I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. I just have a few more comments that came up after the response from Piedmont Psychiatric. The patient (my
husband) walked in seconds behind me. He was seated on the couch by the time I finished speaking with the girl at the window about the paperwork. I explained to the girl why we could not see *** *** at appt later that afternoon. My husband had just gotten off 3rdHe would not be able to stay awake for a 1:appt which is what was offered to me. I asked to see *** *** for the remaining minutes of our appt. I was told he wasn't available. The appt was at 7:30, it was 8:when I asked to see himWhere was he? We had an hour booked with him? Why wouldn't he be there for the hour in case we showed up late? I work in a physician's office so I've played this scenario out over and over since this happened. When my patient doesn't show up, I go to the front office staff and question them to find out if the patient has called and rescheduled. Isn't there a list of all the patients for each provider each day? Doesn't the secretary have access to it? When someone comes in and hands her paperwork doesn't it make complete sense that she would consult said list and make sure that person wasn't on it? People RARELY walk into an office and turn in their new patient paperwork before the actual appt day. And why didn't the office manager respond.? I called and sent emails. There was NEVER A RESPONSE. Not an "I'm sorry" or "What a terrible mistake on our part" or "How can I rectify the situation" . There was nothing but silence from her until I let her know I had gotten the Revdex.com involved and only then did she respond to my email. The lack of acknowledgment is so much worse than the initial problem. I would like to speak with one of the managing physicians of the practice to make them aware of how poorly this was handled by their staff.Regards,

As with any business we have protocols that must be met. Our main goal with a new patient is to be sure our patients’ issues are ones that our psychiatrists can treat. For this reason we must have medical records prior to scheduling an appointment. Our intake coordinator has talked with Mr*** several times to let him know we do not have the records requested. As late at 8/16/2016, Mr*** called and stated he would get the records to us. We also have a letter from his previous psychiatrist, Dr*** stating that Daniel was being discharged from their practice and that he would be happy to forward records to another provider when Mr*** told them who that was and had signed an authorization to release records. That letter from Dr*** was dated 7/28/2016. Not sure how the records were sent on 4/11/when Dr*** letter was dated 7/28/2016. We will be happy to review the records and determine if we can treat Mr*** when we receive them. PIEDMONT PSYCHIATRIC SERVICES, PA [redacted] ROAD [redacted] SC  29607 864-[redacted]     5/21/15   RE*  [redacted] Complaint On April 29, 2015 a wife walked into our office and handed our staff paperwork for a male patient that was supposed to be seen by one of our therapist for the first time.  The wife walked in without the patient and handed our front staffing new patient paperwork.  As the patient did not check in, our staff assumed the wife was bringing in paperwork for a patient that was to be seen on a future date .  Our staff did not realize the patient was actually in the car and had an appointment with one of our therapists.  When the wife approached the staff, they apologized and offered a later appointment with the same therapist.  Wife was very angry and began cursing at our staff.  She demanded to see the manager who was at an appointment so it could not be arranged. Wife refused the appointment for same therapist later that day, so the staff offered them an appointment with a different therapist which they accepted.  Patient and wife met with therapist and it was determined that the therapy they desired was not offered by anyone in our office.  Patient and wife became very angry and left the therapists office and said they would never come back.  Patient and wife canceled any future appointments with our providers in effect self terminating, therefore our providers and staff cannot continue to provide assistance.  Unfortunately, the claim was sent to the insurance carrier and paid.  We have since requested that the insurance carrier re-coup the money paid to us. Our practice is here to serve the public and we work extremely hard to do that.  Unfortunately we sometimes make mistakes, but as with this one we do offer alternatives in order to rectify the situation.  In this case we were not able to do this to the patient’s satisfaction.
