Physicians To Women, Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: Dr. Mark Swisher of Physicians to Women delivered my son March 2, 2012 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. After that I never received any piece of mail or phone call from them regarding billing or insurance information. Some time after I received a call from a collections agency regarding a collection for Physicians to Women for services rendered 3/2/2012. I proceed to call the company to inquire why I was never notified of a balance with them. I spoke with a representative in the collections department who informs me that they have tried to send bills on 5/9/12, 6/6/12, 7/4/12, 8/1/12 and a certified letter on 8/14/12, of which the certified letter was returned to sender 8/21/12. They claim to have called twice in which they never left a message and I never received a call. They never obtained correct information as in current address, telephone number or insurance information at any time during my stay at the hospital. The representative then proceeds to tell me they had filed with my previous employers insurance in which is no longer active and sent the bills and certified letter to my previous address in which I hadn't had since February 2012. I then proceed to fax my current insurance information for which they were supposed to file with but they claim to never have received. So when I called to follow up they tell me that they never received it and fax to them another copy of updated insurance information. After 2-3 weeks to give insurance time to receive and process I follow up once again, to which again they didn't file the correct information, they had typed in my insurance ID number incorrectly, so I then verbally tell them the ID number and they attempt to refile and tell me to follow up in another 2-3 weeks. As they instructed in 2-3 weeks I follow up only to be told that since the claim from Physicians to Women was not filed within a year of services rendered that the insurance will not cover. I then proceed to call the my current insurance company and speak to a representative who informs me that Physicians to Women can claim again and the services would be covered as long as they could show proof of timely filing, in which they had no proof of. So after 2 failed attempts on their part to file with my current insurance provider I am still receiving calls from the collection agency. Physicians to Women never obtained current information at time of services rendered to bill and used information they had, which was very old and out of date. I was also told by the collections representative that they felt it was the patients responsibility to keep up with billing and that generally if they don't have information from a patient that they just send it to collections. They have offered to take the claim out of collections and to let me make payments. The problem isn't that it is in collections. The problem is that if they would have obtained current information and current insurance information that my insurance company would have covered it and I inevitably would not have paid anything out of pocket. And now that they have failed to do so I have something in collections which lowering my credit score.Desired Settlement: If this matter was taken care of in a proper manner, my insurance would have covered at least a part of, if not all of the total amount billed. This is not an issue with my insurance company by any means. Physicians to Women has not done what I feel is there part in the matter to take care of this issue. I believe that they should write off this amount and change policy to where they collect UPDATED information at the hospital at time of delivery.
