To whom it may concern;
The reason this complaint has taken so long from the date of this offensive act, is because it has caused considerable damage to my marriage and has been so embarrassing. I am now strong enough to come forward to make this doctor to be accountable for his actions. I have all the records to back up the facts stated below against Doctor A[redacted], J.
I had not been to visit a GYN doctor in 30 years due to the fact when I was 22 they found cancer cells and had to have a partial hysterectomy. My PCP understood my fear but convinced me to go for a check up, in 30 years I had never had any problems or symptoms of anything wrong. His office referred me to Lake Norman OB/GYN on 02/17/2014.
I was shaking so badly I could barely undress. When the doctor and nurse came in I expressed my fear and the reason why I had not been for a check up for so long. He assured me that he understood and would be understanding through the exam.
The nurse handed him a metal speculum which was so hot that it made me curse; he quickly removed it and cooled it down. It burnt me so badly I had about 5 water blisters. I did call the nurse a [redacted]. At that moment the atmosphere completely changed in the room, they were both very irritated. I was informed everything was normal at the end of my visit.
On February 25, 2014 I received a message on my cell phone to call the office. When I did call back that same day I was told over the phone I needed another appointment because I had an STD called trichamonas and needed medication. They scheduled me an appt. on February
28, 2014 at 1:10 pm. My husband and I started researching this and knew it was impossible.
When my husband and I went for my appointment, the doctor did a swab walked out of the room and walked directly back in and said I was positive for this STD, I started asking questions and told him I would have to have had this for 10 years or more and he said that was impossible. He wrote me a prescription and I ask for one for my husband, he said he would have to go to his own doctor. I started asking questions and he told me to pick up a pamphlet on my way out. I knew something was wrong. I filled the medicine but did not even open the bag from the pharmacy, fearing to take unnecessary medication.
My husband went to his urologist and was tested, which had a horrible effect on him stated in his records, his test was negative. I made an appt. with another GYN doctor, told her the facts of what had happened she tested me right away and my test was also negative. Doctor M[redacted] also ran labs to double check, it also came up negative.
I knew I had been misdiagnosed and given unnecessary medication which could build a resistance to antibiotics when necessary. I feel Dr. A[redacted] misdiagnosed me out of neglect, spite for my behavior or to try to teach me a lesson for not being checked on a regular basis.
How many other women has he done this to? We need to stop this man from doing this to other women. This kind of negligence could destroy marriages and cause women to take unnecessary medication. This almost destroyed my marriage and caused great mental distress. My husband and I are now at the point that some kind of action needs to be taken against this physician. Please help us and others in the future.
