Phone Shop Yakima Reviews (1)

Review: March 16th, 2015- I brought the Ipad into The Phone Shop on Washington Ave. The Ipad wasnt working at the time I brought it in. Previous to bringing in the Ipad, it was fully functioning except for a loose charge port. I knew it was an issue with the charge port because I had to hold the lightning cable in a certain way in order for it to charge. I took it into The Phone Shop to be repaired when it would no longer take a charge. I was told it would cost $150 to repair the charge port. I was required to pay upon dropping off the Ipad. I have never been asked to pay the full amount prior to services being rendered. I was charged$149.99 on 03/16/2015 which was paid with my debit card. I was also charged an additional $12.15 to my card from The Phone Shop. I do not know what those charges were for, I am assuming tax amount that wasnt charged along with the first charge. I was told it would be ready by Wednesday the 18th and that someone would call me when it was ready.March 20th, 2015 11:00am- Still no call from The Phone Store, I decide to stop by the store and [redacted], the worker I had been dealing with the whole time told me it was not the charge port that was an issue, they were going to try the battery instead and would call me by the end of the day. He also said he would refund my money minus the amount of labor which was $30 if it could not be fixed. March 21st, 2015- I called the store to find out the status of my Ipad. [redacted] explained that the technician changed the battery and charge port and the power button was also out. He explained when the power button was replaced it was all working but it would not be ready until Monday because the technician did not work on the weekends. He also explained it would be an additional $130 for the battery and power button to be replaced. I agreed to have him fix those things and I would pick it up on Monday when it was ready. I also asked that he would actually call me to let me know if it was ready since he had not contacted me at all since I dropped it off to let me know any kind of status. I was the one calling and going down to the store to find out what was the status of my Ipad. March 24th, 2015- It is now Tuesday and there is still no call from The Phone Shop regarding the status of my Ipad. I attempt to call multiple times within the hours of business with no answer. I leave a message and there was no return call. March 26th, 2015- I stop by the Phone Shop on Thursday around 12:30pm to pick up my Ipad regardless if it is ready or not since I have not yet received any contact from the store regarding the status of my Ipad. [redacted] explains the Ipad was ready but the technician was not in, he was running late that day and [redacted] did not know which Ipad was mine since they were all bundled together. Just then, the technician walked in. [redacted] went to the back to retrieve my Ipad and brought it to me. He explained the technician could not get the power button to work but activated an assisted touch button that shows on the screen to work the power button. At the time I did not try any other features on the device such as the camera or headphone jack, or volume buttons. [redacted] only notified me that the power button was not working. He charged me $97.28, the price of the battery to be replaced. At this point I was very frustrated with the lack of customer service and communication regarding the status of my ipad. [redacted] offered a free Ipad case which was priced at $60 for the inconvenience. I appreciated the gesture but it did not make up for the lack of communication. I did not plan on returning at that point. My family and I were on our way out of town that afternoon so we left and when we returned on Sunday, I began to use the Ipad and noticed the camera (both front and back), headphone jack, volume buttons, mute switch and power button were not working. All of these features were working before it shut down for the last time which I had then brought it in for repairs. March 29th, 2015- I returned to the store with the ipad and case since the case was not the right fit anyways. I asked to speak with a manager and one of the workers directed me to a man named, [redacted]. Thinking he was the manager, I explained my issue to [redacted] who then took the Ipad, looked at it and tried to get the buttons to work. I gave the ipad case back to [redacted] and explained it wasnt the right fit either. 5 minutes later he hands the device back to me and said I dont know what to tell you, the technician is not here right now. You can leave it and he can look at it tomorrow. I was astonished that he didnt even bother to apologize or help me in any way. I left and said I would have to return tomorrow. While I was on my way back home I decided to turn around and return to the store. I returned and explained I was done with this store and their attempt at fixing my device. I explained I wanted my money back. He said he couldnt help me, some explanation about a skeleton crew. I then asked who the owner was, got his name and when he would be in next which was Monday March 30, 2015. I asked if he was the manager and he said, well kinda in a not so sure way. March 30th, 2015- 12:00pm- I return to the Phone Shop with the Ipad to speak with the owner, [redacted]. I explained my situation to him and he talked to the technician and checked the log notes. [redacted] was also there. I explained my frustrations and asked to get my money back. He refused to return my money. He told me since the Ipad was not turning on when it was received there was no way to tell if it had actually broken while in their care. He then explained different reasons why it would stop working, stating that if it was dropped that it would cause those issues to occur. My device was never dropped in my care. I tried to explain that the only thing that was wrong with the device before I brought it in was the charge port was loose and needed replacing. Then, [redacted] beDesired Settlement: The owners explanation of why he couldn't return my money was that he needed to make a profit and pay his technician for the time spent on "repairing" the device. I completely understand a business's need to turn a profit but at what cost? It is not about the money and I am not searching for "free" stuff. I want this business owner to take ownership for the poor customer service provided by his employees and their lack of respect for his customers.
