Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital financial counseling department may not place the account on hold for collection follow up if the documents are anticipated to be returned within days of the application date. In this instance the financial counselor failed to communicate with the patient how long it may take for her to have all the completed the documentation and did not request the account be placed on collection hold. The patient was contacted once by telephone on September 14, since submitting the application on September 2, 2015. The collector was able to see the notes regarding the patient’s application for financial assistance and at the time placed the account on collections hold. During the telephone conversation between the patient and the collector there was no discussion that the patient wished to record the phone call. Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital welcomes opportunity and feedback to improve processes and provide better customer service
