Review: On March 21, 2015 my husband & I went to TCC (formerly PhonesPlus) to upgrade my cell phone. At the time of the purchase of the new phone, the employee, [redacted], told us we qualified for a free tablet. The tablet would be $80, but that I could send in a rebate & get the $80 back. My husband & I decided to purchase the tablet. I sent in the mail-in rebate & received a visa card with $80 on it. I spent the money. When we got our next bill we noticed that purchasing the tablet had started a new phone line on our account. We were also charged a $40 service fee on the tablet. This fee was not mentioned in the store the day we purchased the tablet. My husband called Verizon Wireless on April 25, 2015, & found out that not only was the tablet on its' own line, but that it also put us on a 2 year contract being charged $10 per month. This was not mentioned to us in the store either. We then asked the Verizon representative to cancel the tablet & the line. We were informed that TCC is not a corporate Verizon dealer, so only TCC could remove the device. The Verizon representative told us to go to the TCC store & only speak to a manager. We live 75 miles from the TCC store, so this was a problem. My husband was in Lewiston on April 27,2015 & stopped in the TCC store & asked to speak to a manager. He was told that there was no manager there that day. We came back to Lewiston on June 6, 2015. This time the manager, [redacted] (the same woman who sold us tablet), told us that there was nothing she could do to get me out of my contract or return the tablet. Now I am locked into a 2 year contract at $10 per month plus tax. I am also out the $40 service fee. I am willing to give the tablet back. However, I am still told that both Verizon Wireless & the store TCC will do nothing to refund my money or cancel the tablet without an early termination fee. I feel that by not disclosing all of the details of the contract on the tablet, TCC was only interested in making a sale & not about being truthful about the product.Desired Settlement: I am willing to return the tablet. I would like to be refunded the $40 service fee and terminate the two year contract on the tablet WITHOUT any early termination fees. I would not want to incur any further fees upon returning the tablet.
