.com/trade_images/XXXXXXXXXXX_1.jpg we certainly understand your desire to receive a higher value for your device, and although our pricing structure is defined in partnership with Apple, you may be able to receive more for your device by selling it privately. Your device has already been processed for return shipment back to the address we have on file, and it will be returned in the same condition which it was received by us. We appreciate your feedback and we are sorry the outcome was not what you anticipated. Thank you, Phobio Support.

This is a complete rip-off. Your trade in will come way too late to be applied to the cost of new computer, you can't use the *** gift card anywhere but an Apple store or the Apple store online, and it can't even be used to buy music or videos on iTunes.

Totally unhappy customer here. Making complaints. This is going to be a class action lawsuit.

Phobio Response • Jun 28, 2019

Hi Shan, thank you for your feedback. Apple's standalone trade-in program does offer an Apple Store Gift Card, and all timelines for the process are made known to the customer to set the proper expectation. Also, you should be able to use your gift card to purchase an iTunes gift card, which is compatible for the iTunes Store. For future reference, Apple also has a trade-in with purchase program where you can initiate a trade during the checkout process while purchasing your new device online. This allows you to purchase your new device in advance, and later receive a refund based on the value determined during inspection. Phobio only facilitates the shipping and inspection for these programs, but we are sorry if you were unhappy with your experience!

Claimed my computer was damaged to reduce the trade-in value
I submitted my MacBook Pro for a quoted trade-in value of $145. I had the computer for several years and kept it in excellent condition. I followed all the steps of wiping my data off the laptop and packaged the laptop properly in the box they had sent. They sent me a picture back claiming the hinge was broken and offered me $30 for the laptop. When I spoke to them on the phone, they were completely useless. I will never trust or use this company ever again. I should have read the hundreds of reviews to know not to send my laptop to them. After hearing the stories of how they sent back damaged computers to people who rejected their offer, I decided to accept the offer and move on with my life. But clearly very upset about it, hence posting here. Hopefully something can be done so others don't go through this.

Desired Outcome

I would like the initial offered trade-in value of $145.

Phobio Response • Jun 11, 2019

Hi *** thank you for reaching out to share your feedback. Our records indicate that we received your device with a broken hinge cover, as well as a dent to the corner of the device. We inspect each shipping kit for signs of transit damage, and in this case, we did not identify any discrepancies. Phobio does not stand to profit from damaging a device, as we are required to resell these devices in as-is condition. While reviewing your trade, although we cannot prove transit damage and can only speak to the condition of the device as we received it, we value your experience and are willing to honor your original trade-in value. We will process an additional payment in the amount of $115, and you should receive a second email from ***@virtualrewardcenter.com within 5 business days. We hope this will help to alleviate any negative feelings you have about your experience. Thank you, Phobio Support.

Customer Response • Jun 13, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
They refunded me the original value that they said they would send.

Trade in Value of $480.00 was dropped to $95.00 because they think the screen is broken, it is not.
I purchased a new laptop from Apple.ca and during the online order I was given the prompt that I could trade in my old laptop with Phobio. So I clicked the link and after entering my trade in laptops specifications was told I would receive $480.00, which I accepted and I shipped my laptop off to them.

Today I received a quote back from them that there was a problem with the screen and would only be getting $95.00 back.

I called Phobio today and told that because their inspection department inspected the laptop it would be this amount, I told him that is an insane drop in refund for something I never had a problem with since I'm a professional graphic designer and used the laptop on a daily basis. The customer service agent agreed with me, saying that I should refuse the trade in and try and find somewhere else to trade it in.

So, there own customer service department is in agreement with me about the drastic drop in value and that is isn't right.

Also there are many online posts about this Phobio service doing the same to other people, who like me believed that something promoted on Apple's website would be a top quality service, instead we've been ripped off by someones random determination of value that is a fraction of what we were told.

My Phobio confirmation # is XXXXXXXXXXX.

I called apple and was told that I should call Phobio and to read their FAQ, which is another way of saying they don't care about the level of service of their partners and how they treat their customers.

I don't know if they damaged the screen, if it was damaged on shipment but I don't have the time or patience to deal with this, I just want these crooks to stop being promoted on Apple.

I've accepted their $95 value that was taken down from $480 because god knows what has happened to the hardware on their end but this sent right and they should be held to account for their lack of truth and trying to rip people off by suddenly saying the item that was quoted is nowhere near the amount now.

Seems like they've found a great way to make money by lying to people and Apple seems to be helping them do it.

Desired Outcome

This is a service promoted on the Apple website as a service that is on the level of Apple. They are not, they have NUMEROUS complaints on the Internet and instances of people being treated the same way I was, an item listed for a much larger trade in value and then due to some erroneous claim of damage the trade in value gets drastically cut. I was sent a picture of the damaged screen and I can see reflections of the office and light fixtures

Phobio Response • Jun 18, 2019

Hi ***, thank you for sharing your experience with us. Our records indicate that we received your device with a bright spot in the display, indicated in the photo that was provided to you. We understand your concerns about the drop in value, but both our working and damaged values are set in partnership with Apple based on current market rates. We resell devices in as-is condition, and a display issue cannot be repaired without replacing the entire display, which dramatically decreases the value we can offer through our program. You were likely advised to reject your offer, as you may be able to receive a higher value by selling the device privately, as our damage values are fixed in our system. If you had rejected the offer, the device would have been returned to you in the same condition which it was received by us, as our inspection is software based along with a physical examination of the display and housing of the device, so it would not have been altered. As you accepted this revised offer, your Apple Store Gift Card has been processed and emailed to you via Virtual Reward Center. We are sorry the outcome of your trade was not as you anticipated, and we appreciate your feedback. Thank you, Phobio Support.

I sent phobio a functioning phone in the trade-back program. They dropped value to 0. Sent back a non-functioning phone.
I took part in the trade-back program with Apple. I should have paid closer attention to the third-party involved. I sent a fully functioning phone, though to be honest, there was a glitch with the battery. I answered "No" to the phone being in good condition because of this glitch, but then it asked if the glass was uncracked and buttons were fully functioning. They are and I was told I'd get $200 in credit anyways..... what did I have to lose. I could always asked for my phone back. So I took the plunge only to get a $0 value back because of "a software issue". They said they were going to "recycle" it. I said "No Thank you, send it back to me so I can use it". They sent me a phone that does not function. It is stuck on the plug into iTunes page. 6 hours later with Apple showed they had fried it good. At this point I researched the company Phobio, only to find the SAME dishonest practices repeated again and again. I was disappointed with the Revdex.com grade I saw compared to the overall satisfaction of the consumers. I contacted the company hoping that they would rectify their mistake in breaking my phone, them hence not wanting further bad press. But obviously, they've figure out how to game the system in getting a "B" rating here. To put it simply, the phone my wife has used for years no longer functions because it fell into Phobio hands. When I sent it it had been reset on the "Hello" page ready for download. They did a "deeper" erase destroying my phone. Buyer Beware when it comes to this company. I expect a class action to eventually happen against Phobio, and without recompense, I expect to be part of it.

Desired Outcome

Seeing all the unhappy consumers, I honestly don't expect this company to rectify their mistake. I would be fine with multiple different resolutions from repairing the damage they caused, to giving me the $200 promised when they had a fully functioning phone.

Phobio Response • Jun 05, 2019

Hi ***, thank you for sharing your trade-in experience. Our records indicate your trade was revised due to a data erasure issue. Apple requires Phobio to utilize a security-grade erasure software on every device the we receive, which is intended to completely remove all personal information, as well as test the complete working condition of the device. If the device does not pass this software test, we are not able to accept it for trade, as we cannot ensure that all personal information has been removed and that all internal components are functioning properly. Less than 1% of devices experience this issue, and as we are not technicians, we cannot diagnose or troubleshoot the error. Your case has already been reviewed by a supervisor, and no further action can be taken by Phobio at this time. We appreciate your feedback and will share it with the appropriate parties. Thank you, Phobio Support.

Customer Response • Jun 05, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
So Phobio destroys another device and it's Apple's fault? As much as I'm sure Phobio would like to pass the buck, Phobio received a functioning phone and sent back a non-functioning phone. Blame it on the software..... on Apple..... but there is a reason Phobio has the customer review it has. Phobio is an immoral and corrupt company looking at strictly profit. If Phobio had sent back my phone in the same condition, you'd have no complaint. I'd be a little disturbed you dropped my value to $0 after promising $200, but I'd move on with my phone as was. I'm not sure how a company can literally turn on a phone, work with it, break it, and pretend like the fault is on anyone, in this case you mention Apple, the phone, the software, etc., and not take any responsibility for it. None. Sounds crazy. And yet here we are.

Phobio Response • Jun 11, 2019

Hi ***, as previously stated, we run this software test on every device we receive, and it is meant to erase and test the internal functionality of the device. It would not serve us nor our customers if the software fried devices or otherwise altered them. As we were not able to run our inspection software to ensure the working condition of the device once it was received at our facility, the issue was communicated to you and the device was returned per your request. Our intention is not to place or shift blame, and we can only speak to the results of the inspection. We are sorry that the trade-in process did not meet your expectations and your feedback has been recorded. Thank you, Phobio Support.

Customer Response • Jun 12, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Your dishonesty is showing. Why buy a phone for $200, and not be able to get that money back even for a perfect iPhone 6s (business model never made sense), when you can "recycle" that same phone (which you attempted to do with mine) and get all those parts for free. You'd make all kinds of money with that dishonest model. I was insistent to get my phone back when Phobio said it was "worthless", because the parts have already been very helpful. Doesn't change the fact that Phobio took my functioning phone and fried it for your own profit with which you said you'd get none. 2 out of 5 stars on Revdex.com, obviously you don't care about your customers. It seems to me that your strategy is to wear down your "customers" (which are actually Apple's customers). I will not be one of those.

My imac was sent for trade-in & was not scratched, dented or physically damaged. Upon receipt, they sent a photo that showed a large dent.
I had sent an iMac in for trade-in and the value was suggested to be $115. The computer was on a desk as long as I owned it and it did not have any scratches, dents or physical damage. After Phobio received and inspected, they sent a photo of a large dent in the side of the computer and decreased the value to $30.
I am alleging that the dent occurred after they had receipt of the computer. I had packed the computer in their styrofoam and box that they provided to me. It was completely cushioned.
Trade #XXXXXXXXXXX
Apple iMac Core i5 2.8GHz 27" AI (Mid 2010) 1TB
May 2019

Desired Outcome

I would like Phobio to acknowledge that the computer was damaged after they received and I want the full $115 value that was originally recommended.

Phobio Response • Jun 05, 2019

Hi ***, thank you for sharing your experience. Our records indicate that you Accepted the revised offer on 6/2, without contacting our Support Team for more information or further clarification. We can only speak to the condition of the device as we received it, and did not notate any signs of transit damage to the shipping materials. We re-home devices in their current condition, so Phobio would not benefit from damaging your device at our facility. As you have already accepted the new offer, this trade is closed and the approved amount has been released to our payment provider for processing. In the future, if you have concerns, our Support Team is available 7 days a week, from 8am to 12am EST. Thank you, Phobio Support. Thank you, Phobio Support.

Reneged on agreed trade-in without cause, and then returned item inoperable.
Through the apple.com website I arranged to trade in an old MacBook Pro laptop for a credit of $245. After I sent in the laptop, Phobio changed the trade-in to $50 on the grounds that they were unable to clean old data from it. I declined, and they sent it back. But the laptop they returned did not work. In fact, it would not even boot, saying there was no O/S installed. So obviously they did succeed in cleaning data from it. However attempts at the local apple store to re-install the operating system all failed, which suggests to me that either they broke it, or they returned a different laptop than the one I sent (which was working without a problem).

Desired Outcome

Send me back my MacBook Pro, or at least one of the same vintage that works.

Phobio Response • Jun 05, 2019

Hi ***, thank you for sharing your trade-in experience. Our records indicate we were not able to successfully run our security-grade erasure/inspection software, which is required by Apple. The software is designed to test the working condition of the hard drive, as well as ensure the complete removal of all personal information. If the device does not pass *** software test, we are unable to offer the full-working value, as the device must be re-homed without the hard drive. As we are not technicians, we cannot diagnose or troubleshoot during inspection, and must rely on the ability to run the inspection software. All devices are tracked by serial number at our facility, so the device returned is the device that we received. We would recommend taking your device to your local Apple Store so they can run diagnostics to determine the cause of the error that was experienced. Thank you, Phobio Support.
