Most experienced, honest and family owned total roofing company in Chicagoland for residential and commercial. In this business more than most, experience really counts since there are no two roofing problems the same.
I purchased a new roof for my mons house from Matthews Roofing Co. The salesman gave me a lot of promises. I was told I would get a window, it was not put in the contract and my moms window was closed off without my notice. I was told the company is open everyday to address any concerns in the future. I have been trying to contact the company to do additional work to solve the problem since September of this year. I was told any rotted wood would be addressed. No rotted wood was addressed. I hired the company. In just over a year the roof started leaking. I called the company. They wasted a lot of time coming out to view the leak. They finally came out after several weeks and they claimed the problem was related to a wall which connects to the roof. They provided me with an estimate. I asked questions about the scope of the work such as the type of mortar, if the work would resolve the leak, how they would stabilize the wall, and they failed to respond in writing. I actually contacted the company to ask if I could get the permit myself. I was told to not do so yet. I continued to contact the company and they continued giving me the run around.
I spent thousands of dollars to get my roof done by this company. I am aware that the season is changing and in order to do the work the temperature has to be in a certain range. The company is doing everything possible to avoid responding to me in writing. They are also trying to push the process until the work can't be done. This will cause greater damage to my house.
I was referred to the company by numerous individuals. I was told they did excellent work and stood by their work. I have not found this to be true.
As a homeowner and consumer of professional home services over the past 30 years, more often than not, I have been disappointed by the ‘professionalism’, quality, and most of all, the project management of a home project. The importance of a PM who is accountable and responsive is tops on my list. When a contractors ‘goes dark’, its typically goes south from there. Issues and scope changes always happen, but how the firm reacts to them and communicates them is a difference maker when the time comes to write the check.
I was pleasantly surprised on a recent flat roof replacement. I was convinced by Matthews Roofing PM Eric [redacted] that TPO was the best available product, after assessing the Dura-Last and Mod Bit products. The end product application was remarkable…thick, tightly adhered and seemingly impenetrable. The results were a solid win for me, but the big win was Eric himself.
Highly communicative and exacting in his approach, plus control of the work team, Eric was a difference maker for my project…high marks from a tough grader.
