I don't usually post, but I am so pleased with this company that I had to take a moment to do so! Piedmont Home Inspect Mold certainly stands up to their word. They did a great job at my house. They are timely, courteous, thorough and clean. I would highly recommend them to my friends and family. John is a man of his word. Rarely do you find such an honorable company. Keep up the good work!
John A[redacted] was hired for a large "mold remediation" job in the crawl space for a new home we were purchasing in February of 2015. I had several phone conversations with John A[redacted] to better inform me about the work and technique he would use to clean the mold and to help him understand the sensitive health issue surrounding our family. I had done extensive research about mold and mold remediation. I was reassured many times by John A[redacted] this work would be done properly and before we moved in. The second day in our home my husband went to inspect the work in the crawl space. We were told by John that all work had been done, the only thing left to do was put in new installation in crawl space. Unfortunately, this was not true. They had not started the work, any of the work. Due to health concerns we had to leave the home and check into a hotel, which John did reimburse the hotel expense. I had hoped the situation would be resolved quickly and gave John A[redacted] a second chance. Bad choice. There were many mis told truths. The work took 2 weeks and the workers would not arrive til lunch everyday and only worked for 4 maybe 5 hours per day. I was told the duct work had been cleaned in the appropriate way needed for mold remediation. It had not. They did not use negative air pressure to isolate the mold while cleaning, nor did they use a HEPA cleaner while cleaning to help with mold spores stirred up in the air. I had to request the HEPA vacuum and they brought one after a week of working in the home. There were many situations in the process that were not handle to code or to the recommended standard for a certified mold remediator. In our conversation he stated he would do all these things, just as I had requested. I was very clear on what I expected from the job and the process. I had to hire a respectable duct cleaner, after seeing the company John had contracted, use the incorrect system to clean ducts for mold. We were also told we would have a 4 year guarantee, which would include an inspection of the work quarterly. We Called John in the summer of 2015, we never received a returned call. I contacted a respectable certified company, [redacted] and they came in and went behind John's company and cleaned areas they had missed. We feel better having an experienced mold remediation company coming in and cleaning up the "bad job", although this again was additional money and time. I had to rely on several other contractors to achieve the job of giving us a safe environment. Not what we should have experienced in an $11,000. Job, which John A[redacted] was payed. I do not feel he is a truthful or a respectable company. The whole experience was one huge headache and a lot more stress due to the lack of qualified work. We now know the work, with the proper certified company should have only taken a few days, not two weeks. Anyone having to deal with mold is already stressed mentally, and possibly physically, the last thing you want or need is a contractor who is not going to get rid of the mold properly and risk the contamination of your health and home.
