Epilepsy Patient Abuse by Phoenixville Hospital emergency room staff, nurses, physicians
I am making a formal report to the hospital alleging abuse my son suffered at the Phoenixville hospital when he was taken there by ambulance for a grand mal seizure he experienced at home . My son was treated as if he created the situation on his own by taking illegal substances, they did not take time to review his medical records and find out that he is a patient at Jefferson University, neurology sciences, center. They took blood and we’re waiting to see what he “took” while deciding to treat him as a patient with a very serious life threatening medical condition or what they judged as a drug overdose problem.

Review: My insurance company, [redacted]), recommended Phoenixville Hospital ([redacted]), specifically [redacted], RD to see as a registered dietician. I was advised there would be no co-pay, no limits to the amounts of visits and no limit to what would be covered. I made the appointment. A few days prior to my appointment, PH phoned [redacted] (on 2/7/13) and supplied the codes they would be submitting regarding my upcoming visit. [redacted] informed PHS the codes provided might not be covered. **

I arrived for my visit and was never told by the on-site billing department (at the check-in) that the codes may not be covered; rather I was asked to sign a financial agreement, relating I would pay what [redacted] would not. As stated above, if coded correctly, my visits would be covered 100%. If I did not sign, I would not be seen. Therefore, PHS knew they’d be sending me a bill, rather than giving me the choice to decline the appointment.

[redacted] never received the claim and I was forced into paying $95 or the bill would be going into collection status. Instead of filing my claim with [redacted], it was filed with [redacted], with whom I am NOT insured. PHS related they had to do this because they are under contract with them.

[redacted] never sent the claim to [redacted]. [redacted] denied the claim and refused to forward it to my insurance company for acceptance or denial. [redacted] requested the claim be resubmitted by both PH and [redacted]. Requests were denied.

Consequently, I was forced into paying a $95 fee to avoid collections. I am also filing a complaint against [redacted].

I feel this practice was very unethical and the billing department (on-site at PH) had every right to explain to me that [redacted] may not cover, OR even receive the claim with the provided codes, as well as the fact that [redacted] would be handling my claim, NOT the company I’m insured with. My hands were tied.

[redacted] is denying any information to me and claims I am not in their system. [redacted] and PH can advise you I am. the Tracer # given to [redacted] from PH is [redacted]

[redacted] Several phone calls were made to all involved. I do not have exact dates, but I can assure you [redacted] will have all the dates. I called PH on those dates as well.Desired Settlement: Because the hospital was aware (prior to my office visit) that my insurance would not cover the codes they were going to provide, and failed to advise me of such; rather made me sign a form or would deny service, I am requesting a refund based on unethical procedures.

- Respectfully,

If possible, I would prefer to be contacted via phone, at [redacted]. Thank you

Review: I need documentation of the the personal property which should have been given to [redacted] Emergency Room staff by Emergency Medical Transport personnel at the time of my transfer into the hospital in the early morning hours of April 18th, 2012. I have been referred to numerous individuals and been refused this simple, single piece of paper addressing this simple, single fact: [redacted] either DID or DID NOT receive ANY property with me on this date. A statement from the hospital documenting the refusal to produce this would be fitting but I have been refused this as well.Desired Settlement: A statement in writing from the [redacted] acknowledging receipt or no receipt of any property at the time of my entry into their ER or a statement of refusal in this request would also be acceptable.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

Phoenixville [redacted] owes me an an apology as well as an explanation as to why so many people in so many departments refused my simple request repeatedly informing me there was no one, in any department, all the way up to the CEO's office, who could provide me with what I was asking.

Thank you for your time,
